Im liking it. Its about time action is taken against people who think they dont have to obey the rules like everyone else. I hope when they return, they will have learned their lesson, and will not do it again. đź‘Ť

^^Well, @ least the ban is a temporary one. I can't say I agree w/ the decision to ban, but then again I'm not a moderator. I would like to note though, it seems the trend to warn/ban immediately follows aggrevation by those who are not mods..Perhaps if further efforts are made to ensure advertisement of the AUP is carried out by mods/admins alone, as opposed to those who believe is their duty to do so based on some privilege, then the retalitory posts that seem to incur such actions will most likely be minimized...I'm just saying....

They presented to you at time of sign up, its not their fault you scrolled to the bottom and clicked accept without reading. Then again its only proper english they are asking for, doesn't seem to hard to follow?

I think it's alright to enforce proper English but I think when you get warnings for not capitalizing a letter or not putting a comma or whatever in the right place, then it's getting a little ridiculous. I dont have a problem but i think it's it should be some leeway for the small stuff.

Agreed.
 
Yes but they were warned by multiple mods. And yet to continue to do it. That's why they got banned. Its not like they just instantly got banned, they were warned.

As far as non- moderators acting as mods, it just stirs up way more trouble and is followed by real aup violations. Let the mods act as such and simply mind tour own business unless it is a personal attack on you, even then just report it.đź‘Ť

I post from the app about 90% of the time. Which the phone autocorrects and gives if not adds the punctuation in for you. As for the personal attacks on me all the time for telling people to be aware of the aup is not to act like a moderator, its to help you guys from what happened today. In other words I'm helping you. But most the time its peoples attitudes that get them in trouble. You may not like having to follow the aup which most the time I don't, but you have to remember this is a piblic forum veiwable by the world. Its not some text message to your friends. Jordan made this website so people like you and me can find one place to talk about Gran Turismo. I say we give him big thanks and give him respect by doing what so little is asked. Don't you think?

So apparently my previous post was ignored, probably because of proper grammar usage(irony!). First, you do not start a sentence with "and". Secondly, as they have proven before, the mods are more than capable of explaining themselves, assuming they choose to do so. I read the "banned log", and while I don't agree with the action taken, I understand it. What seems to be misunderstood is the factors leading up to such actions. If I can see the trend that seems to proceed most AUP violation actions, I sure hope the mods are taking action to minimize its proliferation.

I was referring to the part to let the mods be mods and have them correct members as they see fit. They were made mods for a reason and they should be the ones running the show; not self-proclaimed mods who are, in reality, merely registered users.

I don't even think it's worth the effort to try to elaborate. He's made it quite clear he's going to say what he pleases. I guess I can only hope that the mods will realize his actions are more harmful than helpful and act as such..If you want a quick laugh, check out his team thread. Check the timeline of the lead up to slicks' ban compared to the only self deputized enforcement of AUP. I've heard people refer to him as a troll before, but in my experience trolls aren't that selective...lol

There are a lot of times where people help people by suggesting they use proper grammar and punctuation, but it's how you go about it that makes the difference. That is when the attitude gets people in trouble. I would not have a problem being corrected if there was an issue with grammar, punctuation or any other aup violation, but it has to be done the right way, unless your a mod.
My whole point was that the mods do a good job of keeping the forum clean so posters need to be respectful of each other, especially when you decide to correct someone's post.
Spank this isn't really directed at you, it's just that there has been way to many flame wars because of a non-mod bringing up the aup the wrong way.
 
A few things:

  • DogFightKingz was temp-banned for far more than basic lazy grammar. The amount of poorly-written AUP violations he used to harass other members means he's lucky to even have the ability to be coming back at all.
  • Another member simply reminding others of the rules they themselves agreed to on sign-up is not instigating. I know when I was a regular member, I'd much rather be reminded of rules by another member than find out the hard way with warnings and infractions.
  • Pointing to the AUP only to then turn around and insult people with name-calling will not end well for any person.

This discussion about DogFightKingz' ban and the other issues surrounding it is now over. If you don't have anything relating to White Smoke Gang's team discussion, it can be discussed elsewhere.
 
^^Color me satisfied.. Team, I guess I'll see you online tomorrow. Saturday night's usually a prime drift time but I need to catch up on sleep.
 
I honestly don't think it's a good idea to protest, I thought I was banned but seemed like it was a error or I got points removed either way I got lucky. All we can do is hope he will be free soon

He will, but remember this incident is not to be discussed further. Squeaky wheels got the grease, and in the end(after 3 days), no harm, no foul.
