Why is Polyphony Digital so quiet

Why is Polyphony Digital so quiet compared to Codemasters (F1 2017) and Slightly Mad Studios (Project Cars)?
The latter both have official staff and community representatives active on their official forums... while PD has MastrGT but it's unclear exactly what his role is.
Codemasters and SMD are also much more active on Twitter about promoting their product.

They primarily speak Japanese so it doesn't surprise me that they're not vocal in the US gaming community. I don't know how vocal they are with Japanese gamers or whether or not that sort of developer transparency is even a common thing with modern Japanese companies.

It's not like anyone is available that could communicate in both Japanese and English along with other languages. Kaz also speaks English as well.

You are informed about everything regarding the game in news section (in game), as well as it is on their website translated in dozen languages. So what are you talking about? If you are missing some PR **** on their twitter everyday, well, they dont care.

Cool. Can you tell us what the plans are for DLC? Tracks? Cars? Other? Will the daily races go back to weekly? Will they always be fixed or allow tuning? Is the driver rating system being tweaked or is it finished?

Until last week, the different locales (gb/us/au/jp) all had different content... some news was there for some regions but not others.
The two other game makers are honest enough to acknowledge issues with their product and let users know what is getting fixed.
And then there is the total lack of official rules and regulations for the FIA Championships. Maybe that's more on the FIA that PDI, but still... WTF?

To be completely fair most other developers don't provide that level of openness either.
Both of their main competitors, if you want to call them that, on this platform, have forums where various members of their teams are in direct contact with players. GTP itself has had 2 high-ranking members of one of the development teams here for months answering direct questions from the players. One of them has conducted live streams of coding sessions. One may not like the games or the people developing the games, but at least they are available and interacting with the player base.

So, when is the new patch coming for Project Cars 2, what is included in it, is there going to be any dlc, if so when, are they going to fix yellow flags, when are settings going to be saving correctly? My point is presence does not equal information being disseminated.

Sony are a huge multinational company with offices in lots of different territories. They communicate in lots of different languages on a daily basis. As a studio you would think PD is one of Sony's most important. It would seem sensible to me that Sony ensure decent communication is made to all territories.

I would shut up as well if my game would get thousands of hates.
That comes with the territory these days unfortunately. You can't let that stop you from communicating with your fan base.

I have a question:

  • Does this game have an official support email and/or forum to visit?

As big as GTPlanet is, it’s still an unofficial communication channel. For Forza you have an @microsoft.com email address you can contact, as well as the official forums.

If I had a technical issue with the game, would the official PlayStation forums be my best bet? I know it was used by Polyphony during the Closed Beta but I’m not sure if things are different post-launch.

You're talking about assigning a translation PR person to Polyphony. That's a whole other layer of mediation that you're proposing. Point being, communication isn't as easy at the multiplayer lead jumping on Twitter and saying "hi". Smaller American companies can do that. I doubt Poly can, or is willing to eve go through the trouble.

We know about most DLC cars in PC2 and many in FM7 so I don’t mind surprises.

I expect some announcement after the Test Season as right now is not a time to release content. We’re all busy practicing and racing.

This is the case with many japanese developers. Just take a look at their live casts, where they rarely speak english or makes any kind of sense of the presentation. And it can be the very first presentation of the game at that.

I would be surprised to see any major announcements to be made prior to the holiday gift buying season as many GTS games will probably be sold as holiday gifts and with PS4 bundles.

Major announcements will probably not be until after the holiday season as PD attempts to generate new interest after initial sale numbers have stalled.

This is as good of a guess as any!

Answers?

Cough No Man's Sky Cough

HAHA, there was a prime example of how not to handle a half finished game.:banghead:

Maybe they are too busy reading all the forums and trying to get ideas on how to improve the game, lord knows they are plenty of threads about everything that is "wrong" with the game. Its a 100 person full time job to read all these forums and there suggestions.

I may have compared Dr. Kaz with Sean Murray on more than one occasion and completely within reason I'd wager, Every game since GT4 has been lacking features/content etc add that to the fact that Dr. Kaz tends to over promise and under-deliver much like the aforementioned Sean Murray, It's no wonder they tend to stay quiet at PD HQ.

Yes no mans sky was really poor at release date, but they had to do it as they had already delayed release once and to a chorus of hate. People are never satisfied unless everything is perfect to how they want it and within a time they want it and at a price they want it.
NMS has developed leaps and bounds and is now really really fun to play. GTS is more polished at release date, but still has its flaws. Its only been 3 weeks people just need to hold their horses and stop expecting the world now.

Soon.
150+ improvements/bug fixes
Yes.
Soon.
No.
Now. Saving settings even over default works fine for me.

Except, this isn't a new developer, and this isn't the first game they've made.

So yes... I kind of expect the world.

Maybe Sony is readying a house cleaning, one can only hope.
I’m predicting Sony to start pruning entire limbs. They are NOT selling products like they were. Everything they make is cheap, and has horrid online services. I had a blue ray player from them that couldn’t stream because it tried to stream from Netflix, through the Sony server, and then to me. Streaming was impossible. I took the blue ray player into my front yard and smashed it with a baseball bat, office space style. This is only a slight sliver of the crap they do, this is also a large sliver of what I do.
