I noticed in an online race yesterday the blue ghost lines were still visible on my side monitors during the race, but not on the center monitor. Wasn't a big deal because I only caught glimpses of them, but they were definitely there. Stupid geniuses.

I freestyled Lego when I was a kid. None of those specialised pieces and kits they use these days. We just made our own fun with what was available.

Similar creativity can be used with GT
If what you are saying is that GT6 is about as sophisticated as Lego was when you were a kid and therefore you have to make your own fun from it, I think we can agree.

Thats because if you enjoy a broken game, you are also probably dysfunctional
*Yawn* That's the best you got? So because I enjoy a "broken game", I'm dysfunctional... Sad trolls.

This. Also, don't forget imagination. Something "somebody" lacks. :sly: Don't waste your breath. :)

You are 100% correct.

The point I (and may others) am trying to make is that this release of GT6 is *overly* buggy and incomplete and for all intent and purpose may as well be a Beta release only fit for testing purposes. I (and many others) feel like we have paid for the privilege to be Beta testers.

So here is a conundrum for you. "What do you call a Beta version that is just packaged and sold anyway?" It would appear that the only differentiation is the "For Sale" sticker. Is this really how you want to judge the acceptability of software? Would you buy a car and take delivery of it when the salesman says "Oh just come back in a few months and we will change the space saver tyres and rims for new ones and somewhere down the track we will develop and fit the turbo for you". "Oh, and BTW it won't turn left sometimes but will have a look at that on a service in the future."

As has already been pointed out the game still does not have the features in it that is promised on PD's website so it is still incomplete and as such not a final version. Not to mention the bugs are more like a Locust swarm ;-)

We can play semantics all day but the fact remains the game is broken and PD's lack of communication is a major concern.

When I encounter buggy software I call it buggy software. And GT6 in it's current state isn't the final version, it's the release version + 5 updates. It might take a year or more until the final update is released.

And there aren't really that many bugs. Not like it's a game that's been shipped without bug testing.

Would legos been fun if the box showed 125 pieces and they gave you 40? Then told you they would give you a couple new pieces every month til you were able to finish.
But in GT6 the game is completable. It's not like it prevents you from doing anything to finish or enjoy the game.

But we have both completed this watered down version of the game in a very short period of time. How often can you repeat the same events over and over again

The number on the box is actually a code. A code I cracked at a very young age.

I paid for 40 pieces and made a helicopter. The rest are bonus pieces.

That's why they will continue to add more to the game. You can repeat the events however many times you feel fit doing, because it's how fun you find driving a car round a track. If you get bored easily and take no enjoyment in driving itself, it isn't PD's problem.

It may not be my problem. I gave away my copy months ago. But its quite obvious by the fact that the price of the game was slashed from 60 to 40 less than a month after release. So PD does have a problem with its fan base, or as it stands former fan base

Thought for a moment you were double posting. Then I realized that it's probably an Ignored troll or two, and we are using the same Ignore list! :D

Conversation seems to have wandered slightly off course.... which is a shame because the OP cites a real issue that is causing problems for many people who have little or no chance of being close enough to the front to not have the track obscured by blue lines. @TT92 You lost your way when you started complaining about everything else, however and inevitably attracted the attention of the people who aren't vehemently anti-Polyphony as you seem to be. They also have a right to their opinions without you attacking them - in future encounters, word yourself more diplomatically. This is a friendly warning, future ones will not be.

Then we inexorably slide down-hill into sarcastic retorts and counters as many of you seem unable to resist the temptation to be petty. Its disappointing because from where I'm sitting, there is a good level of intelligence here (on the whole) being squandered on cheap shots. One protagonist has been permanently removed, since he clearly hadn't learned the lesson about required civility but I'd like to remind everyone else that none of you are above reproach and sometimes this is a very thin line you're walking.

Do we really want every discussion to inevitably degenerate to this? I do not, in case there's any mistaking my stand-point.

I saw this in the SNAIL races this past weekend. It was AWFUL and made qualifying a chore. The lines and names prevent you from seeing the corners properly. It's like they just enabled it because of form, not function.

Same thing goes for the driving gear selection. Using the R1 and L1 triggers to scroll made SO MUCH more sense and allowed you to see the gear on the driver without the need to explicitly select it. It's like these folk don't play the game at all or they have little care for functionality.

I honestly wonder why titles like these are allowed? I contend that the title sunk this thread.
I feel like thread titles should convey the contents of the thread.
Sorry to go off topic

Agreed. Kicking it off with a sarcastic insult wasn't going to lead to anything constructive.

I do apologise again and I don't want threads degenerating into slanging matches.

I do feel somewhat justified in my responses to those that have a blinkered view of this game and have slighted me. I will try and use more self control in future and not lower myself to their levels.

At the end of the day it is a legitimate concern we have about the game and PD needs to have it's attention drawn to it so it can be rectified.

I read in a post that I am also criticised for the title of this thread. I would like to state for the record I deliberately chose a title that would gain attention and was very cutting to get my point across.

I may seem to be anti-Polyphony but I am not. I am overly critical because I am quite passionate about the game and am so sorely disappointed with what we now have as opposed to what I know it could be. I think this is the underlying point of all of this. GT6 could be so much more than what we have now.

I'll leave you (and everyone else) with this thought. Many years ago the great Kenny Roberts Snr. was asked in an interview why was he so openly critical of the Yamaha factory and the bike he was riding, even though he was winning races on it. He answered "If I told them they were doing a good job they would just sit back and just stop improving the bike."

At least he had a direct line of communication with the developers ;-)

It doesn't contravene the AUP. It isn't our job to police how people present their points or arguments beyond what is acceptable in terms of profanity, abuse, or bigotry. Being sarcastic certainly doesn't breach any rules, thank god.

I think most people feel the same, it's our passion for the GT series that moves us to speak out about it's short comings. After all, if we were apathetic towards the game we wouldn't even be on here talking about it, would we! That's why I make threads, make replies to threads, & even make memes; all in the hope that if we make enough noise PD will listen & start to inject some common sense/thoughtfulness into their design decisions.

Well that's one way to change the topic. What if we don't believe in god?

I totally agree about the passion for the GT series, a passion I will freely admit is recently acquired, but burns incredibly fiercely. I passionately want PD to listen, and take our guidance on board.

BTW, I see evidence of this listening, such as in the 1.05 camera implementation, the addition of multi-screen and other details.

I'm also trying to "make enough noise" such that his community will "listen" and "start to inject" less sarcasm, derision and negativity towards PD, and replace it with respectful, constructive criticism.

I understand better now the sources of community frustration, and the internal desire to vent. We wish that we had evidence that PD actually reads what we say, but sometimes, I wonder if that would be a good thing for us if they did. (And of course they do read at least some of these forums!).

I know that when someone comes to me with criticism of my work, and says "I can see ways in which this could be better" rather than "this sucks", or leads the criticism with a question of the type in this and other threads (including a lengthy, thoughtful, and otherwise valuable one of yours, @VBR! :)), I respond better.

Approached with invective and insults, I am more likely to decide that my critic is clueless and unworthy. I'm quite likely to use the virtual "Ignore Button". Worse, I go away feeling negative and demotivated, and less likely to live up to the expectations and hopes of my critic.

Here is a suggestion on how to handle delivery of criticism. Imagine you are sitting in an office with Kaz or the Gran Turismo Product Manager in Japan, and, for a moment imagine there is no language barrier. You have requested this meeting and now it's time to open your mouth. What words will you choose to open the conversation, and what sort of tone will you attempt to project during the conversation?

OK, back on topic, does anyone know the name and title of the genius at PD......? If so please post it so that this thread can be successfully closed.

@GBO Possum - Awesome post! The trouble with me is I like irony, & have a very dry sense of humour, I really like the memes thread. Maybe that does come across as being rude sometimes, especially to the Japanese, but I certainly don't mean to be that's for sure.

This is an open discussion forum not a one on one conversation with PD or Kaz. Different context completely and so we shouldn't expect the same behaviours and I'm quite certain they are intelligent enough to know the difference. Any company looking for some raw and brutally honest feedback would find a forum like this invaluable because its not burdened with social protocols and cultural limitations.

PD are geniuses. When I looked at @GBO Possum avatar, I got curious and click on my GT6 Stats icon, and there I was stunned  time really do flies when I am driving in GT6, I have driven over 24000km and I enjoyed every km of it. Spent over 3900km on Bathurst alone, smooth experience so far. Tell me any racing game that could give me that ? Drive over 24000km in 3 months and I even didn't realized it.

My last play session spent on building a Spoon S2000 Coupe Hardtop AP2 replica, tuning the suspension and LSD on comfort soft, I drove over 300km, and I still wanted more, the car was just so addicting :D

Avery good analogy. Now imagine at that meeting Kaz has his head down working on his computer, keeps checking his emails, looking at his twitter account and is listening to radio and generally ignoring you. I ask, what words would you choose to open the conversation with so as to gain his attention?

I personally would politely ask him to treat me with common courtesy and then, after being ignored further would probably adopt a very negative attitude at my continued snub.

Mmmm............... probably a bit like what is happening on this forum. Despite numerous posts asking (pleading?) for information about updates and time frames absolutely nothing has come of it. We (the community) here are being ignored and treated with disrespect.

Then with the 1.05 update I feel like we just been shunned. And to just go full circle, it's just like asking for a bike for Christmas and all you get a stick with some old string attached to it ;-) We wanted new tracks and cars (as promised) and what did 1.05 give us? Stupid blue lines in qualifying!!!! <both fists crashing down on desk and veins protruding out of neck with teeth clenched>
