It's no longer DLC, faster to get to the track, night racing, room to run 5 wide and best of all it's perfectly straight. Indy is slightly curved, which is bad news if your trying to launch powerful RWD cars.

Indy is perfectly straight, and road surface is better for cars that like to fishtail so they won't spin out. Anything more than 2 or 3 wide will create room lag, so why would you want to run 5 wide? Night drag is cool and all, but you could also do that on SSR5/7.

- Many times when launching RWD cars you got to fishtail a little to keep them straight. Being 2 feet away from your competitor while your rear end is wiggling all around is not going to end well.
- I've always heard of the "No 3 wide" but I have played GT5 since it came out and never EVER saw a room where running 3 or more wide would consistently make lag. One of the biggest myths IMO.

O.G
Once everyone's comfortable at Indy, it's hard to get them off it...

First thing that comes in your mind when you're finding a room online;

Track - Indy

That's like saying "The gasoline motor is cool and all, but I'll stick to my Mule because I'm used to it more"

If you want to drag on SSRX, go ahead. But a lot of us have invested time for tunes specific for track conditions on Indy. Ever since SSRX came out last game, people have been trying to convince us to move there. We prefer Indy because that's where we want to be. That being said, once the drag competitions start, chances are they'll be held at Indy.

In GT5 yes, but tunes now for GT6 are nowhere near as specific to Indy as they were in GT5. All you have to do is lengthen tranny/lose weight. Zero suspension modifications.

In GT5, everyone tuned on SSRX so no tunes were specific to Indy except for the people who refused to use Route X. This game people have tuned on this track specifically, to see which provides better pull and traction on this track. Suspension tunes are tweaked, just as ratios and ballast are adjusted.

Something that decimates on Indy might bog or over-rev on SSRX, and vice versa. I found that out on GT5 with certain cars that ran perfect on Route X but would bounce the limiter on Indy. It's not just transmission tuning, though. You can toggle ride height to reduce or improve traction to eliminate transmission changes if you really like your setup. Point being - we're comfortable doing what we've always been doing at our track. You can hire a defense attorney to prove your case, but you won't get the community to switch over.

I could care less as long as you're looking at my tail lights. I'll drag anywhere, Fuji, Indy, ssrx, ssr5 if it exists, ssr7, or the old one on monza.

easy because indy was the birth place for the drag racing scene in GT5 nuff said....
technically ssr7 was

everyone was wowed by the layout of the track, long straights, tunnel...

then people started to look for a more accurate 1/4 mile and indy was born

tunnel tuners stayed, 1/4 tuners moved to indy

nope people had started dragging on indy's long straight around the same time as SSR7 trust me i had pre-ordered GT5 and the first thing i did was go into drag lobbies

SSRX has exact quarter-mile markings, I'd expect the drag community to be all over that.

Also, indy isn't even a full quarter, and you don't have much room to brake which makes me facepalm when kids slam into that end wall.

Agreed. No braking room, not even 1/4 mile, takes a minute to get to the actual strip...

Call me weird but I don't see one good reason to keep going at Indy, besides the fact that everyone goes there.

When SSRX first came out that's where everyone went, including myself, but it seemed to me that the lack of a 2 lane wide strip and people running 5 or more wide caused more chaos than anything. Bad enough we get 1 jumper out of just 2 racers, sometimes running 5 wide would take forever to get a single race to work. I eventually went back to Indy, more organized there.

I've seen occasions where running 3 or more wide would cause players to lag out. The possibility of lag also seems to increase when there are more cars on my screen or in my vicinity, that seems to happen to me anyway.

Also, it's always a nice sunny day at Indy, SSRX seems dreary and bleak.

Ask them to run 2 wide, if they don't follow instructions kick them.

SSRX can be played at daytime, by the way.

So the speed test quarter miles weren't accurate?

Where has this been confirmed?

Just curious...
The speed test is accurate. But on SSRX its measured in meters.
When we ran times some used metric units and their times were a little faster.
So it was made a rule that we used the imperial system for a accurate 1/4 time.
But as mentioned SSRX is closer to a 1/4.

edit treed by mich.

Yes but it seems hazy and just doesn't look much like a drag strip either, SSRX looks like an interstate.

I don't know, I just don't like it there.

At Indy its also easier to line up the cars evenly, just stop as your rear tires drop off the yellow paint, you can see the car drop if you look close.

for me since we are drag racing i prefer the closest thing to a strip and thats x.. 6.5 ft short of quarter is better then 40 feet at indy... and as for fish tailing on route x if you run 2 down the middle from 600-1000 you have no probs with fishtailing... and you have a actual finish line an start...

Thats is one reason I like Indy... E-brake, smash the wall with your rear end and head on back.

One more reason I like Indy better is because you have a specific line/lane. Many times racing on SSRX, I would get smashed into by returning racers.
