I raced and won the Tokyo enduro last night (why did no-one warn me it was 500km!?!).

My girlfriend watched the last lap or so, and was appalled to see me do my usual celebration as I crossed the finish line, ie. a scandinavian skip leading into a 360 degree spin over the finish line, so you cross the finish line facing backwards.

For those unfamiliar with this rallying parlance, you ease left, and then quickly jink right whilst applying the handbrake. In rallying you would quickly release the handbrake to allow the car to turn, but in my instance I leave it on to let the car spin 360.

Am I the only one who does this? Do other people have little celebration ceremonies they perform in the throes of victory?

I do it on every race that I have a big enough lead (: I don't use the hand brake though ...

I do it every race regardless of lead, I pull handbrake and turn into the other car!!

:odd:

That's impossible...

Anyways, no, you're not the only one who does a 180-360 spin over the finish line. I do it also...;)

The computer's very good at catching the second half of the spin so the car points straight!

Seriously though, if you pulled this in real-life racing it would be an instant ban for a couple of races to have a bit of a think about what you'd done...

hrm sometimes i do, sometimes i don't
sometimes i just head straight down teh straighaway and put down the controller and come back in couple mins after a cig to see if i still won or not =p

this is an international thing - my friends and I all do this too.

An even better one is to practice doing 360 degree spins at speed in the middle of a race (you need a few seconds lead and a bit of arrogance). Scandanavian flick it right with the handbrake for the first 180 degrees, then press left and hit reverse to keep the spin going round, as you come round to 360 straighten and hit accelerate again. Great fun.

Yup, Me too.

Nice when you get it wrong, only do 180deg, and the computer yanks it out of 6th, into Reverse, and continues going backwards before reversing into the Pit Exit (this happens a lot at Midfield II).

Luvverly!

:D

There used to be a coin-op f1 game - many years ago - where you could actually flip the car over the finish line, by strategically crashing just before the end.

Thinking of which, do you remember outrun? Even more unrealistic crash damage than GT3 - flip a cabriolet at 200 kph? Just shake your head and walk away!

i like to see if the computer can get control of your car after te finish line. Just start the victory spin a little later so you are spining just afer the line and see how god the comp is. Sometimes they are really good. It i allways fun to get nailed by a car going 170 to straighten you out too.

Personally I love to try the sideways slide across the finishline (ala Driven).

I'm also working on throwing a 360 with my stock Dihatsu Mira.

Last night my bud roared his Escudo (fully hopped up) into a 360 over the finish line (2nd to last lap) on Test Course and probably took more than 3/4 of the front straightaway to come to a complete stop. All the while the e-brake was engaged. Pretty wiz!

But can you fish tail it 3 to 4 times, before you throw it into a finnish sledgehammer.
:D by the way don't bother youreself talking about rallying in here, if you go to the world rally forum you will see it have no inthusiastis followers
this year i am asking for a miracle!! Carlos Sainz taking the drivers championship!! :D :D

Long Live Rallying. :D :D

Okay, well now I feel better knowing I'm not the only one.

But, if I tell my partner that a lot of people does this as well, does this:
- reflect well on me
- reflect badly on everyone else?

It reflects on the fact that a bunch of us GT3 lovers like to whoop it up when we win.

either they:

1. understand, or
2. they don't

Much like they come in two classes:

- dark tone shades, and
- cheap sunglasses

beard is optional

I remember Christian Fittipaldi finishing the Italian Grand Prix this way once. He rode up on someone else's back wheel, and crossed the line upside down, about 15 feet off the ground. Heh heh heh. Cool!

I would say that it's part of racing. If the boys in Formula 1 could get away with it, they'd be doing it too. They do donut burnouts after they win.

That was hilarious!

Two bizarre facts:
- it was his team-mate he hit
- he scored a championship point in the process

I remember the quote from Fittipaldi - he was afraid to close his eyes in case he never opened them again!

Dude! I think I remember watching that live! What year was it?

The "upside down Fittipaldi finish" was in 1993? At the time I didn't know who it was, but I remember watching that. Crazy stuff.

I remember being amazed the car came down on its wheels.

It came not long after Riccardo Patrese flew his Williams (in '92) down the pit straight, either at Spain or Portugal, after hitting the back of another car that was going into pit lane. That was a freak one - car could quite easily have flown into the pits.

Well you guys are all pretty nice, see me, if i'm far enough ahead, will stop right before the long strait away and go through the finish line in reverse. take up some time but i personally think its the all time slap in the face the other
