Why is it yellow? (RATED PG)

Hey guys. Sorry that my last thread got closed about this wierd discovery I found, but I said a few things I maybe should of kept to myself or just told my mother about....lol....so I'll keep this one PG! So on to a more important situation about the flashing red dot on the track map that represents yourself. I notice in a few different races that it starts blinking yellow, then slowly fades back to red. Does anyone have an explanation for this or what the hell it represents? It's has happened with different car and on different track.
 
Positive! It's done it on three different TVs, in different places on the tracks. It's not something that happens often. Let's just say I play about 4 or 5 hours a day, and I've seen it a total of two times this week. The weird thing is...nothing's wrong and nothing happens! When I do see it turn yellow, everytime, my tires were fine, full on gas, oil was just changed....so it's not that big of a deal, just want to know what it could mean!
 
Are you racing on the track alone or are there other cars as well.? I've played the gt4 game with 4 different setups (4-ps2's and 4-gt4 disc's) and have never seen a yellow dot.

And please use spell check. I don't want you to look like a tard any worst than your last (locked) thread. Proper and polite grammar goes a long way here too.
 
All the times I've seen it I've been in races with other vehicles, usually a series. This is so strange that no one else has even caught a glimpse of this. I SWEAR I'M NOT CRAZY OR ON ACID!....LOL....Oh, and as far as the spell check goes, you understand what I'm saying and there's no confusion, so some people need to just ease up a little and stop being so anal. I type over 120wpm, so there's going to be some mess ups here and there. If you're that obsessed about correcting somebody over a few miss spelled words or type-Os, then don't read my post or threads. Not trying to be a jerk, just honest. Or were you just trying to get me going again 01GTP?
 
it could indicate sectors where you're faster than you were on your fastest lap.. vice versa for slowest. I guess it's similar thing to the one that can be seen in B-spec mode, that displays sectors in (*gasp*) yellow or red if my memory serves.
 
Is the yellow dot during B-spec like Leonidae stated. I have never B-spec'd a race but I noticed when racing AI that when your red and the AI's blue are together it can be a bit different color. It could be a combo of color options in the game and/or TV's also. And no I'm not trying to get you going, its your signature. Anyway, you should be more aware of your presence here at gtplanet. Obviously you have forgotten what you have agreed to with gtplanet.
 
I think you might be on to something Leonidae! I'm now seeing it every race, well the last 5 races, and it seems to be showing up in the same section of the track every lap. Right now I'm in the "One make race"-Club"M" using my BMW M3 CSL. If anyone has some spare time you could give Club"M" a try with the M3 and see if you see any fade of the red dot at all.....sometimes it just turns orange. Oh, one more thing, I know it's not my TVs 'cause when you pull out of the pit in practice, the dot is as red as can be...coming around the pit on the first true lap is where it's usually yellow. You think it may have something to do with the pit or starting/finish line?
 
Nope, A-Spec. Sorry I missed that question guy. And not a combo of colors either cause it happened with no one near me. Oh, and 01GTP, I was only kidding bro. Sounds like you might a vacation and relax a little. Try not to take things so serious because you'll miss alot of opertunities that you'll kick yourself for later! Trust me, I know from trial and error!
 
In that case I'll see what's up. I'll post back here later.

EDIT: I just ran the first two races and a little at Paris and only noticed the red dots would change a little towards yellow when the back ground on the screen was in the gray areas (cement.wire fences, etc ) . Where the back ground was say green or blue it looks darker red. Besides that I tried a lot of goofy stuff too (sliding/skidding, rough up the AI, etc.). If it happens in the same area each lap then look at the background, maybe its that.

Those seem like some fun races, I think I'll run them all right now..!


And fix that signature. POEPLE
 
Film a race, and then if the dot changes, post the section of the race where the dot changed color. That way we know what you mean.
 
I would to do that but don't have a way to hook my laptop to my PS2. Wish I did 'cause I really would love to post my times and replays. I'll check the background again, but pretty sure that not what it is. It's a unmistakable yellow!...LOL And you're right 01GTP, it's a pretty fun race! Thanks for trying it out for me man, and the "POEPLE" mistake!...LOL
 
It happens every time you pass an AI, the two dots on the map are represented by one yellow one.

Sorry Vexd, it happens when I'm all by my lonesome. Certainly Speed Drifter, go to the BMW one make races and race Apricot Hill (as I said above, was using the M3 CSL). You may want to put a little beef in your car, if you don't have some already, so you can throw out the "blue dots around you" theory. The spot it always changes completely yellow is around the last left 90• turn before the straight away (pit/finish line). And if it does change for you too, you'll actually see it first fade to orange just before the hard "S" turn, which is just before section I first mentioned. Basically all of sector 4. And by the way everyone, I just tried this in B-spec and the red dot did not fade a bit. This proves the background theory to be wrong.
 
Mabey your hallucinating... You said you sit for 5-6 hours a day? Mabey your eyes are getting stressed and sending a message to your brain saying it's yellow. I have never noticed this happen. Mabey it's because I focus more on what's ahead of me then I do the little dot on the map.
 
I tried racing it at least ten times with different settings as well as couple other races, but nothing came up.. this was with UK version though, I'll try US one next

Edit: didn't change anything, I just can't reproduce it :(
I was using M3 CSL with road tires and NA2 tune, along with some little updates.
 
LOL....Well I was starting to think I was crazy or maybe hallucinating SolidSnake!...That was until my Tekken buds came over and I just had to check to see if they saw it too, AND THEY DID! I mean, this had only started happening (or I started noticing) about a month ago. Does anyone think it might like a perk (woulld be a stupid perk with no use/meaning) for having a high win percentage? Or maybe completing a certain amount of the game? So I guess this is it! I may never know why the hell this is happening, or know if anyone else will ever see it too! Well, if you guys and gals could keep your eyes and ears open for even a sign of this "yellow dot" or what it might mean, please let me know. Until then, I think I'm done being mental over this. It's not hurting or helping anything that I know of, and I'm still stomping the AI, even if it is trying to drive me crazy!

SolidSnake, you never look to see what turns might lie ahead or where you and your opponents might be. I have all the tracks memorized as well as the next guy, but it's still a good habit, from when I first started GT, to look at what lies ahead of and trails behind you. Which reminds me, I was having to look at the map alot during the Special Condition races. That's where I first started noticing the yellow......OPE, SORRY, I'M DROPPING IT!
 
I'd really like to know what is it and how i could see it too.. try to make a list what you've done in your game save.
Like, completion percentage, number of cars, car mileage, is there record times on the track where the yellow spot appears, etc.. all kind of random info that may seem to be even unrelated :)
Could you try if it happens in replays as well? pressing the square button couple times should bring up the map I think
 
This reminds me of the movie "bug", you got everbody going crazy trying to find a yellow dot, I was 13 hours into the Sarthe 1 race but then I quit to try and find the yellow dot, no luck so far after 7 laps.
 
Nicksrap, try taking a picture or video to prove that this actually happens to you and your game, so we're not looking for some random problem you decided to BS up because you have too much time in your hands.
 
AP1, that's a awesome idea! In fact, a have a little video record ony cam. if I can find it. I'm getting on this as I type. And BrianWillis, I'm sorry man! But I swear on anything that I'm not making this up! I'll be in touch soon guy. Should I just post a reply on here or what?
