He'll be up there for definite,as will all the rest of the 'aliens' plus I think theres alot of players from pc racing games that'll be pushing as well.
I'll be too slow to qualify,be lucky to get top 5000 the way its going :)
and even if(a big if) I did,I'm too old for the fitness sections :scared:

It all depends on the final round 8-5 you might be slow now but who knows what is going to happen in the final round so you might surprise yourself.

I'm too young to drive a real racing car anyway, so even if I do become one of the fastest on GT Academy within the final rounds then I won't proceed further :( .

Tidgney. For the UK region anyway.

Rutter or Ghost for sure for the UK. In fact I'm looking forward to the pushing of times in that round :)!

For those who don't think you have a chance, don't think like that, rather think how you can improve to get that extra tenth. If your still not sure I'll be posting a top tips video before the final week on how to get those extra tenths, hundredths and thousandths!

For sure? Anyone forgetting EDDSKILL? If he is competing then he is the closest to for sure I would say regarding UK and also got the potential for wordwide top.

Anyway it will be interesting to see if there will be a new worldwide winner. I think Dan will be a good shout for potential person to topple Arnaud. Might depend on which of the best drivers have the most free time over the two week period though. Will be also interesting to see how well newcomers do, especially the alien quick PC sim racers. Finally I wonder how the shorter period of time for the main event this year will affect the general competitiveness to get into regional finals. If I make it then I think the answer is that the competitiveness level has gone down .

I think Edd might not be competing this year as he was also training for the olympics last year? Don't quote me on that though. But I think anybody this year is in with a chance, even if Edd was competing, will be nice to see who tops worldwide as this is the largest leaderboard GT has ever had?

If that is the case good luck to him in the Olympics. He might still give it a go though and has immense raw pace which might be enough to go top again for UK region.

GT Academy 2010 EU had over a million downloads. This one is more interesting though as the leaderboard includes all countries with PSN.

The best of these competitions is yet to come, in years to come companies that organise events like this will invariably make it a lot better a lot fairer and not organised and treated like a children's school trip.

I'm 40 now, 20 years ago I would've put some effort in, there' not a lot of motivation for me and even more so its such a shame that some of the young ones can't be bothered to train.

Nothing changes though, Ed is still by far the fastest in the UK a lot of you may not know that he has done a lot this year much more than before on this game and has crept up higher in the top world ten by diversifying a bit with other games and controller events.
He is way too busy at the moment though and besides unless I've not noticed something there's a bit of confusion on whether ex-international finalists can compete again so Ed is worried about getting barred out of future events if he did get to Silverstone and there was some guys with loads of car experience or PR fitting youngsters.

Do me a favour though if they let the journalists go on track and not the competitors and they are too incompetent to avoid doing that messed up split screen again someone turn off the electric mains. :)
Also how do you make sure none of the competitors are told what the combo's are beforehand ? How do you know slower drivers are allowed to draft right up to you on the straights ? What about if someone is rammed off and nothing is done or people are put in the wrong grid position in vital races again?
Is it really worth all the time and effort for such a messed up selective PR event with massive technical lack of know how ? Think about that when you're pound up the hills getting fit guys!

I reckon I could organise a cracking event but in saying that I bet there's a good few that could too, people who have played the game for years and understand it. Not too technical, some variety of handling and some adaptability and with practice sessions to neutralise those that are fully familiar with the rig they might use with those that aren't.

Then you'd get a driver!
MAX age under 30 too !

I entered this competition because it's an opportunity to do something extraordinary with my life. I don't care how it's run and I don't care who I'm competing against - if Sony and Nissan are willing to give me a chance, I'm willing to jump through whatever hoops they put in front of me and fight to progress to the next round. No one is forced to enter this competition and if they aren't willing to take a chance and put in the effort, then they never would have had what it takes anyway.

The finals seem to improve a bit each year and I think this time around the organizers will have learned from a few of the mistakes made previously. There will always be some things out of their control, but this is the same with so many sports. You will never have a situation where everyone is perfectly equal. I feel it's best to accept the way things are and when the time comes just get on with it.

As for fastest in the final round, it's probably gonna go to Dan Holland, Titech or Takeuchi. If Edd decides to set some laps I'm sure he'll be right up there as well.

Well said. 👍

In my opinion, Dessy has the right attitude and approach to the competition which is the one employed by all the previous winners. It's the only one that will give you a chance of progressing and ultimately winning the competition. If your focus is on the organisation of a national final, steering wheels, the backgrounds of the other competitiors at Silverstone or anything else that is out of your control it will take away your energy from where it needs to be. Focus entirely on what you can control and what you can do to maximise your chances of success within the rules of the competition. Then you'll know that you've done your best and be happy with whatever you achieve.

As usual I'm looking forward to seeing how it unfolds.

As of right before rounds 5 and 6 opened, I'm consistently in the top 200 in all of the rounds that aren't a test of how fast you can go in a straight line. I hopefully will be fast enough to progress. I feel like I have a good chance.

I'm 13. :(

Thanks mate but I have no chance of topping UK/IRE board. I prefer racing to hot lapping. Your def in the groove so it's between you and couple others. These wee tests will soon be over and we can get on with a proper full lap :)

Now I'd be interested in seeing a video of the foot and hand work that goes into a fastest time. I can watch replays all day long but they're still replays at the end of the day. I want to see the person putting down the lap/corner(s). I want to see how fast they're turning into these turns and I want to see them tap dancing on the pedals. Know what I'm saying? Man it's late/early.

And once it's over we can then also start racing again to :D! Had some fun races before this :)! Doesn't matter with hotlapping or racing, your still a very quick guy!
