I totally agree about the passion for the GT series, a passion I will freely admit is recently acquired, but burns incredibly fiercely. I passionately want PD to listen, and take our guidance on board.
BTW, I see evidence of this listening, such as in the 1.05 camera implementation, the addition of multi-screen and other details.
I'm also trying to
"make enough noise" such that his community will
"listen" and
"start to inject" less sarcasm, derision and negativity towards PD, and replace it with respectful, constructive criticism.
I understand better now the sources of community frustration, and the internal desire to vent. We wish that we had evidence that PD actually reads what we say, but sometimes, I wonder if that would be a good thing for
us if they did. (And of course they
do read at least some of these forums!).
I know that when someone comes to me with criticism of my work, and says
"I can see ways in which this could be better" rather than
"this sucks", or leads the criticism with a question of the type in this and other threads (including a lengthy, thoughtful, and otherwise valuable one of yours, @
VBR!
), I respond better.
Approached with invective and insults, I am more likely to decide that my critic is clueless and unworthy. I'm quite likely to use the virtual "Ignore Button". Worse, I go away feeling negative and demotivated, and less likely to live up to the expectations and hopes of my critic.
Here is a suggestion on how to handle delivery of criticism. Imagine you are sitting in an office with Kaz or the Gran Turismo Product Manager in Japan, and, for a moment imagine there is no language barrier. You have requested this meeting and now it's time to open your mouth. What words will you choose to open the conversation, and what sort of tone will you attempt to project during the conversation?
OK, back on topic, does anyone know the name and title of the genius at PD......? If so please post it so that this thread can be successfully closed.
