Will there be a collision physics overhaul in GT5? Answer: Yes.

GRID graphis are downward ugly (especially the hideous postprocessing, similar to the yellow sort of unreal tint in Forza). The damage also seems nice, but in reality isn't as polished, as you would like to think (altough I agree, it really looks nice and no one has come closer tho reality than them yet). Besides it would be a waste too just see another clone of GRID with more cars and tracks.

[temporary hi-jack] Apparently I'm not the only one that thinks the C6.R looks like, well, such a description can't be disclosed here (goshdarn AUP :dopey:), but it's hideous. [/temporary hi-jack]

With the recent news of the damage modeling/collision physics (I assume for the latter) not being completed hopefully it'll become much more intense. All of this strikes me as if it's not coming out this year or Q1 of next either.

Wait until the sales numbers prove you wrong. 👎

Yes because like the PS3 did for the first year or two, many sales would be based on reputation. Forza by comparison is a lot newer franchise as is the Xbox. Theres plenty of examples of stuff that sells by the bucket load that are complete crud in all other respects. Not that GT5 will be complete crud, at least I certainly hope not but to me it seems like another disapointing sequel in the making that moves the series on like an asthmatic ant with heavy shopping to quote Black Adder.

Congratulations you found some stupid videos on the internet! Those collisions in no way compare to the collisions I've had in Forza 2 over the past 2 years. Like all games its not perfect, but at least its had damage and decent collisions since 2005.

For instance heres one of many stupid GT5 Prologue crash videos:

At least Forzas stupid crashes have decent damage ;)

This is what he was talking about.

The gamescon demo shows improvement but still no where near as real as FM2 (that flying thing was caused by the anti-roll system where the rotation was stopped and converted to verticle momentum)

Exactly thats a much fairer comparison.

I will eventually own both Forza 3 and GT 5 (if it ever comes out) but I can see myself playing Forza 3 a lot, lot more. I never even finished GT4 because I found it that boring. Its amazing how PD can take so long and yet still fail to do anything innovative. Or have cars make skid marks ;)

I noticed alot of thing's about collisions in the GT5 demo video.

When the subaru plowed the R8 into the tirewall the R8 did not fly into it straight on, like it would have in GT5P

When the focus slamed into the Subaru the back kicked out and the car got sideway's like it would have irl.

In this video at 2:40 the subaru cliped the back end of the EVO and the evo actually spun out instead of staying stuck to the road.

You can actually Fish tail AI cars now.

If you hit the rear quarter panel they will spin out.

Thank god they fixed the colision physics...

i got tired of clipping the rear panel of cars and they dont even freaking move like there stuck to the road....

hmmmmm bugatti... and bunch small japanese k cars....

this is gonna be fun.

Anybody else notice how we still only see damage on a WRC car? I have a feeling that damage will only apply to rally cars and maybe race cars.

Yes, damage will likely be restricted to race cars, but we simply don't know yet. With the GT5 news released so far, we have more questions than ever. But being a typical GT fanboy, I can hardly wait to get my hands and my DF GT wheel on it. I've practically forgotten every other game I'm looking forward to, simply because I'm squishy with anticipation.
