What Phone Do You Have?

I may or may not be acquiring a Nokia Lumia 520 today. Buying it from a friend for $21.

(Not going to be my daily driver though. It'll be just for tests and stuff)

I recently purchased new phones for both my girlfriend and myself. I had an iPhone 4 (for 4~ years or so) and she was sporting the old blackberry.

Moving overseas and not wanting to commit to anything (or pay the ridiculous prices for a contract every month) I started looking into sim only deals and buying my phone separately.

This led me to buying a Chinese smartphone straight from China. I ended up buying two phones, the Jiayu G4S for my girlfriend and the Jiayu G6 for myself.

These phones are top of the line quality (octa core, 1080p screen etc) but the prices are way better. The G4S only cost $180 and my G6 was $300. They work really well and I saved a bunch of money compared to getting any fancy samsung or apple phone.

The one of the left is a 5.6 inch G6, the one on the right is the 4.7 inch G4S.

Our experiences with these phones are very positive and I can really recommend buying them directly from china. Please feel free to ask me anything about them! :)

They are a bit heavy, arent they?

The OnePlus One is glorious! Glorious, I say! Feels great to the touch, the quality seems like an immense step up from my old phone. Feels better than the Samsung phones I've tried at the local stores. Really impressed by the nice textured back and the slight curving. I still have to learn the ins and outs of CynogenMod11 as opposed to the outdated, regular Android I used previously, but it's all very neat and intuitive.

Wow, just looked at that OnePlus One. Looks great, has great specs, and is really cheap. Phone uses same screen resolution as the Nexus 5 as well, which means no app resolution issues as well.

I wonder if they ship to Japan...

Yay its here.

But I just spent the last hour trying to put a SIM card in and getting service. Apparently MetroPCS doesn't know this phone exists and thinks its a "blueberry". Guess I'm going to have to get a new carrier.

Experiencing a weird glitch with my 1 month old Galaxy s4. The little sound that plays when you press the lock button sometimes comes out distorted. It doesn't happen very often, maybe 1 time out of 10, but its still got me worried especially as I've never dropped or sat on the phone or anything like that.

It happens. My S4 Mini will sometimes delay the sound. I've always taken great care of it. No drops or anything.

Tip: don't use it while charging. These phones have a tendency to overheat really quickly just by being plugged into the charger.

Still utterly amazed by my OPO! The battery life is quite surprising. Been at it quite heavily for the last 13 hours (new toys, you know the deal) and it's still sitting at a rather decent 27% power.

Also, nobody who's seen the phone today would've guessed that its price tag is just 300 bucks.

Oh, and there is this:

Okay, I now have service with my phone! Too bad I don't have any friends to text with. *forever alone*

So my iPhone 4S is finally startling to go wobbly after two and a half years, I was due an upgrade back in April but I like this phone so much I decided to switch to a sim-only deal on a monthly rolling contract until I decided to upgrade.

It's stopped syncing with my laptop over the last two days, the battery life is just getting worse and worse... Those are the only two complaints I have, though. I tried a friend's Xperia Z3 and was very impressed, so I'm thinking I might upgrade to that - I have absolutely no desire to get an iPhone 6 at this point, I had a look at one yesterday in an Apple store and I just wasn't impressed. I think it's time to try Android. The HTC One M8 seems nice but the reviews I've read suggest the differences between that and the Xperia Z3 are so marginal that it really comes down to which one you prefer aesthetically, and although the HTC has that dot matrix case I prefer the design of the Sony. I will try out the HTC before I decide, though.

I have a Galaxy Nexus 4, but I consider to get another phone. I like the performance but the battery life sucks... I even got a new powerful battery but that doesn't help either... No idea if there is any way to improve it maybe with another firmware. And I am already using my phone to save as much battery as I can. No auto syncs, no widgets, display brightness very low, Apps in the background always closed...
No idea what other attempt I could start...

Google Nexus 4 or Samsung Galaxy Nexus?
