@ 151k how's the Merc run? I'm curious to hear about the newer Merc's reliability over 125k miles.
New!?
It's still a W124...
The interior looks new, for the most part. (except some of the carpet in the cargo area)
It runs really well! It had 137something when I got it.
My transmission did something really goofy a few days ago, though. It was acting like it wasn't totally in gear, and I had to go from 2 to 3 to D. I'm
a little really worried.
It stopped doing it after about three stoplights.
I love my car. It goes straight down the road for a couple minutes if you let go of the wheel. It rides nicely, but I-29 isn't the nicest road.
So far, I've only broken one thing: a wiper motor that I think I blew up with a non-microedge blade on a long road trip. Well, I've broken two things. I de-antennaed my car march 1 with the help of a car wash.
I did fail Missouri inspection in December for cracked outer tie rods, though. Now I'm aligned as close to perfect as I can imagine.
Other than that, all I've had to do is regular maintenance. Compared to my previous vehicles, this car has been a breeze.
My SC300 blew up a fuse panel, an alternator, had a massive short somewhere, and half of the electronic gizmos didn't work. The CD player was beyond repair and the instrument panel was burned out.
"My" 2003 Saab's fuel gauge and "infotainment" display didn't work, it ate O2 sensors once every two months, and it was attempting to break its third transmission. The sunroof was trying to give out, and the CD player would constantly make this grinding noise for an hour after the car was turned off. Apparently, the Saab is currently slipping out of third gear.
All I've lost on my E320 is my power headrest and the rear driver's window. The M104 still runs strong, and will pull 80 all day down the highway.
Doug said that I may lose a window on the W124, but when the nuclear apocalypse comes, it will be next to the Toyota pickups saying "let's go".
