Well i'm pretty sure i can buy one because when i become legal to drive i have money to buy it. I work part time and sometimes full time every week ends, plus my parents are sustaining me, so i haven't used any money at all from my work, at least nothing too pricy.
Works part time majority at 16.

Believes he can afford $30,000 car.

That's fine, but, you're not considering insurance, tires, brakes etc.

And, you never got back to me about which track you're going to.

For one, he's day dreaming. When he has the car & makes a thread asking for advice, you can be sure most of us will be there.

Secondly, you're right, it isn't wise to track a daily driver. However, we have to be realistic. In the case of which car is better suited for daily driving & track abuse, a R34 GT-R is a much better contender because Nissan built it that way in the same way Ferrari builds Scuderias or Porsche builds GT3/2/RS models. Your Impreza Wagon wasn't. It doesn't have parts on it designed to cope with the harsh effects of a track day.

Again, it doesn't change the fact that yes, it isn't wise to track your daily driver in the event of something breaking, but a R34 GT-R will take the punishment much better. The likeliness of a problem occurring from a track day is you warping the brakes on your car whilst the 4-pot Brembos on the GT-R will most likely just lose a small chunk of their life & speed up the maintenance interval on them.

My Subaru is fine for autocross. I stopped dreaming of taking it to Mosport/Shannonville.

Because a classic car is affordable.

It is affordable, specially a 1970 Charger, it isn't the most sought-after model (dat be 1969) and if you stay clear of the higher end models (hemi 4 speed stuff for example) and settle for a cool 383 car with low options, or even a secretary-special 318 blob that you can customize without feeling guilty, you can score some pretty decent deals on one.

yeah you can get one for between 10,000 and 20,000 and put between 5,000 and 10,000 and wind up with a great car i don't want a super fast track car i just want a 440 not a huge big block with a supercharger you really need to learn that that is a normal budget for a car

Alfa Romeo 164, is a very distinct possibility for my first car (that I've paid for, some around here are going for $1500-$2500, easily within my budget.)

And, for later down the road...

Mazda RX-3, there are quite a number of shells in good condition here as well. Would be a project, but I can see a swap being done with something like a 1JZ/2JZ or similar. Nothing too powerful or expensive, though.

Datsun 510 wagon. I love Datsun 510s and I love wagons, so it's the perfect combination! Could have bought that one for $500 that I found on craigslist that needed to be put together. I could have had it! ARGH!

Weird ****.. I came in to post a 964.. Good Norwegians think alike.. :)

Hope to own one in a few years. Been spending a good time on Rennslist lately.. A former neighbor used to own a 964 then moved onto a 993 when I grew up.. A lot of the English VW guys have built these in the past years and after seeing a Tahoe Blue 964 up close I've been dead set on em since. 964 C4 for me please.. :)

It started just over a week ago when my dad let me drive his '93 MR2 Turbo, I immediately fell in love. Ever since then I did some research and look for one and that was when I found a video about the '89 MR2 SC and how the supercharger works. That was when I narrowed my search, I began looking for a '88 or '89 SC. I am currently looking at this one:

You sir, are looking at a wonderful car.

Someone here has one of those. It's not quite as good as that one (it could use a light restoration) and I'm pretty sure it's not for sale. I think I posted it in the DYSAGT thread last year.

Unimog? Just a shot at it, I might be way off.

It's a Land Rover 101, close enough for me :P They're old army surplus, never made for Joe Public. And they look great... in a functional, rugged way :sly:

Looking at a 4-litre V8 (I think ), top speed of less than 60mph and rubbish MPG. They also refuse to insure new drivers on them :grumpy:👎

Maybe not the best first car xD

I've changed my mind. I think I'd have a Lotus Carlton, if it were available in Canada. What do they sell for in UK?

Anywhere from £10,000 for an absolute dog to £20,000-£25,000 for a good example.

Maybe not the best first car xD

There is a good reason why only Land Rover enthusiasts own Forward Controls - that being that they are absolute piles of 🤬.

If you like rust, rot and fluids leaking from places that shouldn't physically be able to leak, it's the 4x4 for you.

Want a reliable cab-over 4x4? Get a Pinzgauer.

I WILL own this car one day.

Make it a year or two older and I agree 1000000%

I want an older scooby sti for a first car. Good on gas, 4 door, AWD, amazing sound, beautiful looks, and you can do stuff to it.

I'd love to have an R32 or R33 but myself being in America, unfortunately won't happen. A GT-R R35 would be amazing but I don't think it's really reasonable.

A car I want later in life would be a M3 BMW '04.

My obtainable dream car would have to be an FC, FD, R33, or R35. All of them are fantastic to drive and the Mazdas are great cause u almost never have to change the oil, just add more.
