Sure the forces are immense still. I only expressed that I might believe that although very intense they wouldn't be as extreme as if, besides the speed, they had to cope with other forces from cornering.

On a circuit you'd be compressing the tyres in the corners. At these sort of speeds the tyres are trying to throw themselves apart with the rotational speed. Add in some crazy temperatures and it's on the edge of sanity!

That would be a good question to ask JohnnyGT....how much air were you running in the tyres on that particular run and what particular tyres mate?? (Brand & size please.)

The big issue is rolling friction, as heat becomes a huge enemy at higher speeds. I know that finding the tires for the Bugatti took some work. And they still only last 15 or so minutes at top speed. Tires are exceedingly complex...

I really don't know if friction is. I mean look at the shape of top fuel dragsters and how quickly they are thrown into shape with the revolution of the wheel.

But that isn't as sustained. When you double the speed of a tire (say 100 to 200mph), forces quadruple. And when the tire is rotating 10 times per second, all those small deformations add up very quickly.

Hey guys, we're taking the GT out tomorrow morning for a spin at the Exotics Rally in Miami.
Exotics Rally
I got a new iPhone and will be testing a streaming feed from it. The URL is:
Live feed when broadcasting
http://pprsupercars.com/live
Please don't expect too much, this is really just a little test. If I'm not broadcasting live it should show the last video I recorded (which is none right now). The racing starts at 8AM, but I have no idea when our run will be. If you get a chance, check it out and let me know if it worked or not.
Thanks guys!
Go FORD!

NEWS!!!!!:

Apparently a certain Ford GT built by Heffner Performance in YELLOW shattered the 252.97mph record.
266.9MPH
in Miami Florida. Performance Power the shop that built the said Ford GT in the beginning of this thread ran a 255mph, so it broke its own record, but the Heffner GT beat that by 11mph!!!

Wish I could post some vids but none any at this moment. (5:02pm West Coast time). Wish I actually OWNED a Ford GT.
CONGRATS HEFFNER PERFORMANCE, and GJ FORD for making a bad ass super car!

There seems to be some confusion then. We were told we went 267.2. How hard is it to clock speeds? I bet there's even an app for that. We aren't claiming the time until we look at our data.

Whoa.....267.2mph?!?!?!?

Holy 🤬, get your ass off here and check your data NOW Johnny!! :D Then give us another awesome in-car vid of this magnificent run.

And here's the video of the Heffner Yellow GT.

And here's video of Johnny's GT.

Enjoy people.

50-150 mph in under 7 seconds. thats getting in and out of the throttle, and having terrible traction issues. still enough to tromp all over a Busa. that things NASTY

Doesn't look like 266mph to me, it looks more like a lazy launch. Where's the telemtry, the time slips, etc? Where is Jergto's link going anywhere?

To all standing mile racing enthusiasts,

After consulting with my team, my lawyer and my therapist I find that I cannot follow their advice and leave this alone. With no offense to Ray Hofman, I am 100% sure that the speed credited to him on Sunday’s run at the Exotics Rally is incorrect. Why do I feel so strongly? It’s simple logic.

Here is Ray Hofman’s run at the Texas Mile in March.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Db6zuZjWCmE

At Texas (after 3 days of runs and on his final attempt) Ray distinctly goes through five gears (not six) and reaches the mile marker in 24 seconds. His time credited was 249.7mph. So far I have not seen a video of his fastest run at the Exotics Rally. DragTimes.com does show part of a run, but it cuts off before completion.

“For those who were interested, Ray took 24.1 seconds to cover the standing mile.”
– Heffner Performance

How then is it possible to gain over 16 miles per hour and take longer to get to the finish line?
I cannot leave this alone because my business depends on verifiable accuracy. One person called this a game “played by intense individuals for personal satisfaction.” I can assure you that this is no game for PPR. Unsubstantiated claims hurt my business as well as my credibility. If I‘m wrong, I will…

“accept the results, and enjoy the camaraderie of fellow competitors and fans.”

But as of now, there has been no video, no data, no timing slips, absolutely nothing to verify the claims being tossed around. Jason Heffner would need to step up to the plate and post data and an in-car video of his 266.9 run for me to be satisfied.

My verifiable 252.97mph run at Top Gun Run took almost 24 seconds.

My best run at Exotics Rally, where I was told I went 255mph, (yet received no timing slips even asking for them five times) took 23.1 seconds. Unfortunately an electronic malfunction kills our data half-way through the run, but here is the video. You can time it for yourselves.

If Ray Hofman’s legitimately ran 266.9mph then there should be nothing stopping them from posting the video and data to back it up. Hell, when we set our record we were so proud that we had the video up that same night. Also, I haven’t seen Jason or Ray claim the mph the car ran. Sometimes it’s the things that aren’t said that speak the loudest. This isn’t sour grapes. I’m a shop owner playing this "game" with my own money and have an enormous amount of respect for anyone participating in this insane event. I just don’t like losing when the data (or lack of it) might say otherwise.

I propose a heads-up race between the top three tuners in the world. This would be great for the sport and would settle any disputes. Any takers??

Its an honor to have you here:drool: and I am sure you guys will figure it out. Both cars are wicked fast and I say you have an old school shootout with a more official timing system. If only I lived down there I would love to watch you guys and I am sure that GT has a good amount of speed left in it to break the not so official record.:scared:

Even though I'm pretty sure my stock gti can do about 280 but thats besides the point.👍:sly:

Keep us updated!:dopey:

Is that in Kilometers or miles? ;3

((actually, that's ridiculously fast any way you slice it, but...))

Anyway, with things starting to look like shenanigans have been pulled, I'm beginning to get a little concerned. Yeah, an actual competitive event would be awesome. I suggest Bonneville. Might be interesting to see how they hook up on the Salt.

lol I hope you know I was kidding, the fuel cut is like 130mph lol.

Im sure traction would stink and salt but it sure would be a sight to see.👍

Johnny, please tell me you're going to be at the Texas Mile in Oct. Would love to watch you duke it out with the DFW folks.

Doesn't salt have a higher drag coefficient anyway?

I think that really says something when the event organizers won't even give you the official timeslips.

I make mention of the TKR doing 260mph in 3 miles on salt and you all go off at me, yet not even a few weeks later, you're giving suggestions that something that does 260mph in 1/3 the space go and do the same thing.............

Hypocrites much?? :grumpy:

Hey, I didn't say anything about that. but, yeah, Didnt' think about the salt surface...and it's only a mile, a runway should suffice.

Sorry Jim, my comment wasn't directed at you, it's just that I used your quote because you and others have said salt but when I talked about a car using a salt pan for it's testing, I get torn up six ways from Sunday.

Hey! I didn't say anything either lol. I am innocent :dopey:
