You wouldn't exactly drive it to work every day though in a normal world, it's a car built for what we see in the video, if it happens to work for other things thats fine but I can't imagine there's much room for the shopping, or the fuel consumption is great, let alone the terrible danger if your right foot becomes heavy. My point is it's not the kind of thing they're going to be pushing out in any numbers if more then 1.

Anythings technically streetable so long as it's legal, but that doesn't make it realistically usable. Most supercars aren't to begin with very practical let alone when you go and turn it up to like 11 let alone 20.

I think you'd just leave it in 6th gear permanently for daily driving.

I think it would be very streetable. You've got the V8 for getting around town and the turbos for destroying anyone foolish enough to get in your way.

The problem is mostly cam profiles, not the lack of low-rev boost. It probably idles at 2,000 rpm just to stay running.

Hi all. I'm Johnny Bohmer. I own and operate a speed shop in West Palm Beach, Florida called Performance Power Racing. On Sunday, March 14th I broke the world's record for fastest car in the standing mile at the Top Gun Run in Miami. Did I say broke it? Dude, I shattered it by about 30 mph! My official time was 252.97, but trust me, there's more where that came from. I'll keep everyone posted as to our accomplishments. Thank you GTPlanet for giving us a place to beat our chest and show off our accomplishments!

It was our pleasure Johnny. As soon as I saw the run, I had to share it with all the boys and girls here at GTPlanet, it was too awesome a run not to be shared.

So what's your prediction for the car as it sits with it's current gearing and such?? 260mph or even more than that?? :)

As it sits, I'd say 265 with a perfect run, but I know it can do 275 with gearing. In a mile and a half I can top 300mph. Our plan is to take this year and build another GT, a Dodge Viper and a Lamborghini LP640. I'll post updates as long as the forum admins don't consider that advertising for my shop. I just got banned from somewhere else for that and now I'm trying to be careful.
Thanks for the compliments guys. Living the dream!

Might be an idea to shoot the admins a mail to check just in case... I would love to see updates of projects you guys are doing.. 👍 Congratulations on setting a new speed record and itching to see what else is in store :D

What exactly is allowed here? Tube-frame chassis? Wrinklewalls? Mountain motors making ridiculous amounts of power on alcohol?

If you have any spare cars lying about, you know the odd Ferrari, GT or Lamboghini that you need disposing of just let me know. I won't even charge you a collection fee or anything.

On a side note congratulations on the run and I look forward to seeing even more blistering performances.

Wow, 265mph, that's absolutely frightening!! How much power is being put out from the motor?? Because we've read 1800hp on a couple of sources but it's better to get the answer straight from the horses mouth as they say.

Also, I don't think Jordan will mind too much Johnny, it's not like you've come on saying, "OH LOOK AT MY SHOP LOOKIE LOOKIE HERE PLEASE!!", and to have a person of your caliber at GTP would be an asset to us all.

Id like to know more about the rules for the runs, more specifically, tires. Making 1500+ HP doesn't mean squat if you cant put it to the ground. Id also like to know what would happen if you took a production car to said top speeds (260+). What kind of stress would that put on, well, everything? Anyway, glad to see that you can make a run of that speed and have everything stay in one piece.

I'd also be very very interested as to what kind of tires are you allowed to use in order to more or less put down the obscene power this thing is developing.

and, of course, welcome (:

Lets stick with the important stuff, forget numbers what that GT is, is completely mental and awesome to boot. Sure it's unusable in a real world situation, but I doubt they ever planned on using it on the road often.
While I can't speak for Flordia's owners, I do know many of the guys in the Texas Mile drive their cars quite often.

Speaking of which, Johnny, when can we expect you over here? UGR's TT Gallardo & Heffner's Ford GT have both broke past the 250Mph barrier & still have more to give. :)

I bet when they dial the boost back down these cars aren't that bad to drive. Maybe not at real low speeds because of aggressive cams, but otherwise its probably doable.

Not only is it doable, I drive the car nearly every day when I drop my kid off at school. It's street legal and a nice ride. Oh, and the A/C is freezing cold!
The engine can do around 1800, but we have it dialed back to about 1550. As you can imagine, things are pretty hectic around here lately. But we're finalizing our plans for the next few months and will keep you posted as soon as we know. You won't want to miss it. Forget 260. I'm going for 275 to quiet some haters. Thanks for the support guys!

A very cool car indeed. I wish I had known what I was looking at when I saw it a few months ago, I would have taken a lot more pictures. It's not every day that you see a car on the road with a parachute on the back of it.

Not wanting to sound like that hater now, but is it wrong for me to question that achievement on street legal tires? The power is there, yes, but I'm seriously doubting you'll find the traction to get there. But of course you are the driver, so you have a much better feeling for the conditions than all us internet nerds :P

I'm also very interested to see what Boost Logic will do now you guys have taken the limit up so much higher.

BTW can someone explain to me why this doesn't hold the record?

*youtube vid*

Because it's just a video of a Lingenfelter going up and down a freaking airstrip, it doesn't show any necessary stats (like in-car telemetry), doesn't make mention of it's speed or anything.

So thanks Moglet, I want my 4 minutes back, that video was boring. :P

The tires on my car are only rated for 150mph. I'm talking with people who say they will make a better tire, so who knows? All I can tell you is that it will do 275 on the tires or on my lid!

What kind of tires? Couldn't you be on some of the 200mph+ tires that supercars come with? I know traction's a huge issue, but I don't know what you're restricted to...

I'd imagine that pure straight line velocity as it seems the case here wouldn't put the tires in as much stress as it would on a circuit track, maybe the reason for the fitted 150mph+ being able to cope with this higher speeds...

On a circuit you'd be compressing the tyres in the corners. At these sort of speeds the tyres are trying to throw themselves apart with the rotational speed. Add in some crazy temperatures and it's on the edge of sanity!
