What's the point in races with fuel that lasts 1 lap? *cry*

If I drive as hard as I need to, in order to climb standings in a race that's up to 800 PP, and I have to refuel every lap, or I will run out of fuel, what's the point? I'm still using a gamepad, which doesn't help at all, but even still.. Touring Car 600 is the same deal, just lower PP.

I've tried less powerful cars that handle better and should save fuel but they just get annihilated on every straight. I've tried in-game GT cars, my own tuned cars, etc. I've tried short shifting, coasting through turns, etc. Nothing seems to matter in a way that results in higher standings.

I'm at a loss to see how it's possible to win these races, or even finish top 3 most times. I usually finished 4th if I'm lucky.

Other than snarky replies to learn how to drive, etc. hehe.. What does anyone else do to make winning these races a reality?

Which specific race are you have an issue with, and what cars have you tried?

Yeah, we need more info. I don't know of a single race like this so am curious what we could do to help.

If it is the Nurburgring race, I used the Audi RS5, with fuel map 6 and it was easy (on normal difficulty).

Ais gonna pit at some point so does not matter if the fastest ones are a good chunk of time ahead, you will get a lot of time while they are pitting. Some AIs don't pit but they drive much slower.

Playing with the pad AND AT, so no short-shifting to save fuel, only FM6

I used the R92CP in my first attempt at Nurburgring. Made it last easily for 3 laps, most of lap 2 was on FM2/3, the other two laps on FM1.

Different cars have different fuel tank tanks, fuel economies etc....

Also on a game pad. Shifting up a gear early also helps fuel saving, as does lift and coast etc...

The Raptor does this at Spa on the WTC800 with both the 6.2 and the 351 engines. Fuel capacity is 26 gallons. Similar Flex Fuel trucks have a 36 gallon tank. Then, too, top speed on a Raptor is 100 MPH. The one offered in Brand Central isn't bone stock.

Certainly there are other cars that are offered with some creative leeway as well.

Tuning and shift strategy play a role as well. Going back to the Raptor or any American V8 for that matter, these engines aren't meant to be red lined. They can handle it but they produce a gob ton of torque at low RPM where they naturally use less fuel. In game sometimes I run the Raptor, the Trans Am, or the classic Charger. I never shift above 3,000 to 4,000 RPM. IRL 4,000 RPM feels like the vehicle is pulling up asphalt. Most shifts IRL on those engines are around 2,500 RPM.
