Ford has came a looong way in the Focus form these that litter roadways to this day still with fart cannons...

... though the ST looks appealing in the end a Focus is a Focus.

To be fair, at least the MK1 Focus had a degree of design flair about it. It'll be remembered for years to come because it looked daringly different. The MK2 US one just looks... plain. It's forgettable already, it's lumpy, it's fat (those massive rims just look lost in the sea of metal), and it shares its outline with every '90s 3dr coupe around. Not brilliant.

Since all the cool kids aredoing it....

Ferrari
Porsche
Lamborghini
Bugatti
VW
Nissan/Datsun/Infinity
Honda/Acura

  • 400, 412, Berlinetta Boxer. :scared: Ok, maybe not ugly, but I don't think they look very good.
  • 928.
  • 350 GT.
  • EB 110 :scared:, Galibier.
  • Thing, Harlequin Golf. But ugly is awesome in these cases. Routan
  • Versa, new Maxima, Gloria (also cool), EX
  • All of Acura, minus the TSX.

Um... Take it back, I drive one and its a beautiful machine :) And riced Focus's (Focai?) I think I may have seen one in my entire life. They certainly don't litter the road.

I think any first gen Focus owners would agree with me that they are some mighty fun cars to drive and they look pretty damn good compared to the competition.

The 2010 Subaru Outback is the ugliest vehicle currently sold in North America. I'd tell you to go to Subaru's site and look at it, but your eyes will melt.

Bad example with the Soul, Jon. I know it's actually a pretty good car, but it's hella-ugly.

Edit: I'll also argue that the Lamborghini Alar Concept is the spawn of satan.
*snip*

Thankyou, Lamborghini USA.
That's not an official Lamborghini concept, though (thank god), as it the work of Lamborghini LantinoAmerica, or in short, 1 of the Lamborghini dealer divisions idea of a re-done Diablo (much like the Coatl).

Ferrari: 456 and the California, possibly the Enzo and it's variants too.
Porsche: Panamera...possibly the ugliest modern car on the road.
Lamborghini: Espada and the LM002.
Bugatti: Veyron
VW: New Beetle and Routan
Nissan: New GT-R, first gen Altima, Titan, fifth gen Maxima
Honda: First gen Insight, US-spec Odyssey, Ridgeline, and the new Accord Crosstourer

Agree with all of those apart from the 456 and the Insight. The second-gen Insight is just an ugly Prius. The first-gen was an "unusual" CRX. It wins by default

Lemme try.

Ferrari: 612
Porsche: 914, 924
Lamborghini: 350GTV
VW: Thing
Nissan/Infiniti: QX56, 2003 M45, Cube, Micra, Murano, Rogue
Honda/Acura: Element, CR-V, European Civic, MDX, ZDX

I'd disagree with most of those! The 914 and 924 certainly aren't ugly to me, though I can understand them being an acquired taste. Indeed, I know quitea few people who prefer the front- and mid-engined Porkers to the rear-engined ones. I like the Nissan Cube. I'd be inclined to agree with the Murano, but only the facelifted version - the first one looked great as far as SUVs go and then they ruined it with a facelift. I personally quite like the European Civic too. It's an interesting design.

Though I think point proven that the manufacturers listed are all capable of designing ugly cars...

The Redback isn't that bad...

Carbontech_Redback_Spyder_2.jpg

(Keep in mind that this is an Australian supercar. Yes, we actually have churned our these things too! So, inevitably, I am biased :P)

But like other almost track-dedicated production cars, design isn't so much an issue as is going ballistically fast (see Ultima GTR). Afterall, no-one is going to be able to critically assess the car's aesthetic details when it is travelling at 300kmp/h. Design should really only concern so greatly tamer supercars such as the CGT (beautiful) and Enzo (questionable).

The Redback is horrible.

The story behind it - An aussie shed build rocket - is awesome, but it is horrible. I thik actually its not as bad as that shot, its just you've picked a bad angle.

The Joss is another aussie supercar that looks way better.

OK I think I've found one that no-one can disagree with. Saw one today in a car park and thought to myself 'why would anyone buy that?'.

It's a variant of the Impreza. A completely unnecessary variant!

What's wrong with the Outback? I think it looks awesome. True the headlights are a little strange, but everything else just looks good.

The cake has been taken. Man, the things I'd say if I wouldn't get a warning or an infraction as a result.

Lamborghini: Espada
Nissan: New GT-R

phoenix-wright-objection.jpg

I agree with the rest, but these two?! Espada was fastest 4-seater saloon of it's era, a first super saloon before BMW even dreamed of the M5. It's spacious, it has a 4l V12 that develops more power than yank tank V8s of the time and it's definitely not ugly. And how can you say no to this?

And the GT-R.. well, it's not pretty even from my point of view, but it's more like functional tool where every contour and ridge has purpose. It does it's job.

Weirdly the only thing I find that throws off the look of the GT-R is the standard wheels. I prefer the Spec-V's midnight-purple and black wheels.

I don't know what they are like to drive, so I can't comment on the "horrible car" bit. But if I was looking to move a lot of people and suitcases, I think the R-class beats the crap out of any of the luxo-barge SUVs in the looks department. And probably functions much better as a vehicle, too.

I'd probably actually put it in the same bracket as a Renault Espace. Luxo-MPV, if you will.
