One of the most moving films I've ever watched.
Narrated by Liam Neeson, this is a must see for anyone interested in any form of racing.

Saw Fury last weekend. I actually liked it, although Brad Pitts acting was over the top as usual.

Ghost Ship (2002)

Pretty lame for a horror movie, but still found the movie's storyline interesting enough, even if it lacked in the scary department.

For the first time I saw the fairy tale fantasy Princess Bride, never having heard of it before it was offered to me at my fencing academy.

It has excellent swordplay, and is very funny. Like the Wizard of Oz, it has apparently taken on a timeless cult status.

The internet must have been a very confusing place before today. It is responsible for at least one great meme and a half dozen others.

It has excellent "Flynning"... where the actors are simply fencing by the seat of their pants... though apparently the moves mentioned in the dialogue (lifted straight, in their entirety, from the book) are real moves!

If you liked the movie, the book is worth a read, as there are some good parts that were skipped in the movie for brevity's sake.

I just watched Interstellar.

Good film.

I guessed a few things, but I also had my intellect tested in quite a few places also.
If you are looking for an action movie based in space with terror, suspense and impossible physics, then this is not for you.
If you like to think about a film, while trying to watch it, and are quite happy with a near 3 hour epic that holds a steady pace and attempts to broaden your horizons about what is out there beyond our galaxy, then i urge you to go and watch Interstellar.

This kind of movie is one to be seen on the biggest screen possible the first time around, and then picked to pieces in the comfort of your own home at a later date when it's released on bluray.
I saw it in 2D, I'm not even sure if it's available in 3D, and even if it is, there really is no benefit to the experience by having things float out of the screen into your popcorn.
I thoroughly enjoyed it, I wanted more, and I didn't ever feel like I'd been in the theatre too long and wanted it to stop.
Enthralling from beginning to end, I heartily recommend this film to any sci-fi or space geeks out there.
Just don't expect a whole load of Ray guns and cloaking devices.

I give it 8/10, due to a few plot holes, which didn't really detract from the main experience, and also I scored less than ten because despite its run time, I still think there were some elements that could have been explored further, but maybe, as with guardians of the galaxy, I'll have to wait for the directors cut to see those areas fully fleshed out.

Get a big drink and a large popcorn, and prepare to be taken into deep space, where time has little or no meaning until the end credits roll.

I re-iterate; if this is your sort of thing, make sure you do the film justice, and go and see it on it's very, very grand scale.......

You'll thank me earlier.

The Hunger Games part 3

Didn't enjoy it at all, they have fallen foul of the same thing as Peter Jackson and the Hobbit films. They made the decision to split one book into 2 films, as a result this particular one was completely full of nothingness. The entire film could easily have been condensed into 45, maybe even 30 minutes but in the end it was 2 hours. There were many pointless irrelevant scenes that didn't add much to the story at all and only 2 scenes were worth watching. One which was a combat scene and was quite well done, but imagine the budget this film had and then they waste the money trying to get more money from the public going to see 2 films rather than one.

A drawn out rather confusing mess all in all, but unfortunately a must watch if you don't want to go into the 4th film without knowing what happened.

4/10

I agree. Watched it myself with my brother and it just doesn't work. In a book it may well do the job (read them all as well), but in a film, the impact of Katniss learning things and changing her opinion isn't the same, and in the end it seems rather rushed. Which is funny, considering the film is too long to begin with. I call it a two-hour film about a girl crying, because that's the best way to describe it. "I haven't seen this myself" -> "Now I've seen this myself" -> "Now you need to see this yourself".

Just watched Falcon Rising. Helluva impressed with Micheal Jai White. Maybe Marvel should've looked at his way when they were searching for someone to portray Black Panther...or the inevitable reboot of Blade.

An ok movie, with some good action and solid performances.
But the story is mostly hard to follow, which made the action even more mindless and meaningless.
If the film had a better director and a more fleshed out story,it could have been really good.5/10

Are there any really good movies out? Like intelligent films, not dumb action or comedy stuff.

Interstellar. They get some stuff wrong, based on how we understand physics, but introduce some heavy theoretical concepts as well. The best review I heard was from my Michael Bay loving brother-in-law: That really wasn't that good. Maybe it just isn't my kind of film.

My most recent films have been the 1938 version of A Christmas Carol and Christmas in Connecticut.

It is good to go back to watch the first film version of a story done numerous times to see how it influenced the films after.

And Christmas in Connecticut is a classic holiday themed comedy of errors. I wish I had an a Uncle Felix.

No, interstellar was dumb. It was eye candy and physics porn. I mean, like, what was the last really classic movie?

Define classic movie. You asked about something that is out, so I was suggesting the closest thing to your definition that is in theaters right now.

If you want classic by my standard, it won't be anything new. Lots have come close, but none have succeeded.

Well, in theaters would be nice. But since there's nothing good in theaters, then what was the last thing?

Depends on what you call classic. If you want something that isn't typical Hollywood it will likely be limited release.

A few that are supposed to be really good, but I didn't get to see are Nightcrawler, Whiplash, and Force Majeure. Boyhood is supposed to be a whole new level of filmmaking.

Birdman and Gone Girl are supposed to be good too, but I don't know on what level.

Big Hero 6? Lots of fun. Just ignore the question of where the micro-bots get their power (when apparently battery life and power consumption is a problem for other high-tech in the movie) and the plot twists that might have the kids gasping, but which you will see from miles away.

Still, haven't seen an animated feature this complete since "How to Train Your Dragon."

Stand By Me Doraemon.

It was good, the way they connect the storyline from the comics and the anime is great. It's not as sad as i would expect, still pretty sad though.

7.5/10

Fury (2014) - 5/10

If you were expecting Inglorious Basterds but with tanks, don't. If you were expecting Memphis Belle but with tanks, don't. If you were expecting Saving Private Ryan but with tanks, don't.

What it did feel like, was a story short of depth and long on gratuitous violence.

I'm waiting for some kind of confirmation that The Last: Naruto the Movie is coming stateside. Of all the anime movies this is one I'm looking forward to most, even if others were a little....meh.

Initial D Legend 1 : Awakening.

I'm gonna give two ratings for this movie because there's a "behind the scenes" section.

The movie : 7/10

I would have given the rating an 8/10 if the movie wasn't so short (60 minutes). The movie itself is good, it feels similar yet different to the anime series. The cars animation lean towards like the manga than the realistic version of the anime but still you can see it's happening in real life i guess. The race scenes were really great despite it was less realistic looking than the anime series, honestly i found some of the animation in the anime series pretty boring. This movie has great angles of the race scenes. The engine sounds (the rotaries and the 4A-G in particular) sounds a lot better than the anime series. The change in Voice Actor didn't hurt the movie at all. My only complaint is how short and rushed the movie felt.

Behind the scenes : 1/10

Unnecessary boring stuff, if they continue putting this stuff again for Legend 2 (next year) just to make the movie longer then i have no more respect for the studio.

Twelve Angry Men (1957). Solid movie. Although I liked the remake more.

In my opinion once Hollywood was given the green light to show nudity, the plots went to 🤬

I mean, they just took off and ran with that permission. Often times abusing it. You get to the climax of the plot, and have it ruined by a sex scene that aids character development in no way whatsoever. The they label it as art...

I feel the same way about action sequences in Michael Bay movies.
