Will GT5 have better looking tracks than GT5:P?

Yes, on the supposed confirmed track list, London has SHORT and LONG version, I think we have the short version. That would be awesome to have additional 1-2 minute racing!

yeah i think around turn 4 or 5, the Tragfalgar Sq. turn, it looks like u can keep bombing down that straight but its blocked off by barriers. also the Nordwand has a "rally entrance" mmmmmm id like to see the Eiger with road\dirt\snow all in one Lap!

"Will GT5 have better looking tracks than GT5:P?"

Like most people have said, I think there will be improvements to the tracks we're currently seeing on GT5:P, but only slight.
I'm liking this talk of 'dirty' tracks (haha, not for that reason). That's always been a gripe of mine with GT: the tracks being so perfect that they don't look real. 'Wow, that grass is exactly the same colour, height and density all the way around the 'Ring! What amazing groundskeepers they have.' :P

I'm excited about the possibility of real-time damage to tracks, in terms of skid marks staying there; grass getting flattened or chopped down to just sand where people often cut corners; or even the possibility that if someone was to crash into a tyre wall hard and hit a light beside the track, it might make the light go out or even fall over.

This is not stuff for the PS3; at least not for the standards of PD and KY. Look at Motorstorm 1, a PS3 launch game. It is still a great looking game and had real-time damage and tyre marks left on the and in the surface. Sure, GT could do that, but to be at the standard that they want it I think we'd be waiting for GT7 on PS4 or even GT8 on PS4... My thoughts.

First, Froza 3 only has eight car races.

Second, I doubt the poly count is that high.

Third, Prologue cars are so good that people are fooled into thinking they're watching real racing film instead of replays, even with tracks having "basic" backgrounds. I'll definitely have to see an example of how Prologue cars are showing any lack of detail.

Yea, for sure... but the fact is, that FM3 cars have more polys than GT5:P cars.
I don't care about 350k polys etc (as you pointed, there are only 8 cars on track) but they should work on some parts of cars. Here's an example I made:

You won't find edges like that in FM3.

oh sorry, I was under the belief that FM3 hasn't been released yet.

I have no idea how you came to that conclusion from a few selected screenshots and videos given by the makers of FM3 who will make absolute certainty that none of these anomolies occur in their trailer screenshots or videos.
Wait until both FULL games are released before you start putting such comparisons otherwise you have 0 credibility.

I'm sorry...but do those tiny spots bother and hinder your gaming experience? Come on, get a grip will ya, this has gone far enough!

I don't care about the amount of polygons used, to me GT5P models look miles ahead of Forza 3 models, simple as that! Go check the Forza 3 trailer and honestly tell me that the R8 featured in there or the M3 for that matter look better than their GT5P counterparts!

I don't think so, so lets stop moaning about these minute details and hope the freakin' game will have variable wheather and day/night transitions! At least that is something worth moaning about!:sly:

Concerning the tracks, well, suzuka and HSR do look a little barren and sterrile, but otherwise great! I think we'll see some improvements in the final product. Pd will have surely optimized the code and added details and such. I think we will all be pleasantly surprised!

Of course GT5 won't have better looking tracks. In fact, they'll be so hidious nobody ever is going to play the game. An entire track will consist out of maximum 2 colours, very bad textures and no side animation at all, just to boost the FPS to 150.

C'mon people: why ask questions nobody here can answer??

always thought that the tracks in the GT series were the best looking tracks. But as of lately, more race games, which are going to be released this year, have better looking tracks/surroundings.

The tracks in GT series look very good and realistic but like many others have said on this forum over the last few years, the tracks (asphalt) looks "clean". They are missing real live details, like dirt, tire marks from previous races etc... .

Even the buildings from a city track don't look as detailed as in other games i.e. NFS SHIFT!

I hope the tracks/surroundings in GT5 will looks more "alive", detailed in GT5.

All the NFS SHIFT screenshots. Tracks/buildings/surroundings in GT5 should look like the ones in SHIFT.

:)

I own both R2 and KZ2, yes theres is some fantastic texture work in both games. However they are re-used a lot all over the levels which just reiterates my point about the limited amount of available space.
Well now, come on. Even Crysis reuses textures. ;) Every game does that because it's a chore to constantly load in data when you're streaming in scenery, music, as well as calculating game events. I think the perfect example is the Nurburgring in GT4. It's magnificent, even compared to renditions on PCs. It reuses textures. Does anyone really notice, or care?

Err... yeah:

Properties: 3840px × 2160px

So, you take a screengrab and blow it up double HD resolution, and you don't like what you nitpick over?

I'm sorry, this is lame. I'm perfectly happy with those graphics. They look pretty realistic to me. If you see a jaggie in GT5 and it makes you saad, maybe you should only play PC racers. You know, games that look like PS2 games in HD. Gee whiz, some people...

If the difference between GT4:P and GT4 is anything to go by, then GT5's tracks will have some lower textures around the track compared to GT5:P.

I think this was more because of disc size limitations and what the PS2 could stream of the disc. We wont see something like that in GT5.
