what is the most annoying in GT4?

That's usually the case, but for GT4 I prefer to call it Artificial Idiocy.

LOL.

Michael88, let the Toyota 7. Let's take the everyday cars. Most of the everyday cars have the same sound, with some little differences. Each car should have it's sound, so when someone hears it, he can say which car it is. The only cars that have a different sound are the RX-8 because of the rotary engine and the RX7. :grumpy: [there are more than two of course]

Good tinus,
You pose an interesting question. Not being as skilled at this fine game as most, I nonetheless have encountered some mild annoyances, but they pretain to the cars themselves, and some convoluted valuation system, that makes no sense to me. After attending BJ Auction in Scottsdale this year, and seeing the insane prices for Mopars, to have a Super Bird rated at such low credits, makes no sense to me. And,why in the name of all that is holy, would a reward vehicle be a 1hp Benz?!!!
Just a thought,
Yours truly
Fangio

Yeah, Polyphony keeps making that claim that all the cars in their games were recorded seperately and therefore wind up with their own soundbytes. It's just not true! But I still give the game high marks for their effort.

4.Why some cars twich and twitter going down a STRAIGHTAWAY

Not sure what you mean. Guess I'll find out as i start doing faster races.

As for B-spec, yes your driver can be improved. Take a look at this thread from the stickies above.

Thanks, man!

Twitch and twitter eh? you either have toe, are peeling out, or cant drive for crap, well, ths game is pretty cool.
When you hit a wall, you break traction and go into a ad peel out, i HATE that

The best examples of crappy engine sounds are all the American muscle cars (they sound like dishwashers in GT4) and the Mazda 787B. After encountering the 787B on-track in Enthusia and hearing its fabled ripping-fabric exhaust note, I drove against it over an over again just to win it and drive it myself. Sit there in the 787B while idling, and it does that awesome "whup-whup-whup" noise.

I think he was talking about how PD attempted to simulate aerodynamic lift at high speeds. At least, that's how it feels to me.

I also can't stand the AI and the tiny 6-car field (Codemasters makes TOCA work with over 20 cars at once, why couldn't PD?). I'd also like to do some mods that are done in real life but aren't available in the game.

Really? I got in a Buick Regal a few weeks back and almost wet my pants that baby sounded so good, deep-throaty!! 👍

So far as the aerodynamic lift effect: GOOD!!! I'm glad they're trying to simulate that...it's like they keep includeing more and more stuff to make cars feel more and more real except they keep leaving damage out. Anyways, I have yet to experience lift but I'm psyched for it. GT3 feels so bland compared to GT4, know what I mean?

So far as TOCA goes...does this game have several hundred car models?? (I'm not familiar). Also, how is the quality of the pixels? I'm convinced GT keeps the car fields to 6 'cause they're so busy trying to keep quality at a premium.

Another annoying thing is when I'm playing so much and I forget to check the food I'm cooking, and then it's burnt. THANKS PD!!

I'm so glad B-spec Beth or Bob gets to race when I'm not! No more burnt food for me!

three words... Five Second Penalty...i really hope they dont have this in GT5
three words... Stop Hitting Walls... i really hope they have this in GT5 and even apply it to all races - or better yet, add an option for damage.

If I wanted to bounce of walls with no penalty I'd play an arcade game. :)

Amen. Those of us who have been racing "clean" in earlier GT games should rarely have a problem here. Although I do admit the Ai should have 5-second penalties if we do. :ill: but then..that would kinda suck 'cause then the Ai would constantly be sitting around since they often go for the wall. Can't have it both ways I guess.

Some of the sounds in GT4 are well done (go park that Buick in the tunnel at the end of Midfield and see how it sounds 👍 ), others are plain nasty. To a degree most of the GT series has been like this, I honestly think they intend well but have always favoured visuals and the physics over the sound side of things when it comes to the final product. Fingers crossed that Blu-ray and the PS3 give them what they need for GT5.

Yep aero lift is replicated to a reasonable degree in GT4, which I'm certainly glad to see. Its not perfect (the original GT40 for example had such a high degree of front end lift that in the 24hrs at the end of the Mulsanne the drivers could apply a 1/4 lock and it have no effect on the car at all), but at least its present; one of the areas that GT4 wins over Enthusia, which has almost zero aerolift modelled into it at all.

The TOCA series are great fun, but the physics engine is more basic that GT4 and graphically its not in the same ballpark at all. To run grids as large as TOCA (Race Driver in the States) GT4 would have had to take a major step backwards in terms of visuals (both cars and tracks) and I doubt that many GT buyers would have made that sacrifice. What the TRD series does do well is AI (which is far, far better than GT), large grids and very well realised damage, but at a cost.

Visually is OK, but its not close to GT4.

Agreed. You can't take action shots of the races in TOCA (GT4's photo mode spoiled me), and the replay cameras can be zoomed out too far to see what your car is doing. The physics work well enough for me, making the different chassis handle extremely differently, like the little Formula Ford-style racers being genuinely affected by curbing that other cars just roll over.

I've noticed AI cars doing some weird things when they're far away from the player's car, too. I'd guess that Codemasters wrote them to simply be at different points on the track versus attempting to run each car with 100% physics simulation. It's not something that I ever noticed or cared about while driving, though, since the cars within range all appeared to behave correctly.

I say to go ahead and get TOCA. Enjoy it for what it is and what it does differently from GT4. 👍

thanks Scaff and Barracks. I keep hearing about TOCA/Race Driver but have yet to see it at my local gaming stores. That pic kinda looks like PS1 graphics, which doesn't bother me as long as what you say is true (large car fields, damage, etc).

... yeah, the AI is pretty worthless. I guess all we can do is hope PD changes ti for the better in GT5. I'd also love to see parts break on the cars. Seriously, you pay a few thousand credits for a light weight clutch and you never have to replace it. What a joke. You never have to buy replacement tires (or have a tire go flat). Oh well, it's still the best game out there.

Have you ever wondered why tires are so expensive in GT4, its because you buy loads of sets. Although it doesn't say you have bought unlimited tires for your vehicle, that is what basically happens, so they charge you a lot of money. Could you imagine spending 47 000Cr. on a set of super soft every time you qualify. They just give you a lump charge, on the basis you are going to use loads of sets. I agree it would just be better if you bought x amounts of sets though, I hate spending loads on tires that I am hardly going to use

I always look at it like this: I'm paying several thousand credits for some S3 sport tires (for instance). Each set of sport tires runs ...what...about 500 to 700 credits in real life on a passenger car? And then how many races do I do in an actual GT4 car before moving on to the next car and having to buy sports tires for that car as well?

Assuming you're buying cars one after another, the cost of parts seem fairly realistic to me. 💡

i love the game but if it has maseradis, lambos, ferraris, more caddilacs, the saleen mustang, porsha, morgan, and more bentlys

the licences because before i got the licences in the sunday cup and stuff i used the dirt to my advantage

a walk around garage like in pgr3

change the paint job of the car after you buy it used

tires waring out

the soundtrack

how they dont have the ford thunderbird the best ford ever

having to make pit stops

24 hour races that prevent you from playing more gt4

how all 3 zondas are almost the same they should have only put in 2 the race car and the other one that is the most expensive

they should have body kits

to many ford gt's they only need 3

smart cars are not thier it would be fun if thier was a smart car

concepts not able to be driven in races

and more i cant think of but will later

Tires wearing out and pitstops are just realisitic. I'd be so pissed if these got axed. What do you mean about the 24 hour race? Aren't you or your b-spec racing for 24 hours, why would you want to do more??

Totally agree on the Thunderbird: there should be 3 of them: the original from the 50's, an 80's version (it brought Ford back into NASCAR action), and the newest T-bird. Smart cars would be interesting, too, considering how much discussion they effect. Anyone who says "but they're slow" well look at all the other slow cars there are that hardly anyone has ever heard of.

the generic looking gauges
http://youtube.com/watch?v=R4QOMo4YThs (notice in battlegear 4, those are real DC5 gauges, they even light up the same color as the real thing but of course it can't compare to GT4)
reverse lights don't work when your in reverse (yea, yea your not in reverse often if ever but every other recent game has it working)
HID's are under emphasized, especially at night
the jazzy type music during the menu's

The jazz music is cool, but they should have made some more so you dont have too here the same melody every single time :)

I love the Jazz music, but not the car. :D

Bodykits may just wreck the whole emphasis about real driving simulator cause we dont want GT series to go to NFS series....

But the good thing in GT2 was that the race mods meant you got an existing reallife bodykit, not one from a carshop around the corner that doesnt fit :sly:

(it's a shame that NFS went that way, in the early days it was THE racing game with all the latest supercars and prototypes, i learned alot from that game 👍 )

No ricer bodykits would be bad for Gran Turismo but that doesn't mean most bodykits would be bad for the game.

You will notice that road going kits are very similar to the kits on the racecar. These are the kits I thinks should be available on Gran Turismo after upgrading your car. There is a reason why the standard road car kit is not used for most higher power race cars. So why you should have to keep your standard road car kit after tuning yous so it is the standard of a high powered race car.

My biggest disapointment is No Porsche or Ferrari! Still!! Other things which are kind of a let down:

- Some elements of realism in the game (tyre change after 5 laps? Fuel consumption the same on every car etc)
- 6 cars per race?
- Rally mode is waaay too slippery
- I think they should have had more races that didn't involve a "race car" to win

Off the top of my head...come on!!! Put the Porche and Ferrari on the list!

EDIT: More older types of cars, like Merc's, BMW's, Jags etc. That'd be cool
