What is your biggest reason for wanting GT6?

Because it's everything GT5 should've been.

GT7 will be everything GT6 should have been.
I'm getting it cause it's Gran Turismo. GT5 should have taught me a lesson but still haven't learned.

You guys can dismiss all that if you want. I'm not really concerned with what you guys think or feel. Buy the game, don't buy the game, has nothing to do with anyone else. I'm happy, which is what really matters to me, and December 6 can't get here soon enough.

Come on Ten D, where's the love baby?

I think I percieve a little pre release anxiety.
It seems to be "settling in" at GTP here lately.

BTW I've been playing GT5 recently, after a long timeout.(not since 2.02)

Since you appear a little uptight, I'll spare you some of my impressions.

Maybe some other time.

Likewise, I am anticipating the arrival of Dec. 6th, gaurded as it maybe.
I truly hope you are right and it is over the top, the best GT ever.

Is this some sort of competition, He Who Likes GT the Most, Wins?
Well, you haven't exactly been all rainbows and hugs or something... ;)

Which is why you've spent the last three years essentially whining because other people have the audacity to not enjoy the game as much as you.

💡
Yeah... with no exaggerations or misrepresentations from them whatsoever. Sure. :sly:

I mean lookit, I make a judgment based on not just improvements in GT5, but what I've seen in the Academy demo. Along with observations from some people who are pretty solid sim racers or even real world racers. Including some people who were dubious about it but came away from the Jalopnik party sounding impressed. And some people will act like I've played the completed game because to them, there's no evidence to show that GT6 will be much different than GT5.

Others will play the Academy demo and assume that GT6 won't be much different than GT5 as if they've played the completed game, completely ignoring how GTHD, GT5 Prologue and the first Academy demo were just examples of what the finished game was going to be, and weren't quite the same. Heck, GT5 in 2012 wasn't the same as GT5 2010.

With some people here, every argument is slanted against Gran Turismo, Polyphony and Kaz, no matter what. I don't roll that way. Oh well. ;)

I like how arguing that the final product (however long it takes after the game is released to actually get it in people's hands) will be different than the current thing showed is being used to defend the argument that the final product will be the best of all of the final products delivered thus far.

Is this some sort of competition, He Who Likes GT the Most, Wins?

He who places the most holders wins.

'13 GT500 and the fading hope that American cars will have realistic mods and correct US market price. Sill on the fence on getting it on the 1st day.

Previously it was just the simple stuff, new tracks, cars, etc. But the lack of info & true 'talk' of game-design after gameshow-season was slowly turning me away.

But then we got a glimpse of this

Access (albeit how much still isn't known) to KW's '7-post' test-platform is very intriguing to me. I can see myself 'transfering' my GT5 Z06 setup to GT6 and just spending countless hours testing suspension parameters for Nürburgring alone.

If I can watch 'my cars' on the machine as it runs through it cycle while monitoring various read-outs, like the first picture, I'll nearly be sold. PD would just have to show me the rest of the game isn't botched :sly:

PD haven't really given me any yet. New physics, cars and tracks aren't enough for me.

Same.

I don't agree that it appears to be everything GT5 should've been - there has been no indication that core gameplay issues that were a problem for years before GT5 was released have been rectified.

Don't forget the faster loading times and simpler user interface too. But the main reasons for me to get GT6 are new cars & tracks :)

I agree, in fact, we know that sound will be the same on release and it could stay that way through the game's life cycle. We haven't got a single word regarding AI or Career Progression so it's actually a rather worrying situation.

From the demo, we can take that the tyre model is still horrible and that graphics are worse than GT5. Nothing, apart from cars and tracks has been showcased, it's all words from a guy who can't be trusted.

I don't get how people believe that it'll be the best GT yet when the evidence shows that it's the other way around. With the info thus far I could safely assume that GT6 will be no different from GT5.

What is the Ford GT, is it a GT3 car? Because, this didn't occur to me when the news article was published, but that car could have been doing suspension test for its addition to the game, also, about that older touring car, any info on that as well? What car is it most similar too that's already in game?

#Brofist

This game and GTA V are what I need to complete this generation of consoles. As soon as PD announces GT7 I might consider the PS4.

Indeed. I'm planning to do the same as well, and honestly, I'm fine waiting. 👍

Don't forget the faster loading times and simpler user interface too.

Ahh yes, that too. This is what GT5 should have had, and it looks like that'll be solved in GT6. I just feel that GT6 will be better than GT5, I'm sure of it. :)

Well, I guess because like many people in this thread, it's GT6. It's new, it's better, it's different, and that's good enough for me.

Agreed. I mean, we were stuck with GT5 for like three years now. Since theres finally going to be a new GT game, I can see why everyone is really excited (me included). :)

Time to breath some fresh new air.

Your honor, I rest my case. I doubt I could pay for a better timed post. ;)

Not sure about its origin, but it looks like a Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.5-16 Evo II.

So anyway, to be my usual positive self in the thread, I see a lot to look forward to.

  • No XP system
  • Paint Shop is supposed to be reworked, though still has something to do with those dreaded paint chips... though they have their fans
  • Extensive modification system
  • Race Mod
  • Possible Livery Editor
  • Probable Event Maker, and both off- as well as online
  • Online system includes LOTS of options: event editor to the possibility of having a short racing season/championship, club and league building
  • Improved car dynamics all the way round, but in particular, a new tire and suspension model
  • Dr Girlfriend - just wanted to see if you're paying attention or skimming
  • Possibility of a HARDCORE MODE!!1@@
  • COURSE MAKER II
And that's just off the top of my head. Kaz has mentioned about that much more in features. And we have a LOT of surprises thanks to the no-show at TGS. What new cars are coming. How the dealerships will be structured. Used car dealers, and what used cars will be like. What Career Mode will be like. Polyphony Digital online racing series and championships. There are going to be lots of goodies to discover in GT6.

Yep, just another Gran Turismo. :D

I posted that race car in a wishlist thread not too long ago. Someone there told me it's actually that the Merc is a pikes peak rally car.

EDIT: Wait, I was just told it was hill climb car actually, just not a pikes peak one.

So it would have a suspension similar to older rally cars? 💡 maybe they are using it to rework the late 80s/early 90s suspension in less accurate GT4 cars. Or its the base for a suspension kit for tuning. :P Or its just a boring car that happened to be there that day. :P My imagination felt like doing a few laps :)

It could be something along the lines of the rally cars having better suspension physics. All I've heard is that these cars were used to work with PD in the suspension physics or just demonstrate how suspension in GT6 will be like.

Pot. Kettle. Black.

Same.

I don't agree that it appears to be everything GT5 should've been - there has been no indication that core gameplay issues that were a problem for years before GT5 was released have been rectified.

The XP system being removed is a definite sign of them moving in the right direction. Presumably - I mean, hopefully - this means there's no limitations on when we can purchase cars in our careers. Of course, this is balanced by the same damage model (which is poor on Premiums, to say nothing of how laughable it is on Standards), the continued reliance on said Standards, and the complete absence (so far) of a livery editor.

Don't forget the faster loading times and simpler user interface too. But the main reasons for me to get GT6 are new cars & tracks :)

Load times don't seem much quicker to me, at least going by what I saw at the JFF. Sure, after picking all the details for your race from the menus, the game loads into the pre-race menu at the track fast - much like GT5 post-update - but you still have to wait for the game to finish loading to allow you to actually get out there on the track. That said, having the menu up faster than GT5 v1.xx does let us get into the settings menu faster.

I agree, in fact, we know that sound will be the same on release and it could stay that way through the game's life cycle. We haven't got a single word regarding AI or Career Progression so it's actually a rather worrying situation.

I don't expect to hear about either prior to release at this point, either.

From the demo, we can take that the tyre model is still horrible and that graphics are worse than GT5. Nothing, apart from cars and tracks has been showcased, it's all words from a guy who can't be trusted.

A great many of us felt the GTA demo only had a new suspension model; the tires felt just like GT5. The later demos, such as the one at JFF, didn't feel that way, however. Given the limited exposure to it, it's hard to delve in-depth into how exactly the tire model is changed, but that is one area I'm confident PD will have a new engine in place on release. Will it match some of the competition out there? We'll have to see.

I don't get how people believe that it'll be the best GT yet when the evidence shows that it's the other way around. With the info thus far I could safely assume that GT6 will be no different from GT5.

Other way around = worst GT yet. So by all means, explain that one.

It is going to be best GT/racing games because they have made improvement and fix most of the issues they had with GT5. Graphics, gameplay from videos and GT6A demo. I like the menu in GT5 but it takes lot of time to do things. They have organized it and made more faster. I hope it looks just as good as GT5 too. No separate B spec mode this time. Obviously all new tracks are good. Hopefully they have more ? Cars I think they probably added 150+ and improvement to standard cars in graphics and features, same as premiums.

Also they did great job with announcing the game before E3 and releasing it on 6th December. So not too much waiting, delay this time and this probably helped them also.

Physics, and new cars. Also that GT5 is getting very boring, GT6 will be nice and fresh.

Also looking forward to the new tracks, PD has chosen the new tracks very well.

The bolded are funnier than your doctor to be honest.

And we have a LOT of surprises thanks to the no-show at TGS.

Is this supposed to be a feature? Thank God they didn't turn up at TGS to tell us stuff, now we can look forward to...something.

All the stuff you listed is interesting. I'm most looking forward to the course maker, but you'll forgive me if I'm not taking PD at their word. We haven't seen examples or detailed descriptions of ANY of the stuff you listed, we're just told it will be in. Or maybe patched in, in the case of the course maker.

So yeah, when all that stuff makes it into the game, probably best GT game ever. But this is very much a "fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me" situation. I'm not buying into their hype without actual solid evidence after the way GT5 1.01 turned out.
