why drift?

What's funny is that even though Tsuchiya is awesome, he probably wouldn't even qualify for the D1 GP series as it stands today. The D1 drivers have gotten THAT good.

That's where you're wrong my friend! Keiichi himself drifted a NASCAR in a race and won.

I stand corrected, then. And very amused, I would have liked to see that, myself. (Not that I don't believe you, I just would have liked to watch that one in action.)

I could probably end this quick: Grip is fast, and not very fun.
Drifting is slower, but 10 times as fun... This is why people do it. And it also is the best way to show form and skill( not saying grip has less skill) .

That's strictly your opinion. Skillfully balancing a car at the limit and carrying more speed than you ever thought possible through a corner is a thrill unmatched by almost any other activity of which I can think. Just because "grip" drivers don't appear to be driving as hard doesn't mean that they aren't.

I guess I can see it that way, in a grippers eyes (No offence by Gripper..)

Grip is fast, and very fun and pretty challenging
Drift is slow and pointless.

Anyone who thinks either drifting or grip driving are pointless are not true driving enthusiasts, they are merely out to prove something. Grip drivers who hold ill thoughts against drifting are just interesting in winning the race to prove they are the fastest. Drifters who hold ill thoughts against grip are only interested in showing off their abilities to prove their worth. If you fall into either category and think my words are untrue, then you are also lying to yourself. Why else would you talk down on either style, except to make yourself look better?

True driving is both grip and drifting, they are one and the same. They both involve driver skill, prediction of the car, and reflexes. They both involve negotiating a corner in a machine that is truly designed for straight lines and merely has compromises built-in for taking corners (such as steering). (Except in the case of an AWD, 4-wheel steering system with yaw control.) Personally, I get my share of grip driving in real life. Drifting is much more dangerous, so that's why I prefer to drift in GT3.
