Windshield wipers and bad weather.

Weather seems to be a big factor in GT5, as it was confirmed merely days ago in the February edition of OPM magazine..... so I ask, when inside the car, will the wipers automatically be turned on, or do you believe we'll be assigned when to turn them both on and off? It'd be funny, though, to have them still running as the rain clears (under manual control) or on a totally sunny day:sly:

I can't wait for rain and snow in HD! Should be p-h-e-n-o-m-e-n-a-l-👍

I'd be happy with auto wipers - I just want the ability to switch on high and low beam on the headlights for when we are racing the Nurburgring 24 hour during the dusk/night.

auto sensing wipers in luxury or premium car's and regular turn the knob in standard to some sport's car's.

The Ferrari F-40 has roll up windows because powered-windows takes away form the car's performance. Too much weight. I assume other Ferrari models do that while the more luxurious models do not. Surely, though, you could ask them for powered-windows, but if you say nothing, get your arm muscles ready!

Well if we have wipers, it's going to have to have a wiper blade replacement service to be realistic....

maybe getting a bit to indepth

Wipers are a nice addition, however I would much rather have the ability to turn on/off your high-beams if not your headlamps. I would love to flash the high-beams to tell the driver infront of me to get out of the way, it would be fun online too :D

For me, auto wipers will be fine. I concern more on the ability to turn on/off your headlights during a race. :D

Can't imagine turning off the headlamp at night during a heated race to scare the 🤬 out of your opponent 👍.

Really things to dream of..
But it is better to be realistic I guess,
no matter how hard I want it too...
Bet lights will be off or on... (not adjustable)
and wipers? doubt we'll have them...

have wet weather even been confirmed for GT 5? And what kind of wet weather. Static for specific tracks or dynamic weather based on weather station.

As for wipers that and what it´s called the fluid to clear the windows from dirt. It´s a bit annoying with just the wipers to clean off the dirt in Race 07 take to much time ;)

That's exactly what I'm thinking of. :sly:

Just like what Fujiwara Takumi did in Initial D? :dopey:

What happens with the convertibles such as that car show winning entry that featured in prologue? Will rain hit our helmet visor and will water drip down the dash?

Haha bet the roof will be closed, or no rain on dash, and only on your windscreen, but even that I doubt... I've never seen rain on a windscreen in a game, and wipers... it looks so difficult to implement. Wet tracks are easy, but real rain... and wipers? hmmm

You shouldn't be able to turn off the lights, IMO...Endurance races require that the lights be on at all times (i.e. Le Mans, Petit, Nurburgring, Spa). I do want the ability to flash high beams, though.

Exactly! 👍

Takumi...? 👎

Tazio Nuvolari, on the other hand, would have been a realist, and not stupid example.

Wikipedia
Nuvolari and his co-driver Battista Guidotti in Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 GS spider Zagato won the Mille Miglia, becoming the first to complete the race at an average speed of over 100 km/h (62 mph). Due to starting after his team-mate Achille Varzi, he was leading the race despite still being behind Varzi on the road. In the dark of night Nuvolari tailed Varzi for tens of kilometres, riding at speed of 150 km/h (93 mph) with his headlights off, thereby being invisible in Varzi's rear-view mirrors; he then switched on his headlights before overtaking "the shocked" Varzi near the finish at Brescia.

👍 👍 👍

I think Initial D will be responsible for the deaths of their fans in the near future, while attempting this kind of "techniques" on the roads.

arvin, I agree with you. I will add also that I don't want any Initial D fanboys to crash on me for their incompetence driving with the headlights off (assuming they believe everything they see on Initial D).

lol I don't think anyone in the world is stupid enough to copy the moves of an ANIMATED cartoon to real life. that's like saying people could do kame kame ha in real life. and I don't know about you but If turning off headlight is as the article say as usefull for overtaking at night why not have it? with enough practice I'm sure anyone skilfull enough can take over someone cleanly while turning their headlight off at night. Oh by the way I'm one of those initial D fanboy and I'd really love to race you when the full GT5 comes out, so I can prove you that not all Initial D fanboy sucks @ driving sim racing games.

Problem is, how do we know everyone is a good driver? Time has shown us that not everyone is an excellent driver. I don't need you to prove me anything. In GT4, I consider myself a very good driver. But there's a slight different between very good driver and alien driver. In between those two, there are the ones that are excellent. Personally, I wouldn't go as far as to turn the headlights off (if it worked properly, that is). Even night courses on GT4 were completely iluminated. You could drive with headlights off since they pretty much didn't worked. If it was well done, it surely wouldn't be as easy as Initial D makes people think it is.

If GT5 has damage AND day/night cycles it'll make things interesting, getting your headlights knocked out because you shunted someone early in the race could make it painful later down the race. In GTR2, the night races are harder because the track is actually quite dark and if you turn off your headlights you have no bloody idea where you are going through a lot of parts of the track.

I have a question about the windshield. If you have gravel flying all over the track on a rally, will you get any cracks in the windscreen if there are stones flying at it? Also when it is raining, will the raindrops fall down the window? If the answer is yes it must be essential to have windscreen wipers otherwise you couldn't see from that view. Not clearly that is

This off PS3 version of Ferrari Challenge. I'm sure if they want to, PD can manage the same effect:

If we are going to see water effects in GT5, PD should enlist the help of Naughty Dog...the water effects in Uncharted are the best ever 👍
