Which book are you currently reading?

Currently reading The Ultimate History of Video Games by Steven Kent. I have about 3 other books I'm part way through reading, really should finish them before I start others.

Oh yes, borrowed this one and devoured all 500+ pages in the past few weeks. Brought back a lot of memories, but it still didn't return any quarters!

Love military history... I unfortunately have more books than shelf space at the moment so it's rather messy, but at least it's organized! Your pick looks like a good read though so I'll have to look for it in the store at some point. Thanks for the tip-off!

One of the books I finished recently was Fire and Fury: The Allied Bombing of Germany 1942--1945 by Randall Hansen. It was a GREAT read - beautifully written and endlessly captivating... you should give it a shot!

I will definitely give that book a nod. I have about 12 books in my lineup right now that I have yet to read. No harm in adding 1 more. Next up is a book Mrs.Destroyah bought me called "A Man Called Intrepid". What it's about escapes me at the moment, but it's a WWII story. Also Rouge Warrior is another book that I couldn't put down. That one follows the founder of USN Seal Team Six Richard Marcinko. Totally different style of leadership and core values than Robin Olds (Fighter Pilot). :)

Just finished The Sword of Truth series (well until The Oman Machine comes out).

What other books does Terry Goodkind write that are good. Also, what other series is somewhat similar to this one?

TSOT series are awesome books. Well worth the read. Look to the other great Terry, that being Brooks, for more like this. The entire Shannara series is superb as well. I'm currently re-reading The High Druid of Shannara trilogy, Tanequil(bk2).

As for other Goodkind books, I don't think there are any. Did you get Debt of Bones yet? It's a short prequel to the entire series and focuses on the life of a young Zedd, before the barriers were put up.

What's "The Oman Machine"?
Turbedit: Nevermind, googled it. Sounds great. Due in stores July 19th, 2011.

Hehe! I have A Man Called Intrepid as well!:sly: It's on my to-read list, but I've heard many good things about it. I believe, if memory serves, that it's something to do with a guy named William Stevenson - he was Canada/UK's head spymaster during the war, so I have high hopes for it! Can't go wrong with spies, right?👍

Actually I had to read that book in junior high but about a 1yr ago I read it again. I was digging through my books, saw it & said why not.

Just started reading a book called Junky by William S. Burroughs. Saw it @ my friends house & the title caught my eye.

Working my way through all his books. Superb writer.

It was coming through my line at work too often for me not to ignore when it came out. I bought it then realized it was the second in a series. Read the first (Witch & Wizard), didn't much care for it, and since I hate leaving things unfinished I'm reading this too.

After the pain that was going through The Unbearable Lightness of Being, I'm now starting this:

Mario Vargas Llosa - The Feast of the Goat

This should be good. 👍

Furthermore, I'm still reading a few pages of Aligheri's Divine Comedy (translated to German, though) every now and then, but it's just not the kind of book I could read in one go:

I am Legend

Very, very different from the film. In fact a totally different story, with only certain aspects of the main character's daily life being similar in any way. It's a short story and i'm only a 1/3rd of the way through, but i can already see that it's going to be enjoyable, if a little bleak.

last book i read, just finished it

The-Man-in-the-White-Suit-by-Ben-Collins.jpg

i'm sure a few people here have also read it i hope, i dont do much reading but i loved this one

I'm in the process of ordering a few books, and might give that one a try. 👍

Apex (from GT5 SE) I hate the small print they made for this. Good read on the toilet though. You can lean forward while reading so the eyes can read the way too small font.

Michel Vaillant - Number 13 at the start. These are classic.

Too bad Hollywood can't do this one any justice.

I Am Legend? I like that film(not read the book yet tho)
He also wrote the story that became 50s sci fi fun The Incredible Shrinking Man!

I'm currently reading The Wind from Nowhere by J. G. Ballard (1961)

"They Call Me Killer" - by: James Duthie (Sports broadcaster) with stories told by Brian Kilrea (Killer).

Fantastic book if you like hockey and are interested in the way a CHL (16-20 yr old elite players) team is run. Kilrea's stories show a fantastic outlook on hockey and life in general, there's stories about him from all sorts of former players and associates of it, and it's a very entertaining read. It reads like the way a guy would tell a story in his living room, because that's how it was written, Duthie took a tape recorder with him and recorded Kilrea's recollections, and wrote them out later on.

I thouroughly enjoyed it, and even if you only have a passing interest in hockey, you'll enjoy it.

The book had people become vampires. All you need to know to see how fail the film was. All four film adaptions.

Is this the xxx hundred mile per hour wind that covers the entire planet and forces humanity underground?

I remember reading that, but I honestly can't recall anything about the story... so long ago.

Love old Sci-Fi... unfettered by the need for "realism." Wild stuff, really.
