Remember that 802.11g has a shorter range than 802.11b, so if you're stuck in some corner of a building you may be out of range of an access point. Also, it's not much use if all the access points on your campus are 802.11b! (Which they probably are unless your campus is massively cash-rich or only put their WLAN in in the last three months).

I don't know how much money they have....but hell right now ASU is ranked as the #1 party school in the US by playboy magazine....that doesn't help me tho....
