I know there is no info if there even will be a shift3 but Mr Bell said that they will not work with EA anymore.

Shift 2 has very many strong points and if Mr Bell and his team had more time and not so many restrictions I believe shift 2 would be a super game.

So will you buy shift 3 if SMS is not making it?

I think SMS got shift a bit away from the NFS type game. Now with them gone I think Shift will turn back to it's full arcade history.

I personally would like to see SMS completely make their own sports car title similar to Shift. I don't know all the behind the scenes workings of making a game, so maybe thats not feasible for SMS. Just seems as though SMS made a great game in Shift 2, but was to some extent "botched up" by EA.

Still love Shift 2 though. If you can get past the bit of lag and the freezing its a great racing title. I'll probably be playing Shift 2 for awhile in between the other racing titles I own.

If SMS does make another title I doubt it will make it to consoles as they seem to favor the PC crowd, I could be wrong tho. I would love to see what SMS would do without the heavy pressures from EA.

SMS is working on another racing sim based on the S2U engine and they state it will be released for the PC and consoles. Time will tell...

EDIT: And yes, I would purchase in a heartbeat if it is anything like S2U. I would prefer on the PS3 but would consider upgrading my PC if not released for the consoles.

My interest in further involvement with the Shift series, regardless of who develops it is entirely contingent on whether they pull their heads out of their asses and get the handling *perfect*. No more ridiculous twitchiness, no more defaults bad enough to require hours of fine tweaking to be near usable, and no more wheel lag.

After that it'll come down to how much EA piss me off between now and then with their other business practices. And if for some reason they go arcade, my interest drops to nil. If I wanted that sort of game I'd be looking for the next Midnight Club.

If Shift 3 is developed by Black Box I won't buy it!
You may call me biased, but judging from their past games and all the info on "The Run" these guys can't create a racing game that is remotely realistic, supports wheels, has a cockpit view, etc.

If Shift 3 is developed by another studio but follows the same basic formula of Shift 2 then I would definitely consider it. A demo (like the original Shift demo) would help convince me too.

EA in the past (before Black Box came and destroyed NFS) had created some excellent NFS titles. And the original NFS along with the excellent Porsche Unleashed (on PC both) where very realistic for their time with groundbreaking sound, graphics and extremely fun!

Besides, SMS is not the only studio able to develop realistic racing that in the past worked for EA. Image Space Incorporated, the developer of rFactor, had created PC F1 games for EA which many consider excellent simulations (I always preferred Geoff Crammond's GP series) and were the technological base on which rFactor, GTR and other Simbin titles were made.

So I am hoping that EA won't destroy the Shift franchise and let a studio passionate about realistic racing games develop a sequel. But I admit it's a slim chance for this to happen...

They built it in the first place really :)

It was the unrealistic production schedule that really started to sour things at BB, I think. We'll see how The Run does - I don't think it looks like much, but they have at least had a fair amount of time and haven't had to develop the whole game from the ground up this time. I expect it to be a very glossy, high production value game at least.

What is " The Run " ?

Hell NO. What happened with the S2U's post releasing issues is the headstone of EA in the sim racing market, they better stick to their arcade (crappy) stuff like NFS the run which seems to already have major frame rates issues.. as usual.

In one word: Awwhellnaww! EA can shove a cactus up their rear, after S2U I will never buy any EA game ever again.

I said that after Shift 1, look where I am now( :guilty: ), never say never.:sly:

Dunno, I basically bought shift because of SMS, so i doubt I'll be interested in Shift 3...

Also, it'd depend on when it's released. First and foremost, I bought S2U because I wasn't very content with GT5 and the fact that FM3 was already getting pretty old and FM4 was still quite some time away from its release...

So, overall, probably not.

Whoah there. Black Box didn't destroy NFS, in fact it'd be more accurate to say it's the other way around. EA's absolutely idiotic insistence on yearly releases from a single studio sent quality straight to hell. The unrushed Black Box games were at the high point of what NFS was. Hot Pursuit 2 in particular was probably the best game the series ever had (I don't consider Shift an NFS game in anything other than name)

If its good. Sure.

I could care less who makes it, or who publishes it. If its a decent game then yeah..Ill buy.

I think to EA making a realistic sim racer has not payed off as the shift series have shown so I don't think that they will continue, however what they fail to realize is that their interference in trying to cater to both the sim and arcade people is what pissed both grouped off and the game never took off. Plus the bugs and lack of support.

This was my last NFS game! The NFS games are not what they used to be.

Where is everyone getting the numbers about how Shift2 was not a success? Seems people are very "in the know" about sales figures. Can someone link this data please?

I agree if you are looking for an NFS style game but I never had much interest in the NFS series - I was more of a computer racing sim guy. S2U was the first game on the consoles that caught my racing experience interest. The bugs of coarse hurt the title but I like the direction the Shift series was going. If the conole titles don't move in the "racing sim" direction I may go back to the computer.

Its a long long time since i had a P.C. that was capable of playing games on , i have a laptop now which wouldn't run pac-man  what spec PC would i need to run a game like shift 2 ? Just wondering in case i abandon the consoles myself :scared:

I said that after Shift 1, I followed Shift 2 development closely (being extremely interested by the car/track list), waited the early feedback, disappointed by the freeze issue, waited for a patch, disappointed by the lack of major fixing, waited for another one, pissed off by EA for not letting SMS do their job, racognized I've made a smart choice, not buying this game :) So the only chance I'll remotely buy anything from GAYEA in the future will be if they'll effectively offer a working and supported product, but knowing their a*****s attitude it won't never happen so... just screw them, plain simple.

If you want to run S2U at similar quality as the PS3 and same resolution, you don't need to spend a lot. Any i3 processor or higher will do (as no game is CPU bound unless you use a dual GPU setup), and a midrange GFX card, coupled with 4GB of memory (cheap these days). And you'll run it at 45-60FPS too. 👍
