PHENOMENAL WORK

I have been trying to privately do this in a very un-organized fashion with all the tunes I've collected from the forums.

Can't thank you enough, i'll try and contribute with the work i've done on my cars to help out

Im curious as to why Lion's Den and some RKM tunes are specially noted on the list of cars? Also no one asked for my permission to use my tunes on another website other than the GTP thread I posted them in. I am happy for the publicity, but I don't like my tunes throw together with other tunes or the fact that my name was removed off of my posts.

I hate to be the first to respond this way, but you admitted it yourself that you haven't asked anyone if you could use their work on your website. I put a lot of effort into my tunes and the presentation of those tunes and to have my tunes cut up and hastily pasted on another website is kind of an insult to all of the effort I put into my work.

Hi project41,

First, my apologies for the lack of permissions and the missing info/formatting. I will run through the database and remove any related content.

As of why LDM and RKM had the cars listed on the list page was because initially I had entered each tune as a page instead of car models. After some feedbacks, users has suggested the wiki be organized by model for better usabilities. The wiki software defaults in keeping old version of the page title and redirect them to the new page, thats why their names are still there. I am still investigating on how to remove those redirect links/titles, if anyone has any experience with mediawiki programming please give me a shout.

Again I apologize for the errors, the goal of this wiki is to improve the usage of the experience for both racers and tuners.

If there's any other concerns or feedbacks, please don't hesitate.

Cheers,
Calvin

Thank you, I wouldn't be against posting my tunes on your wiki if the link was linked to the individual GTP posts in my thread for each car. 👍'

Does that make sense?

Yup for sure, I've edited your sections and they should now link back to your individual posts.

As tuners, if you post your tunes online it is then public knowledge. They don't have to give you credit. People steal tunes. We all know it. And there is only one way to do anything about it.

If they were private tunes, well then you shouldn't of shared them.

But I also believe in giving credits where it's due. I might not have to do anything for anyone, but I want contribute to the community in my own way. If each of us look out for the better of the community, tuners will be more encouraged to share more tunes and players will have more fun as a result of it.

The purpose of a wiki is to have a centralized page for information. If you have to link back to the original post, that defeats the purpose of a wiki. You can give credit simply by giving their names on the top of the tune that has a link to their garage, but still paste all the settings in the wiki page. If they insist on having only a link to their original post, I would rather they be excluded. It's a wiki, not a database for tune links.

This is a valid point, and that's why this is an experiment to see if we can find a balance that helps gamers and supports the tuners. True that if the wiki only holds external links then the experiment has failed, but that's not the complete picture at the moment. We do have tuners that gave consents to posting their settings on the wiki and I hope more will follow this path. The project is still evolving and hopefully we can create something that's truly useful to all.

Have you read my PM, Superesc? :)

Yup! And I will be adding reference links in each tune back to the original thread to help redirect the comments and feedback here. I think driving feedbacks and comments back to the original thread is a great idea as for sure the wiki is not the best platform for discussions which I think tuners will benefit from! That will be part of the updates I will be adding to this week!

Everyone keep up the good work. It is awesome to have all these tunes in a centralized location. I find the forum search doesn't always yield the best results.

Well tbh i dont see a problem if the tune is on the wiki as well as a link to the tuner here at gtp.
Just out of intrest, i always click on a link to see the original poster. If theres another good tune there then i may end up using that than searching again if you get what i mean.

Hey guys, I just posted a new tune at the Wiki for the McLaren F1 '94 Non-Stealth model. Also posted a thread here at GTP for it. Hope it works for you.

Cheers

As you get more tunes, do you think it would be a good idea to put them into some sort of categories? Such as alphabetically or by make? I'd prefer the latter, but I'm just throwing out ideas.

Right now the main list seems a little cluttered, but that may just be because I'm looking at it on my phone.

If you do use this idea you should put in those collapsable categories with the little + to the left of the category name (:

Thanks for including my F330 P4 tuning :)

I've updated the setting today with what I believe to be the final version, I've also made an account on your Wiki. Feel free to edit the tune or, if you prefer, I can edit the page too.

Thanks again 👍

They're organized by car, I don't see the problem.

Key phrases in my previous post:
-"As you get more tunes" i.e., making the list bigger
-"it seems a little cluttered"
-"I'm looking at it on my phone" this means it looks smaller to me and may just be that.
-"Just throwing out some ideas"

It's just an idea, buddy.
