White Smoke Gang !

Welp that is your opinion but what is gonna be yalls comeback when I have a 550 and below hp Ford GT the only arument there will be is that it is an MR. Well mabey one day as you call noob cars but I see them as a high power class. Mabey we will be able to put on an event with a good set of rules and an open drivetrain mabey even walmart & psn gift cards. That would spice it up but until this community gets off of the real life and starts viewing it as a game we will never get to this point. Not saying the communitys choice of cars is bad but it gets boring fast just doing low pp or mid range hp cars all the time. But its here say stay sideways and I'll be home next friday and be online sometime that day after I update a 5 months worth of updates.

See everyone soon and for the one's I wont see be safe and have a good holiday and a happy new year.

Yeah just my opinion, I see where you come from by calling it a "High Power Class"
There should be a comp just for that class.

Sounds like you're more into an arcade status. Forza is on Xbox man.

Xbox ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh no you just didn't lol. No bro its not the arcade look I'm looking for I am looking for a high hp open drivetrain good set of rules event oh yeah by the way let me know when VDC starts might throw in a $20 psn card for a prize

What we do is restrict to make the comp as even ss possible for everyone. Which is why people care signing up with ae86's. If you put all drive trains together which run different drift lines, it will be a disaster.

Spank, im interested to see whats your viewpoint on the vettes/vipers ?

FYI, Formula D is pretty much unrestricted. The only regulations is under 700hp, ad obviously rear wheel drive. This means you can use MR and RR as well. So maybe you should check that out :D

Sorry for thread jacking! Good to see you drifting last night slick-bro!

Yeah but even with a lack of chassis restrictions they still make adjustments(not possible in GT5) such as restricting tire tread width in order to even out the comps so that AE86's can realistically keep up with the vettes and vipers...on GT5 the only way I could see to even out the competition would be to place a lower hp or pp limit on cars known to have high torque and wide tire profiles(vette, viper, gulp...BTR) because they simply have the ability to carry more speed sideways on their 245 and up rear tires as opposed the the 215s most of the jdm cars seem to be using.

They are now allowed in S4. Only in pro championship, but there are limitations on them. Since the hp restriction is 550, the Zr1 nor the ACR are allowed. You may not restrict stock power. It will be interesting to see how this season plays out. But like Marcus said Formula D does not restrict drive train like we do at VDC. But their qualifying scoring system is not based off a number ranking like ours. Its more or less personal opinion averaged between three people. Maybe FD is more of your liking?

^eh, I think the sentiment is more for how things were before drifting got "NASCARed", when people stopped themselves from running so much hp because they knew it would inhibit their chasing ability short of passing..I personally don't have a problem w/ vipers or vettes or ford gts other than the fact they were purpose built to go thru corners as quickly as humanly possible even whilst under "controlled oversteer" conditions...oh and courtesy rolls, no one seems to like courtesy rolls anymore; just WOT into the corner to get that reverse entry, and then speed off as fast as possible..half the drift battles I see are basically cat and mouse touge-ish battles in which the competitiors are trying their damndest to get to the finish 1st (hopefully) without hitting each other.

Thanks 👍 That may have been one of the best Night Slides I been to.

Edit: I agree with MegaMarc again. The Vette/Vipers are already fast, then they just run away because they can.
But its the worst when they actually get votes for being fast.

Speed matching is strictly enforced in VDC.

I like Megamarc's idea of putting PP restrictions on certain cars (Vette, viper, etc) that we the community have determined to have an advantage due to torque levels and tire width.

I think it's a shame that we have, to a degree, pigeon holed ourselves in a rather narrow group of cars that are "acceptable" drift cars. And I agree with Robby that its getting a tax boring seeing all the same cars (Z's, Supras, BMW's etc) in comps over and over again. we have so many cars available to us in this game, lets try to use them all...after all, variety is the spice of life :) An ae86 vs a viper might be stretching things a little far, but it would be really great if we could come up with a way to have a much wider range of cars compete against each other in a fair manner.

I think to much of reality and don't see myself drifting a 100,000 dollar car off the show room floor. Just not my style and that reflects in my comps.

I love the Z31, I just wish it was an 86 turbo, not the 83..the hood scoop is atrocious and off centre, and the 86 turbo ground effects are so much better looking...but the BTR is an 86 too so I'm staying somewhat true to the old school; like Rauh-Welt's founder in high school or something..lol

I just drift what I want, I think I have put myself out there enough to show that I can drift almost anything. I can go from a 260 HP S13 to my VDC Corvette, and I can have fun in both all day. To me that is what matters. If I would show you guys my VDCS3 setup you would wonder how I won those two rounds. My setups were not even close to being right at all. The only way every car would get an even playing field would be to have different tire sizes, which would be hard to limit unless there were added into PP.

I think the aforementioned "pigeon holing" is simply fantasy imitating reality given the history of competitve drifting, you start with a rx7/silvia/86 until you attain some level of sponsorship then its mustang/350/viper/some manner of scion. The difference in GT5 is that advantages in grip and torque are inherent in the commonly used chassis for competitions(vette/viper/bmw/c63) because despite their civilian clothing, these were vehicles designed specifically with super car-esque abilities in mind...I've got an idea for a drift comp; no competing chassis or chassis mate can hold or have held a nurburgring record at any time...see the variety of competitors you'll get then!
I guess drifting stopped being as cool to me when all of the competitors cars started looking more like NASCARS instead of modified passenger vehicles

Something I wasn't previously aware of, and am really glad to hear; I ever normalize my schedule I might just have to compete in this here VDC...lol

Wow I really must say this is a good collection of views on the subject at hand. That I have been stressing to this community for sometime, again sorry slick for thread jacking. But I guess I'm going to have to hit formula drift up this year if I have the time. I would love to run the VDC but the car choices are unapeling to me as of right now.

Another question for spank where you serious when you told me that after the VDC you where going to hold a 4wd open comp of some sort. Cause I would find that one interesting too.

And fcpmarcus thank you for your comments you seem to be on the same page I am on bro.

No problem, pretty good topic and discussion at hand. Its always interesting to see other peoples viewpoints.

Congrats Slick!!! I agree with Crisp, definitely one of the best days of my life lol. I'm not sure if there's anything that makes me as mad on as frequent of a basis as driving (it's actually other people's driving that makes me mad lol), but I would die without my license and car lol. No better way to clear your head than going for a rip on a mountain road :D

When I was in NY I found traffic to be heavy and a lot easier to walk around. It may not be as safe, but it is a lot less hassle. Anyway congrats bro.
