Cockpit if I can see the road properly and bonnet cam if I can’t.
In cockpit view you have two option wobble 1 and 2… Wobble 2 makes the view dynamic while W1 is more of a fixed cockpit view. I use W2WHat's this wobble you speak of?
Bumper cam is optimized with not technically needing radar since the sides of the screens darken when another driver gets close. I wish they’d improve on radar, nothing worse than going through or into a left hand corner and having to watch the bottom right of your screen. Who at PD thinks that’s acceptable radar? Unless you’re running VR and can look around or have a spotter like in Project Cars 2, then we need better radar. ACC has good radar.I've settled on bumper cam. I'd use cockpit if it had better/any position adjustability and fov settings but as it is it's too rigid and borders on un-useable in some cars. Bumper cam has good situational awareness and the best hud afaic. It's not actually a lower eyepoint than the in car view either (I've spent some time determining this lol). It's just pushed forward closer to the bumper - which in my case actually works pretty well because I can't position my TV closer than a little more than a meter from my wheel. Also, having used bumper now for a long time I find when I switch to the cockpit cam for a bit it feels quite a lot less smooth and precise in a performance sense. I've sort of come to the conclusion that even though the cockpit view has been a part of GT since what, GT5? the game is still really optimized for the classic GT bumper cam.
hahaha, I just realized I posted essentially this same stuff way back in this thread. Oh well...
I think this is where VR would really shine. You can just turn your head to look in the mirrors. On a screen it doesn't work so well. Then again, you can't look to your left or right in the bumper or hood camera view that easily either, especially if you use a wheel. So, you kind of have to rely on the radar or those little warning radar things on the HUD to know if you have someone to the side of you.I really hope that PD reworks the cockpit view for GT8. In some cars you can't even see the side mirrors. Drove the Radical in a Track Day lobby on Nordschleife yesterday and there's no way to see if someone's behind you.
