I can't believe we're going to play the opening match against Germany, much less the group we're in. :ill:

Argentina and the Netherlands look like they got a rather good chance at the playoffs though. Hopefully the US will beat the Czech Republic for a spot also, I imagine Italy will get the other one.

Group B seems the most even in my opinion, aside from Trinidad & Tobago. Portugal's got an easy group, France's is even easier, Group E is interesting too. Brazil usually has some trouble with Japan, but we should be okay.

Damn, still 6 more months of waiting. :(

Argh England has Sweden again! Jesus it wouldn't surprise me if the English players start singing the Swedish national anthem along with them!!

Pffft. The English players have enough trouble remembering their own national anthem, never mind remembering someone else's. They'd probably break in to "Abide With Me" at best.

Let's just be thankful that since it's our national anthem and has to fit the tune, they can't make it politically correct, like they seem to have done with everything else. Can you imagine the England squad having to sing this to the tune of "God Save The Queen"?!!!

"Omnipotent being, whose existence is questionable, save our gracious figurehead monarch of either sex, who now has no power over the general populus, since oppression is bad, unless it's decreed OK by Downing Street.
Long live our noble figurehead monarch of either sex, who now has no power over the general populus, since oppression is bad, unless it's decreed OK by Downing Street.

Send reigningperson victorious, although it longer matters if we win, just as long as we take part, happy and glorious, but not so happy or glorious that we upset the happiness or gloriously challenged.
Long to reign over us, though we all know that it doesn't mean anything, except a free share of everyone else's taxes and several huge country houses, anymore.

Not even one of those fast-talking folks that reads the smallprint claims at the end of radio commercials could fit that in to the proper tune!

Let's do "Land of Hope & Glory" instead, it's a much better anthem!
Looking forward to many more renditions of "Vindaloo" and "Three Lions" too!

Back on topic, it's not a bad draw for England, although I'd put money on Paraguay to spring a surprise or 2. There's no real "Group Of Death" as such, maybe Group E, and hopefully it'll be the USA and Czech Republic that mug Italy for the top spots.
I'd say out of them all, Spain have probably got the most favourable group.

My predictions would have to be:-

Germany and Poland to progress from Group A.
England & Paraguay to progress from Group B.
Argentina & Holland to progress from Group C.
Mexico & Portugal to progress from Group D.
USA & Czech Republic to progress from Group E.
Brazil & Croatia to progress from Group F.
France & Switzerland to progress from Group G.
Spain & Ukraine to progress from Group H.

You don't think Italy will make it!?

I'm just waiting for the first game that Charles is on the throne for. But most of them still say Queen :D

I want to see who the wild cards will be this year. No Greece or Senegal 👎

It will be intresting to see Sweden vs. England [:

Trinidad & Tobago 2, England 1 :sly:
Yeah! You go ahead and write off my defiant optimism! :dopey:
T&T WILL QUALIFY FOR THE ROUND OF 16!

Kenwyne Jones will be one of threats to score against England. In the Trinidad & Tobago game, I reckon Italy will make it in there group.

Bollocks he will. We had him at Sheffield Wednesday. That sort of thing can really screw a player up.

He is really fast aswell, him and York. Could cause the defence problems. If 1 or 2 players make too many mistakes. Brazil are bound to be the favs to win the 2006 WC, Ghana are one of the teams to look out for.

In the 2006 WC, they have got some strong fast players. Some people may of not heard of all there players, but there key ones will have been heard of. In European nations mate.

Well, it's not too far away now. Here are my predictions:

Group A:

Germany
Poland

Very undecided here. Germany are going to have a very tough time, and are going to be very rocky through this group. I wouldn't be surprised if Costa Rica go through.

Group B:

England
Sweden

England really shouldn't have too many problems here, in my opinion, and they should progress through on top. It will be very close for second spot between Sweden and Paraguay.

Group C:

Argentina
Holland

Neither teams should have any problems. Holland are looking very strong, as are Argentina, but you never know with Argentina, I suppose.

Group D:

Mexico
Portugal

This should be a fairly straight-forward group. Mexico v Portugal should be an interesting game.

Group E:

Italy
Czech Republic

Italy really shouldn't have any problems, and I really don't see them getting knocked out of the group. I also think the Czech Republic are going to be too strong for the USA. Czech can't go wrong with Cech! :D

Group F:

Brazil
Australia

This is endlessly discussed on various football and sports programs in Australia. I really do think Australia are going to be the surprise packet this World Cup, and I do think they're looking strong. Croatia will be the toughest game (well, dismissing the Brazil game, of course), but I really think Australia are going to give every game 110%. This is such a massive thing for Australian football, and I really think we're going to do as good as we can. Hey, who knows, Brazil may even become complacent themselves and we could surprise them with a draw!

Group G:

France
Switzerland

France are looking very strong this year. I can actually see them going all the way. Second place will be fairly tough competition between Switzerland and South Korea.

Group H:

Spain
Ukraine

Spain should breeze through this group, and so should the Ukraine.

I'm picking a France v Brazil final.
