No, drag queens are not controversial.
That's not a drag night with adults, that's drag queen story time which is to do with CHILDREN who should not be exposed to it.
Children have been "exposed" to drag for decades without harm:

Not that that seems to have stopped certain media outlets from misrepresenting drag queens as predators:

Right-wing media figures have stoked the fires of political violence by claiming that drag queens are a threat to children and that political solutions are insufficient

Ah, my bad. I should have known by now the bomb threat isn't the issue for you.
You did not give a good example to back up your point.
Why shouldn't children be exposed to it? - by 'it' i'm assuming you mean the concept of being transgender.
Because theyā€™re too young to understand it.

Burning down a donut shop is silly. But how did they know that the arsonist did it as a result of ā€œfearā€ perpetuated by the right?

Burning down a donut shop is dangerous. And it was holding a drag event. It sounds very unlikely that the guy who did it simply didn't like the shape of their sprinkles.

Now do the other one hundred and forty incidents.

Is that not the whole point of it? - to allow children to understand that not everyone is born the same before they develop prejudices against what isn't 'the norm'?

Its not going to turn children into transexuals, but it will let them understand that they're nothing to fear. And if any of those children (about 1% of the population identifies as trans) at some point develop feelings that they may be trans, then they should have a better understanding of what it is and, hopefully, be more accepted due to better education about it.

Actually, I did. You questioned if conservatives "have or will" terrorize drag people & you've been given 3 examples now. My mistake of using "night" instead of "show/event" doesn't sway from that.

The hand waving you do to excuse fear & antagonizing responses from conservatives is next level.

"Uh, that's a drag queen book reading event, not a drag night & I'm more concerned with the kids being read to than the bomb threat."
"A donut shop held a drag event & was immediately attacked after it was closed, but how do we know they're connected to right-wing rhetoric despite the anti-LGBTQ+ note left on the door?"

@ScottPuss20 I'd say you should find another tree, because you're barking at the wrong one.

Indeed. Itā€™s crazy how a discussion about Jaguarā€™s strange avant-garde advert that doesnā€™t actually mention cars has ended up as a heated debate about acts of terrorism against drag shows, but we definitely strayed way off topic about 5 pages ago.

Iā€™m not sure if controversy was Jaguarā€™s intent with their ad, but if it was it has certainly been achieved!

Kids should only begin to learn about it when they're teenagers starting to go through puberty.

There would not been a bomb threat if such a stupid thing wasn't planned.

Did the person who torched the donut shop say that "Fox News made me do it"?

So, it's the drag queens' fault the bomb threat was called, not the actual sicko threatening to blow up children?

Goodness grief, I'd hate to see your stance on rape victims, then. Calling it the end of the discussion my guy, your line of reasoning in this thread is beyond forum etiquette of response.

I wouldn't say it was their fault but it triggered a response that otherwise would not have occurred.

Also, rape is a completely different story. I would NEVER blame the victim for it.

We have members here smashing their precious anti-woke buttons and clutching at imagined problems so they can close the shades upon a world which they safely refuse to gaze upon, yet quickly criticize without leaving their screens. All of this commotion: over a vehicle they haven't seen, nobody's driven, due to the advertising anxiety which does not accurately represent their version of a mythical idealized individual. But hey, advertising has no effect on you, right?

Is it possible to laugh myself to sleep over the bellyaching of others, or is that cruelty?

I've changed my mind about it being trolling - I think I was maybe giving Jaguar's ad team too much credit - though the publicity that their 'new direction' has generated will certainly not have done them much harm.

Regarding my mate's comments about Jaguar trying to entice disaffected Tesla owners though...

Probably won't sway any Model 3 owners given the price points we're talking about, but I reckon there definitely are folks who have a Model S nearing its trade-up date and would be open to an appropriate "look at me and my paycheck" alternative now.

Sounds like my Mother, back when she bought her 300C. She still regrets trading it in for the Juke NISMO.
