Where are the cars for the Japanese 80's Festival?

I'm 45% through with the games and have yet to win a car that I can use in the Japanese 80's Fetival. I've also gone and looked through both used car dealers and the normal Japanese Showroom and haven't found one that meets the criteria. Every Japanese car seems to be from 90 up or its not a production model if it is from the 80's. Am I just missing something or do I have to wait a really long time before I get a car that can compete in this series?

i used to the nissan skyline gt-r (r32) ('89) i believe i found it in the used car lots.
 
you honestly cant find a japanese 80's car? how many showrooms are you aware of? you say "both" showrooms, so i presume somehow youve managed to get to 45% whilest totally missing the third one out. congrats! :indiff:
 
There's lots of good cars in the Historic Showroom for this event. My top picks are:

Mazda MX-5 '89 (versatile, but probably not the pick of the litter)
Nissan Fairlady Z '83 (bonus points for looking awesome)
Toyota Sprinter Trueno '83 (probably only if you're into Initial D)
Toyota Supra 3.0GT Turbo A '88
Nissan '89 (r32 or z32)

Those aren't all, just some of the higher-powered options.
 
I bought a nice used Mazda Miata MX-5 '89. It was a tuned :

Racing Exhaust
Full NA Tuning - 225 HP - no NOS
Super-close Tranny
Triple-plate Clutch
Racing Flywheel
Stage II weight reduction
Rollcage

Own S-1, S-2 and S-3 tires for various races.

It was a good set of races. Here are the points:

Aspec 27 points + 34 + 10 + 19 + 1 BSpec (I was tired).

It has won the Mazda Roadster Cup, the World Compact Car Race, the Roadster 4 Hours Endurance, and the Japanese 80's Festival.

All good tight racing. Very good investment. Plus I love Miatas - I own a 2001 Special Edition BRG in real life.

Ha. so true. 99% of the cars there are Japanese.
 
The Japanese 70's, 80's, and 90's challenges are all very easy to find cars for. 70's is probably the trickiest, but there's several new cars from the 70s that you can purchase if you dont want to wait around for the Bluebird '79 in the historic showroom.

Um....ok. When you are in Gt mode avatardd, look beside the Special Conditions hall....there should be a pale-ish car icon. This is the 60's-80's car lot. Here you will find the cheap thrills, as well as some awesome classics. If you see the Nissan 240RS, don't hesitate; buy it on the spot. It only shows up once in 700 days.
 
Yes it is true I had never visited the Historic Showroom as I completely overlooked it. I love GT4, but I really hate the map setup that makes you go back and forth a million different places. It also seems kinda dumb to me to label 80's cars as "Historic" but nevertheless I looked through and bought a Nissan 300ZX 2 seater (Z32) and won all the races easily without having to do any modifications to the car. Thanks to those that gave useful help and I'll leave the rest unsaid to the one that just felt like sounding like an @$$hole.
 
Yeah i'll second the 89 300Z, it was basically a ringer for me, all stock i was able to win no problem, probably one of the cheapest ways to go, if you need more power the lightened flywheel and chip should be enough tot give you the win
 
i had the same problem, couldn't find an 80's car to use that met the criteria. i guess i wanted to get to 57.8% complete and even pass mission 34, clean i might add, before deciding to go to gtplanet and find out why i can't find an 80's car. :dunce: anyway, i bought a toyota supra 3.0GT turbo A '88. hmmm, i guess i'll go finish the japanese 80's cup now

Japanese 80's Festival (5 races)
- Game mode : Single race
- Car type : Normal cars
- Tyre : Normal or Sport
- Origin of car : Japan
- Cars : models from 1980-1989
- License : Domestic A license for A-spec, not required for B-spec
- Prize : Cr. 300,000/100,000/50,000/40,000/30,000/20,000

but I dont think thats any helpfull info on what "CAR" to use.
 
I used an '81 Isuzu Piazza XE. You will need to buy some sort of Isuzu in any case to complete the Isuzu one-make race (you can't win an Isuzu anywhere else), and I believe that the '81 Piazza is both the cheapest Isuzu and the most powerful.

Except it doesn't list the cars that you can enter, and is missing some of the AI cars that can show up on race day.


The best performing car you can enter the Japanese 80's Festival event in is the 1983 Nissan Silvia 240RS (S100). Even in stock form and no tuning adjustments it will dominate all the cars, even the mighty 1989 Nissan Skyline GT-R (R32). My guess is that it'll give you about 25 A-spec points each race - depending on the AI cars that show up of course.

The 240RS only costs $25k... Unfortunately, it also only shows up for two weeks (71 & 94) out of the 100 week schedule. The GT-R on the other hand only costs $16k and is very common, showing up during 70 weeks of the 100 week schedule. You can also even get it during week 88 with only 6 miles on it, but it'll cost you $38k for the pleasure. :)

I used a Nissan Skyline GT-R from the 80's/Historic Showroom, only around
13 grand and gets the job done nicely.
