Why do people crack it so hard?

Right so basically were quite off topic by now. At the end of the day if you use comfort hards you WILL get better angle and generally more fun to be honest because it is more 'slippery'. It doesnt matter that you like Sports hards because everyone has there preferences but I would urge you to practice on comforts for at least a day or so and you'll soon see, like most people that used to use sports, that it is nicer to use comforts and that the result is much better.

Lol what a discussion.. It's just too bad most of the people drifting here are mostly kids and use controllers. I found drifting with controller rather cheesy then skilled, drifting with wheel like DFGT/g25/27/t500/fanatec or any wheel that turns up to 900 degrees take more skill then just taking a DS and go for it, It also do look ugly if you ask me seeing people all go full lock left, full lock right, full lock left etc while going sideways in one turn. Thats my opinion.

For the tires, I actually learned to love Sports Hard for racing, instead of Race Soft like most people use them, on a normal 400 hp sports car not even a racing car. As for drifting Comfort Hard is harder to get used to since you will go all the ways in the beginning especially with the wheel but once controlled you will be like "Ey, I am starting to control my drifts!"

As for beeing kicked for not using the you-always-see rx7, ae86 etc. Thats plain stupid and immature from people that are kicking others for that.. Thats the reason I only join the rooms where my mates are playing. Simply because I was kicked with no reason from the rooms I could find..

So because most people use controllers there kids? some people cannot afford a wheel. :S A bit cheeky that comment!

As for tyres. If the regulation in the room is Comfort Hard and you don't like it, dont join. no harm in asking indeed but people generally get annoyed because everyone will be asking for this and that and the host will usually spend time kicking or pleasing people. I know it's arrogant but in my room I just set my restrictions and unless you're ok, I'll just ignore you lol.

Awd, Almost every drift room hates awd cause it takes a LOT less skill and they mess up other peoples lines and they drift really fast.

Well for me thats not even true. I drift just as fast or even slower then what everyone else is. And i find that the wrx is about 90% harder to control then the FC i normally use.

Then you're doing something wrong. Either that or you're an incredible drifter.

And to the OP. The reason you get kicked is because your choice of cars are the trolls of online play. There are three types of cars that drive backwards around the track in drift rooms:

1. Fast cars (X1, FGT, LMP)
2. Heavy cars (Tank Car, Dodge Ram, Dodge Challenger)
3. Small cars (Diahatsu Midget, Fiat 500, Honda Step Van, Citroen 2CV, VW Beetle)

See what I'm getting at?

You're so pretentious...

I have a wheel and I am very fortunate and appreciative that I own one. Not everyone who plays GT5 is willing to go buy a wheel with their money.
Just because someone doesn't have one and you do does not give you the rights to talk someone down.

You have to be one of the most pretentious people on this forum..

+1. I'd love a wheel but cant afford one at the moment because of life getting in the way. I would appreciate one a lot more like you said.

Are you still going? You have stated your opinion 10 times, we get the hint. NO ONE CARES. Like I said we all have our own way of doing things, stop being such an ignorant prick. You speak before you know the facts, look at the car and notice what its like before you even try to judge.

You've done nothing in this thread except for trying to make yourself all high and mighty over people who use DS3 and have different ways of tuning/drifting their cars than you.

Blablabla.

Dude made a bold statement about the monaro being undriveable on CH which is not true, end of story.

Wow, I did not expect to see this. Good to know people still remember the past greats. Tandeming with Team FBI was the best :-) Too bad they are not around except for one or two members that I know of. Gone are the days of small teams filled with Pro+++ drifters. I am sure some are hiding in the shadows these days.
Do you remember GT3 much? The guy that put out the awesome drift video using powerball 3000 song (I think thats it). The guy has gone pretty far in GT academy. Bryan Heitkotter is the name.

Yea I remember that name! Mike from team FBI was my buddy, we used to play on xlink Kai on gt4 (I'm on one of his videos under the name waider).

Yeah!! I saw it on the GT news and I was like.... nooo surely that's not... But I went back and found the video and it was Bryan.
Mike was your buddy? What happened to him and the rest of the team over there? I'm pretty sure I am friends with 2 of their (old) Canadian teammates.
Xlink, bringing up the good times again. If you were here on GTP back then, you probably saw my name in the drift forum back then. My team did a lot for and on XLink.

He's busy doing video editing for an auto magazine website. He mostly films badass cars and auto salons. It's funny to know that it's his job now and it all started with gran turismo.

I was speaking my opinion, if you or other offended by that, sorry.

jeez

You have every right to speak out your thoughts but that doesn't mean you should go out and make silly assumptions of someone who doesn't have a wheel.
No need to boast just to make you feel better about yourself.

Oh god you seem to be a good psychologist to already know what I'm doing.. But I let you for what you are, this is my last post on this topic.

If people cant afford a wheel or don't want to, I have no problem with it. But it's still looking sh$t when people drift with controller full lock left, full lock right, full lock left etc while doing one turn what makes it look like an arcade game..

Um actually you seem to have a serious problem with people who don't have a wheel because you had to make statements about it.
Also I have seen some decent DS3 drifts when the controller sensitivity was added to the game. Everyone knows using a wheel requires more skill.

Drifting is drifting. It's all in the name of fun...

No crap!!! Thats awesome!!! I sent you a friends request on PSN so we can keep this thread on topic :-P

This is the thing, its not that we hate those kinds of cars or those tires, its that we hate the retards who think they're pro drifters because they're in an AWD on sports softs and hate on those using comfort hards which are proper drift tires. If they weren't so stupid about it people wouldn't care. But trolls will be trolls

And again he spoke the truth.

For proper tandems to work you need a "proper" drift car. You won't see someone tandeming in a van with an RX7. If so it won't look so good. They are just no match.

My Kombi didn´t liked this comment!

Seriously now, the OP is discussing 3 diferent subjects:

- Harshness, prejudgement... specialy when you have the duty of keep a healthy lobbie for drifting and friendship.
- AWD´s, tire limitation for a better room balancing. I guess these discussions are overfrayed...
- Unusual cars, preparing and using properly. Thats a rich subject, cose like he said, there is no other game able to make so many diferent cars in sideways, and this potential should be explored to the max.

It's pretty simple. I don't mind people using different cars at all, i just mind the fact that they are increasing collision possibilities.

-CH only, is way safer. Same as no AWD, or FF. If i join an online lobby and even see a 4WD (or FF car) and i don't know the person driving it, i don't bother.

I don't want to have to look back all the time for a retard that is emberassing to the drifting comunity. As i said in another thread: consider drifting in Gt5 track days. Do you see peopel using FF cars in Ebisu? Or other major track days over the world?

Comfort soft is the gt5 drift tire. Hard is the GTP drift tire. Would like to see some pro gt5 drifters tandem drifting using soft. Would be interesting.

Softs are just way to grippy.

I'm actually sick of hearing the phrase Pro Drifter on GT5 LOL... So far I haven't seen an official tournament that we can class ourselves as pro :).

As for the thread. People crack it because they will be fed up with demands of changing the room regulations. Before you enter a room you can tell what the tyre restriction is and majority of the time people ask you to put your 4wd away straight away.

If you ignore to read the room regulations then that is your own fault and rightly should give the host a little something to moan at. We don't set tyre restrictions so people can come and ask us to change it do we :)

See what I'm getting at?

I wouldn't consider it trolling. Every car is and should be treated the same no matter the shape and HP it is, if you are in a drift server and you can get it to drift then there really shouldn't be an issue. If its a 4WD then that's another issue.

The only 4WD car that I use is the Honda Odyssey and I always ask before using that, even with the guys in the drift team I'm in, if its ok then I do bring it out but much like every other car I have, in the ridiculous car category, I do pull over to the side of the track to let others pass. I'm a very polite "troll" if that's what you want to call me. I would say I am just a drifter who likes a bit of change every now and then and is fair to other peoples games. A troll is a person who purposely annoys because he gets a kick out of it. See where I'm getting at?

I hate AWDs with a passion. I really do. And I agree with everyone about it not being a fair game with them, plus a few other points others have said concerning other things. But the difference I am trying to point out is that there are cars that are used seriously and there are cars that are used for fun. I have my drift cars that I tandem with and I have my fun cars that I do not tandem with, unless someone asks to.
I don't think I could ever play a game with everything being treated seriously.
As long as you can drift your fun cars without ruining others games then I think it should be allowed.

I also don't drive backwards, I also refuse to even get a Redbull X1 cause I hate the damn thing.

I wouldn't consider it trolling.

DR;TL

I didn't say you were trolling, or driving backwards, or using an X1. All I said was expect to be treated as a troll if you use the cars associated with trolling, even if you are drifting properly.

Most times a host probably won't even see you on track. He'll just notice that someone's using a Fiat 500 or whatever and decide to kick him before he causes havoc associated with such cars.
