........ that put the blue lines on in pre-race qualifying in online lobbies?

So for those that don't realise when you chose "Qualify Alone" we now have the blue tracks for the other people in the room and their names displayed just like seasonal time trials. And there is no way (that I am aware of) of how to turn it off.

What is worse is that because the order you start off in is determined by your position in the lobby by when you joined and the start time is staggered so if you are last to join in a 16 person lobby there are 15 blue trace lines and people's names in front of you obscuring the track :-( This obviously gives an advantage to the room owner and especially if he is one of the quick ones.

Also because these tracks are no longer "the best times" it will also show crashes and people running off the track so it is **VERY** disconcerting to qualify now.

So I want to know who decided this was a good idea and did anyone here actually ask for this?

Also the minimum time for qualifying has been raised as well from 4 minutes to 5 minutes.

PD just fix your broken Beta release game and stop messing with stuff that is actually working!

Just checking, did you try up on the D-Pad?

I don't think I did. Others in the lobby tried as well and no one had any success. Definitely worth a go, stranger things have happened in this Beta release.

Regardless, I would still like to know what genius come up with this idea anyway. What possible use could it be? If you start first and are doing competitive times you won't see the tracks anyway. If you start last you will never get to the front and will always see the tracks, unless, you are super fast and the qualifying lasts longer than most races ;-)

I really do not see the point of this at all (shrug).

you can turn off the race display, in quick options… but this will only reese the names i suppose, the blue lines might remain there.

yeah other peoples" racing lines make it so much more realistic ....you know; we all see those lines IRL and on TV ;) why would not have them here ......

seriously ; MAJOR SCREW UP

this game is going down the wrong road.

It's worse than that, it can't find the road! It is still stuck in PD's parking garage with no wheels on it, the motor running on 3 out of 8 cylinders and the brakes and steering still in the design stage ;-)

Oh and the analogy gets better. Even if it was pushed onto the road the authorities would issue it with a defect sticker :-))

VBR
What an utterly stupid thing to do. PD are still not learning that what we want is OPTIONS! Why they insist on forcing things on us for no apparent reason is beyond me.

Can you even imagine what they will do if they do give you your shuffle racing back? Like you can only shuffle Go karts on night time tracks with weather, without rain tyres available and let's have the blue lines as well but only from the last race :-) Or you can only shuffle Moon Buggies at the Nordschleife, minimum laps 10.

I really think this is PD's way of getting us to stop asking for stuff. Give us utter garbage to keep us distracted from the real issues in this Beta release :-(

I still want to know who was the genius that came up with idea and who asked for it. So why did they give it to us?

Maybe PD are trolling...

Maybe they do these things intentionally, and then visit forums like these to just laugh at us while on their coffee breaks... I can just imagine them scrolling through the tomes of replies from all us p*ssed off gamers, munching away on their chocolate digestives and sipping their skinny lattes in fits of giggles at how annoyed people are at their 'work'. They've probably even got an office competition going to see who can find the most annoyed GTP user where first prize is to get dibs on 'fixing' an issue in the forthcoming update. If someone manages to win three times in a row then they get to create a totally new bug to put in the game, hidden away from plain sight, where the choice is made from a carefully, hand-picked selection made by none other than Kaz himself, truly guaranteed to p*ss everyone off even more...

Or maybe I'm just bored

Nice one:lol:

Things like that really make you wonder whether someone at PD actually plays the game. Many design choices seem like they are made by somebody who doesn't actually use the game as a normal user would.
Maybe they were infiltrated by EA

These complaints are nearly identical to the complaints users had about Real Racing 3 on mobile devices, which was released after EA took over the studio that created RR2. After 12 months of bonehead moves, they finally started listening and are making baby steps of progress.

Yep agree with all this except "munching away on their chocolate digestives and sipping their skinny lattes". Being from the land of Nippon I would suggest eating Sushi and sculling all their free Red Bull ;-) Can you image how many crates of free samples these guys would have from Red Bull?

And we wonder why we get these stupid updates? These guys must be all hyperactive and ricocheting off the walls they are all that zonked out on the caffeine rush ;-)

For the parents out there - have you ever seen a group of 3-5 year olds high on red lollies and soft drink at a party? Well that would be the PD programmers I would imagine. A lot of misdirected, intense energy, all being wasted but hey, what a party :-))

The easiest way to solve these issues, was if PD launched like a form, which could be submitted only once by each user, considering PSN nick, where it would ask our opinion and how to better the game, along with wished DLCs. In this case the most common DLC would win and then be released.
It would take time, and 'hard'work…. but at least the user would feel a part of it, and not only just because you have bought the game…

Dreaming it's still free :dunce:

I was thinking who's the genius at PD who made qualifier a mandatory 5 minutes now (it wasn't limited before, you could chose between 1, not 4, and 30 minutes), when it's already hard finding enough people interested in short qualifiers, but now this???

PD, one step forward 2 steps behind...

Still need fixing:
-second set of tires not lasting as long
-pit lag glitch
-intermediate times off (especially 2nd)
-(new problem with 1.05) wrong best lap times

It's very unthoughtful of them, & yet more evidence of them forcing things on us instead of giving us the option. It makes it very hard to set up 1 lap qualifiers, especially for tracks that are only 1 minute or so in length.

I was discussing this very thing with my regular crew only last night. Why weren't we give a number of laps option instead of a fixed time?

Yes, F1 has a "race together, fixed time qualifying" but Australian Touring cars are a "race alone" , one lap dash.

I should also point out neither has the blue lines of their competitors painted all over the track obscuring their vision ;-)

Yep, "The Real Driving Simulator" records a massive **FAIL** again! :-(

I should also make the point that not having the best lap time displayed for the lobby is becoming a real pain too. Being able to know which sector(s) you are better/worse than the opposition is fairly important to me anyway and I would think most other racers as well. So why change it?

Yep, "The Real Driving Simulator" records a massive **FAIL** again #2! :-( BTW for the record, there are not only two epic fails in this Beta release game , there are hundreds, it is I have just listed two glaring mistakes added by update 1.05 that pertain to qualifying.

The employee who spoke out loud, Noooooo.. no Micro transaction..Its toxic to our franchise and the risks are not worth the rewards!

These blue lines are absolutely ridiculous and extremely annoying. I was racing with friends today and we found them so distracting particularly when someone made a mistake - it seemed to make it ten times more likely that you would repeat the mistake. It also looks absolutely daft - if there is just one car in front of you it looks like you are chasing a sperm round the track!

The word "genius" should never even be in the same paragraph with PD. Maybe some better word choices to be associated with PD would be "thief, greed or liar"

I am skilled in the black art of "Sarcasm" ;-) Maybe I should change my name to "The Sarcastic Ninja" :-))

Anyway, whoever this paragon of intelligence is that did this I really wish he gets to know what a total moron we think he is.

Just maybe, if Kazunori San, spent less time in his race cars and giving less interviews about how good he is (was?) maybe even he might have noticed what is going on with his game?

I still want to know what idiot at PD actually thought this was a good idea? And how did it actually get the Ok from his boss? I believe even the work experience kid would not have done something as monumentally stupid as this!

I think I know who the genius at PD was...

Last week we were doing a qualification and someone entered the room.

He said, "I can see the black car, but I can't see the other dudes".

Then the race started and he said, "I can see them now".

My conclusion is that the watcher was a PD Design Executive / Work Experience guy.

Edit: sorry miss read the topic

The only solution to this right now is to set the room up with the driving line disabled, or join a room with it off.

With it on, when one player starts using the driving line it seems to come on for everyone else.

And by the way this thread would be a lot more useful if you could actually title it like "driving line on when turned off". Your drama queen like title ruins the chance of people using this thread.

There's many a genius at PD, unfortunately there's no:

i) acceptence testers
ii) people who do, know or organise online racing for their product
iii) know or give a **** about anything outside the Japanese market
