Gamepad or wheel?

Plebian controller.

As for the elitist viewpoint that controller proles not allowed opinions on driving physics:
Drake And Josh No GIF

Pad mostly, but some G29 testing on PS5 and a T150 attached to my PS4.

I'm going to use controller. I had a wheel for GT1 and most of the GT games though.

The negative attitude towards controller users is ignorant.

I can race all day with controller and not cause an accident, driving just as close to other cars as anyone else online.

You know, all the famous painters from history were pretty decent with a pencil too.

I wonder how many people have a perfectly good wheel that they would happily use for GT7, but can't because it isn't console compatible?

Pretty much all wheels that worked on last gen will work on current gen. Only problem would be if you have an xbox wheel instead of a PS wheel for GT7. But there's a fix for that as well with some sort of USB hub, I'm sure someone else can tell you more about those.

Racing games with pad? No way. Is it expensive? I will save money. No space? I will find space. Playing with a steering wheel and pedals is too good. Look at the GT SPORT FIA and Manufactures world championship, of course they use wheel.

Very few, if any.
I mean, I know there's at least one so "if any" was a bit unnecessary. My Fanatec CSR works perfectly fine on PS3, X360 and PC but isn't an option for GT7 without me buying an additional hardware layer to enable it.

It didn't seem unreasonable to me that there might be other people in the same boat with PS3/X360 or PC compatible wheels that they wouldn't be able to use for GT7. Did everyone who was using wheels for GT5 and 6 upgrade in the last few years?

You can count me as being in that boat brother.

I've got an original Logitech Driving Force & a G25 I've borrowed from my buddy. Neither is compatible but of course I've been using them with my PS3 & GT6. Didn't buy a PS4.

DriveHub should work but you have to buy a "dongle" in the form of a mini controller and plug that into the DH unit so that when the PS5 conducts its 10-minute-interval compatibility check it's fooled into thinking that whichever wheel's plugged into DH is kosher.

So, if I want to proceed with either of my wheels I'd have to buy a DH as well as the mini controller with no guarantee the setup will work in a few months or whatever if Sony cottons onto the workaround.

With this in mind I'm seriously considering a DD Pro setup but would prefer a GT3 / F1-style wheel so I'd at the very least have to wait 'til the drive unit's available separately. Then there's the matter of acquiring a PS5, which thus far has been a fruitless pursuit...

I would love to use a wheel for it preferably. I currently have a T150 but I'm not too sure if it will be compatible with the ps5 version of gt7 as it was made for the ps4 system. I might have to upgrade the wheel
It is 👍

That's is awesome news! Thank you!!

I think I have space to use a wheel but I don't have space to store a wheel if that makes any sense. But I agree the dualsense ain't too bad for racing
I totally get it, the storage of a racing wheel is also something to consider. That is why I have no space either. Dualsense it is (for the foreseeable future)

Gamepad. I already have to buy a PS5 and a new TV for this...that's enough money. Plus there isn't much room in my tiny basement TV area for more stuff.

Oh for sure mate, the total cost of that sounds like twice as much as foldable cockpit and baseline wheel setup but im sure you will enjoy your driving more from the comforts of your couch with your thumbs, after all, thats how real driving is done. Thats what driving is about. Driving and the dynamics of it is meant to be experienced with a gamepad. Everyone knows this. To buy a wheel, and make space for it, you basically have to make a late abortion on your twin brother, the sacrifice is real. Myself i had to trade 50 camels for my wheel. But still, the physics of driving, i enjoy that on my gamepad. Just keep my wheel in the center of our livingroom as a monument. The gamepad is where its at.
You don’t think you’re being ridiculous?

Although I've got a Fanatec CLS Elite wheel with a load-cell brake pedal, I might actually play with the PS5 controller if it's implementation is good mainly for the comfort of being able to play while sitting on my sofa. It's more relaxing and convenient to play with a controller, rather than having to move around a heavy driving seat infront of the TV for every short gaming session

I remember Forza (think it was 5) being really good on Xbox One with the controller due to its trigger feedback. The PS5 controller could improve the driving experience with its haptic feedback quite a lot.

Are you actually mocking a guy for having awareness of his own finances and living space? Wtf.

A very important point. Def one to consider for anyone considering a wheel purchase: Seriously think about how it'll work space-wise/ergonomically. Mounting pedals and the wheel base alone was a constant frustration...for example, I found a way to mount my pedals but the seating position was all screwed up as a result. , eventually I just decided to get a rig. I'm glad, but christ above when it's all said and done it costs a pretty penny.

Can't wait to see how Dualsense is integrated into GT7. I think there's a real opportunity here for PD, because it has to be said that the VAST majority of developers have either underutilised or ignored the haptic feedback etc. A lot of people would take a dip in GT7 alone for good Dualsense implementation.

Does the throttle trigger go light - lose resistance - when there's under- or oversteer? Does it happen gradually? Does it rattle when it's severe? Do you feel the weight of the car in the trigger? In that case, it might be a somewhat good substitute if you don't use a FFB wheel for whatever reason.

I can't imagine going back to racing without proper FFB.

In march I'll have a PS5, GT DD Pro, GT7 (PS5) so I'll try it out!
