So I've seen a thread like this for the lottery, like millions, so what would you do with $30k?

Spend it on anything you want, save, invest, whatever.

I'd personally save it to pay for tuition... :/ But if I went wild I'd get a DD and build my GSX.

Trouble is the things I want to buy now wouldn't even amount to £1000. I'd end up just putting it in the bank and letting it gain some interest for later life where the real expenses occur.

Pay for studies, improve the house, build a racing simulator, build an offroad buggy(a couple of), ofcourse would buy a nice car (a cheap but nice car). Beer.

Pay off school debts.. No brainer. That's the only money owed right now.

After that what job I do won't be a huge huge concern.

Pay off my part of the college loans, trade in my car and get something really nice with leather trim, Buy two 1Ghz openpandora consoles(Give one to my friend), buy some replacement parts for the laptop(new battery and replace the fan), and then put the rest into the bank for gas use only unless I really need the money.

Half to pay off a little chunk of student loan debt, the other half into savings for a down payment on a house.

I would by a plot of land in a warm location and plant the change from the land purchase, in $1 coins, and wait a few years and then harvest it. Pretty soon my $30k would be $3m and you'd all wish you'd done the same.

Or I might just spend it on establishing a cat farm. Yeah, probably build a small cabin on a large plot of untamed woodland and raise cats for their company. I love cats. My dad already has one with 7 cats and it only cost him around 20元 per week in raw meat. Think how many cats I could attract with $30k! :D

7 house cats or 7 semi-feral cats?

30K sterling... Student loans, rest in the bank. Only to be used for very important (and expensive) purchases that is a life milestone.

Although at the current moment I don't think I have any actual need for those important milestones yet, probably just best to keep in the bank for the time being....

I'd love to pretend I'd do something sensible with it, but the reality is I'd just spend it all on shoes and hair products.

7 house cats or 7 semi-feral cats?

The latter. The live in one of the caves at the edge of the Yangtze river (100m from our complex).

Three showed up at the kitchen window around 6 months ago and were feed (we love cats) and then over the months some others got in on the action.

Now two of the original three (Mits & Ginger) have realised that the balcony (ground floor apartment) is where we have lots of BBQ and noticed they don't have to share their portion of cut-offs with the 'kitchen window' mob, who only come around lunch time every day.

We haven't been able to stroke any of them and only one has been brave enough to come onto the balcony but we're working on it. They keep away the rats, and by summer, the snakes so they earn their keep.

- Pay my father for the Nikon D3100 camera he bought for me.
- Pay my brother for the money he spent buying me gifts.
- Give half of what's left for my mother and father.
- Save the rest.

Thirty grand? I could pay off the specials on my house and buy a graphics card. Not much past that.

1.- Buy a FR-S as soon as possible.
2.- Buy a nice camera to take pics of it.
3.- ?????????????
4.- Profit. (?)

Take 1K out and use it for my PC build, I already have about 1200 set aside for that so I could build a kickass PC for $2200 (dat SLI) and then put 2K into my bank account for spending money (which would allow me to put everything I make this summer away for savings and still have fun).

The other 27k would be divided up into three or six GIC's (basically a term deposit) for 9k or 4.5k each that mature in time for each year of school (ideally I could do 6 worth 4.5k each and have one mature every September and January 1st. This plus what I'll make working in the summers means I could graduate debt free (except for what I owe from this year to the bank of mom and dad).

GIC's would basically force me to save so I don't frivolously spend away all the money, plus a decent amount of interest.

Buy a crapload of vinyl, build a decent spec pc, buy some new speakers and an amp and then save the remaining $20, 000.

Yeah, 30 grand, its on the more probable side of the "what would you do with" theoretical situations, I think the answers are more interesting and show your priorities.
