Willow Spring Raceway in 2014 Corvette Trailler

Oh, a full-on desert look will be a slight change of scenery compared to what we have access to now, absolutely. Just that barren, empty desert is the only option with Willow :P . As a race track, though, I'm all for more real life tracks, just prefer Sonoma or Road Atlanta if we're looking at US tracks. Still keeping my fingers crossed for Cadwell Park :D

I agree it might not be the most exciting backdrop, especially compared to Sonoma, but there's a certain charm about the emptiness that I really quite like.

It's a pretty unique backdrop and it's got some great potential for some beautiful scenery, especially if it has some kind of time progression for sunset/sunrise.

But the racetrack as it is has a great rhythm and flow to it, so there's nothing to complain about in my eyes :)

As for Cadwell. ALL MY YES!

Seems like a dull track. I really wonder what tracks PD has bothered to model for GT6, and in what quality.

On tracks like this with minimum scenery I would expect smart system usage and dedication of graphical power to totally crisp asphalt texture, perfectly modelled curbs, sand and stones on the road and perfect lightning with both weather and daytime change.

Yes as I said in the other threads it's a decent enough track but there is nothing to look at, it's pretty dull.

Dull race track? I'm sorry but it seems to have straights and bends, and unfortunately don't go to a track to sight-see..

I didn't know tracks had to be visually appealing to be enjoyable. I'm not trying to start a debate, I've just really never thought of that before.

Let's just race in supermarket car parks then, no need for any scenery on any tracks. Look I never said it was the most important factor, just that it helps to enjoy it and also for learning tracks as well as braking points. I'm sure i'm not the only one that uses trees, buildings etc as references.

As someone playing the pre-alpha of Project CARS I know I enjoy tracks omce they're more finished rather than just ribbons of tarmac.

Don't know why but I already love the track. Maybe because I love deserts, maybe tired of tracks that has so much scenery in it. Love that "drive alone on other planet" feeling. I Hate cities - tired. :)

Visual referencing is a good point. With the layout I guess the rumble strips as they're called (?) could an indicator.

A supermarket car park sounds like fun... like autocross or something...

Visual references on the track itself can also be used for braking markers. I use them quite often. (cracks, etc)

Well, a lot of the power will be eaten by the drawing distance. Look at route X and you can see the quality you will get.

I also smell invisible walls, lots of invisible walls.

The textures don't exactly look amazing in the screenshots.

still looks like parts of Laguna to me... Both Laguna and Willow have similar backgrounds...

Even if it is Willow, weren't we supposed to get Pike's Peak and various other tracks? I don't think anyone should be holding their breath for any new tracks. Not trying to be pessimistic, just stating my observations on what I have seen from PD.

We'll just have to wait for GT6... I guess...

I hope it is Willow Springs as this could mean more tracks are coming to GT5 to get us ready for GT6. Hopefully there won't be any invisible walls on this track.

I saw this track for the first time in pCARS (since after NFS Shift I didn´t want to buy Shift 2 at all) and it was one of the very first made back in October 2011.

Not sure if say if it is fun to drive but sure it is fast, and you have a couple of technical corners which seems or looks "easy" at first but if you make a mistake you are out in a second. (sounds like every other track after all...)
Short and fast, but real world track which to me is important in a simulator.

A picture from Google Earth.

The other configuration (Streets of Willow) looks more interesting than the main track. I believe this where road cars are tested:

Entire track has elevation changes. Streets of Willow runs clockwise and counter clockwise. The Streets is pretty nice IRL. Turn 1 you are not sure if you can maintain speed or should lift before the hard right hander comes up. Then the braking as you head down in elevation is pretty sweet....banking portion before a semi straight away eats tires really good. Then you have the blind left hander where folks brake prior to entry...this is where most of the ET is Had or Lost. The 180* turn to finish the lap is most annoying.

Yes they did do some nice tests. One was a '11 Mustang GT vs the BMW M3. M3 just had it by a tenth I believe. Driven by Randy Pobst...

EDIT! Found it :D Thanks R1600Turbo & SlipZtrEm

Awww. Somebody mad? lol.

EDIT: Best thing to do is. Ignore his post YAAAAY! Seriously ignore him. O_O

NOt even mad, just stating my opinion which some people can't note the fact of other people opinions.
Also if you were going to ignore my comment from the get go you should've never replied to my comment

It'd be nice if Willow Springs came along with some new American muscle cars (assuming it ever comes), though knowing PD, I'd say unlikely. I see this track a lot on YouTube via MotorTrend, InsideLine, etc, so it'd be pretty sweet to have this track.

On a side note, I hope there aren't any invisible barriers.

 there really is nothing out there! Air Force Base, Old Lockheed factory...which are not near by. Only lots of avenues with long straights that have no houses around it. Rather Free Rome some other track.

Willow does have a drag strip in the Streets of Willow...only 1000feet which in my book isnt a complete strip = 1320'.

*EDIT: Not Boeing but Lockheed.

This is granturismo.Im 99% sure there will be invisible barriers.
Would be epic if there wasnt any tho.To make up for the "bareness" it would be nice if it had time change. Its a desert so I doubt theres much rain there I guess.

I like that video. The last new Mustang review I've seen was a few year old Top Gear review, and I havn't been keeping up on them much since aside from knowing about the Laguna Seca lap times and what-not. It's nice to see how far along the actual regular street model Mustang GT has come in the last couple years.

On topic, 1st, I think people are getting their hopes up with this track coming to GT5. Though I understand why people are, and I also hope we get this track because at least until Project Cars hits retail, I don't see myself playing any upcoming "sim" racers. So more GT5 content is great.

But the video just doesn't look like GT5 graphics engine to me unlike previous promo videos which featured tracks we eventually got after noticing them in the videos. Those videos looked like GT5.....this video looks updated over those. I think in this promotional video, we're seeing a peek at GT6. But we got the car itself in GT5 because of the deal PD has with Chevrolet's promotion of the new Corvette to the car fans of Gran Turismo.

So that's my take on this. That the small peek at Willow Springs we're seeing in this video....and the car model as well I would ASSume.....is pretty much our first look at the visuals of GT6....which I believe will be a PS3 game releasing this Fall.

2nd. People are saying they think the visuals of the track are boring. I disagree. It's got a very desolate feeling, but a distinct one. Watching the videos of the track, it looks like you're racing out at AREA 51 or something. Very cool.

Eh? the video was very GT5 and you're in for disappointment if you think GT6 will be a PS3 game out in the fall.
