Super Lap Qualifying

Qualifying will be held through live online sessions.

Procedure
  • A group of drivers per class will be given 2 flying laps to set a qualifying lap. The race will be set to 4 laps, 1 outlap, 2 flying laps, and 1 "cool down" (If more than 1 driver are qualifying, we need the 4th lap to not put any stress on the last driver in the pack since he technically could be more than 180 seconds behind the first car, depending on how many cars are in the session at the same time).
  • Laps will be run in 'Race' and will depend on track size (Standard=2 laps).
  • Laps will be monitored and watched by fellow competitors to validate cleanliness.
  • The number of cars allowed to run in each session will depend on track length.
  • Once the race has been started by the host, cars will roll on their warm up lap.
  • Drivers must leave gaps between each other to allow sufficient space (around 20-30 seconds).
  • The standard '2 wheel on track at all times' rule will apply (Check Post #3 for Racing Conduct 'Ch.IV Track Contact').
  • Once finished, spectators will declare if their assigned driver ran a clean or dirty lap.
  • If a protest arises over a doubtful or dirty lap, the replay will be saved by the host and checked by the stewards.
  • If confirmed dirty, a timed penalty will be imposed depending on the severity of the offense (Standard 5 seconds).
  • The process will be until all drivers that are confirmed for the race have qualified.
  • For the Longer circuits, the procedure will be the same as for the "normal" quali, with the exeption that you'll only get 1 lap to set your time, and the "Startline" will be from sector 2 at La Sarthe and sector 4 at Nurburgring 24h.

NOTE: Any success ballast incurred by a driver will not be applied during qualifying sessions. All qualifying sessions will be with stock* cars.

*stock = Cars that are modded/tuned to the WSGTC's regulations are concidered stock. Do not confuse the word "stock", as a completely stock car from the dealership.

Rules regarding qualifying procedure:
  1. If a driver runs into ANY trouble during an official qualifying session, the session can under no circumstance restart. Unless:
Someting happens during the outlap, and you're the only car on track, the session can restart as long as the timer for the firts flying lap has not been activated.
  2. If a driver does not complete the 4th lap, and the replay file is corrupt, he runs the risk of not getting an official time, EVEN if the
lap was watched and verified clean by a spectator. (It's VERY important that you end the 4th lap)
  3. If a driver disconnects during a session, he may reconnect and drive up to that at which he got DC'd. If the DC occurs while on the 1st (2nd lap) qualy-lap, he may restart and this time ONLY his 2nd (3rd lap) qualy-lap will be valid. The lap where the driver got DC'd counts as "dirty" with no registered lap-time.
  4. If the car that DC's has any form of damage, but still are able to reconnect and restart his session, that drivers must damage his car to the same grade of damage that the car had just before he got DC'd.
  5. If a qualy-lap is "dirty", there are 2 scenarios.
    a. If a lap-time beyond any doubt was slower due to an "off track/dirty" situation, no penalty is given and the lap-time stays.
    b. If a lap-time could have gained any time what so ever due to an "off track/dirty" situation, a penalty of 5 seconds will be applied to the lap-time.

Qualifying Deadline: Friday 02.00 am CET / 01.00 am BST / 00.00 GMT and Thursday 20.00 pm EST / 17.00 PM (PST). The deadlines are Fridays (GMT/CET) and Thursdays (PST/EST) of the week each race is scheduled. Around 20 hours are left prior to race to give organizers time to sort the grid, view replays, find hosts e.t.c. Under no circumstance can a Qualifying lap be run after the deadline has passed.

Any of the Stewards or Capable Hosts, under the supervision of a Steward/Capable Host, can announce and open a qualifying session at any time.
No qualifying sessions can be conducted after Thursday (Friday, depending on time zone). Qualifying will be completed on hard Racing Tyres.

Setting Grid Positions on Race Day
The grid will be set by running a formation/parade lap. After the race countdown reaches zero, you must hold your positions! DO NOT MOVE ONE INCH!. Remember your
spot from the qualifying results, as well as the drivers in front of and behind you.

Same class:
Cars move from the grid ONE by ONEin qualifying order. The Pole car drives up and parks about 100 m (300 ft) a head. (WHILE DOING SO, THE OTHER CARS DO NOT MOVE ONE INCH). As he passes the start-line, the next driver can move up, and so on. When all cars are in the correct position and are NOT moving, the pole car may start the formation lap.

Mixed class
GT300's will sort their grid positions first. While GT300's sort their grid, GT500's DO NOT MOVE.
GT300 cars move from the grid ONE by ONE in qualifying order. The Pole car drives up and parks about 100 m (300 ft) ahead. (WHILE DOING SO, THE OTHER CARS DO NOT MOVE ONE INCH). As he pases the start line, the next driver can move up, and so on. Once all cars are in the correct position and are NOT moving, the pole car may start the first of two formation laps. When the first lap is comleted, be sure to pass the parked GT500 pack with caution. As soon as the GT300 pack have passed the GT500 pack, the GT500's may pull away from the start line ONE by ONE in starting order.
From here on, GT300's lead the formation lap, with GT500's about 45-60 seconds behind.

We use this procedure to try and ensure that all cars got a decent chance of completing the race before the timer (max 180 sec) runs out. By doing this, we also get finishing times for (hopefully) all cars making any penalties encurred easier to apply.

With this in mind, follow the steps below:

  • First, you must remember your Grid Spot (Super Lap Qualifying).
  • Hold your positions when countdown reaches zero.
  • Cars will make their way ONE BY ONE to the front and roll as a separate pack.
  • Cars must roll at a maintained pace of 55 mph / 90 kmh.
  • Field will roll double file (Single file for the Nurburgring 24h race).
  • Odd numbers will start on the inside lane relative to turn 1.
  • Even numbers will stay on the outside lane (Opposite side).
  • The Pole sitter will decide the point at which the race starts as he approaches the start-finish line.
  • You must maintain a minimum of One car length between you and the car in front (same lane).
  • One car length is the minimum, meaning it's up to you how large the gap is.
  • You must always maintain FULL visual contact with the ahead of you (opposite lane).
  • You're front bumper must not overlap the rear bumper of the car ahead of you (oposite lane), doing so can be viewed as a false start and a penalty can be applied as a result.
  • You must wait for the car ahead of you (opposite lane) to accelarate before you do!
  • No passing before the start finish line! Penalties will be strictly enforced for false starts, illegal passing, and overall aggressive driving!

IMPORTANT: In case of a disonnect during the formation lap, the cars behind have to maintain their position, and can NOT move up the grid. Doing so can result in a penalty for breach of "jump start".

Diagram of an ideal rolling pack

Grid2.jpg

Real Life Example of a Rolling Start:

Raceday
Mixed Class: There will be 2 races held which will be split into two rooms. Each race/grid
will consist of Seven GT500 cars and seven GT300 cars. The top seven qualifiers for each class will end up Division 1, while the bottom seven will go to Division 2.

Same Class: GT500 and GT300 cars will battle their own kind. There will be only one room per class.
Top 14 qualifying times will make this single-room event.

Hosts: Announced 20 hours prior to the race.

Points System

sameclassps-1.jpg

pointstablemc-1.jpg

Bonus Points/Race % competion:
Pole Position: 3p
Fastest Lap: 2p
Finishing race: All drivers will recieve points if atleast 10% of the race is completed before a DC.
% completion points:
0-9: 0p
10-19: 1p
20-29: 2p
30-39: 3p
40-49: 4p
50-59: 5p
60-69: 6p
70-79: 7p
80-89: 8p
90-99: 9p
100: 10p

Race Percentage Completion
Drivers must complete atleast 85% of the overall race lenght or he/she
will not earn a single championship point (bonus points is kept).
Points classification will move up accordingly. This means any D2 driver can
earn as much as finishing second overall.

How to calculate race % completion:
Just devide tha lap the driver was at when he got DC'd, with the total amount of laps. Simply use the numbers in the top, left on the screen. If I got DC'd at lap 13/78=16%, which will give you 1 bonus point.
The formation lap/s are counted, as well as the not yet completed lap. But we willalways calculate the race % completion like this and it will be the same for everyone.

Ballast: Succes penalty system
3 first cars from each class to cross the finishline will get a succes ballast penalty for the next race.
The success ballast penalty will be different for the 2 classe. See below.

GT500:
1st: 60 kg
2nd: 40 kg
3rd: 20 kg

GT300:
1st: 50 kg
2nd: 30 kg
3rd: 10 kg

Success penalties can only be removed with 20 kg at a time. And to be able to remove 20 kg, you need to miss the podium. If you keep hitting podiums, your success ballast will keep on adding up until you finally miss the podium.

Participation
To accommodate real life commitments (absences), only 8 races will be counted into your standings.
You can drop which ever 3 races you feel like.

NOTE: Bonuspoints can not be removed from the total score! If a driver completes 11/11 races and got 110 bonuspoints (10 bonuspoints/race), he will keep them, even when 3 rounds are dropped. Same rule apply with Pole Position points, and bonuspoints for fastest lap.

Tie Breakers
  • Points
  • Wins
  • Podiums
  • Finished Races
  • Bonus Points
  • Race Starts

  • CONNECT TIME AND RACE TIME
  • ALL drivers must be in the room atleast 15 minutes prior the race. If not, you will be excluded from the race, and all drivers below will move up accordingly. We need to have 15 minutes to make sure that drivers have the time to change rooms/comming in from waiting lists. If you know that you'll be late, make sure to notify the Host for your race in advance. If you do not notify the host, your spot will go to someone from D2/Waiting list as stated above.
  • All drivers must stay tuned of the situation 15 minutes prior the race by looking in this thread. If a driver is missing, a steward or the host for that race where a driver is missing will state that wery clearly in this thread. If a driver is missing in D1, pole for D2 will move up to 7th in D1, and the first on the waiting list will move up to 7th in D2, or if it's a "Same Class" race, the driver from the waiting list will start the race from last grid slot.
  • This is a bit of a communication issue, and that's why I ask all drivers to stay sharp during the fiftheen-minute-mark prior the race to make the task as easy to manage as possible for us stewards.

Host Checklist

1. Setup the Raceroom atleast 30 minutes prior race start (Connect Time).
*Type: "WSGTC ROUND x"
*Track for that week, set to 175 km. Round up the number of laps. And remember to add the formationlap as well.
*Race For Real
*Number of Participants: 14
*Mic/Headset: OFF
*High (Recommended)
*NOT fixed room

*Penalty: OFF
*Grid Start
*Grip Reduction on wet track/track edge: Real
*Damage: Heavy
*Race Finish Delay: 180 (max)
*Time/Weather on all the enduros and tracks that got "Weather Change" as option.
*Bost: OFF

*542 hp limit (When the race is about to start, let the car on track in PP order. From lowest to highest, you can let the cars to track using bhp as well. If we change the method we are using, the possibility to cheat will decrease)
*1050 kg limit for races that include GT300's/1090 kg for races that only includes GT500's
*Tyres: Racing Hard
*ASM: OFF
*TCS: OFF
*SRF: OFF
*Active Steering: OFF
*Driving Line: OFF

2. Post Room Number in the thread

3. Make sure to have the sarting grid close at hand. It will make it easy for you to answer any questions regarding grid spots.

4. If a driver is missing 15 minutes prior the race, you shall post in the thread that a driver from D2/Waiting list can enter. If the "original" driver shows up after you have posted that a spot is open, you have to kick the "original" driver. If a driver states very clearly in the thread that he for some reason will arrive late, it's perfectly fine. But he NEEDS to make sure that the host for the race he is going to participate in knows. Throwing a way a PM as a compliment to the post in the thread is a smart move.

5. Make sure to save the replay.

::::: CODE OF RACING CONDUCT :::::

I. Gentleman's Rule
Any GT300 car can use the entire width of the track, however, as soon as it is caught by a fast approaching GT500 car, the GT300 driver must hold its line and allow the faster car to go through at the first available opening. If for some reason the GT300 driver has been caught up in traffic and is unable to hold it's line, the overtaking car will flash his high beam lights to indicate that he is about to overtake. A driver that chooses to ignore the signal multiple times will be reported to the Stewards.

II. Passing
Who has the right of way into a corner will depend on the positions of the cars. If an overtaking car is fully alongside its competitor within or after the braking point, the rights to the corner go to the overtaking driver. The car being overtaken must surrender the position and should not turn in to the other driver. Otherwise, if the overtaking driver is not fully alongside its competitor at the turn in point, the rights belong to the driver ahead, and it is the obligation of the car attempting to overtake to give the other driver room and do everything possible to prevent an incident. As we all know, peripheral vision is limited in Sim Racing so it is advised that you maximize the available resources we have, such as mirrors, track maps, and audio cues like engine and exhaust notes, to prevent incidents.

III. Defensive Driving
Depending on the situation, any car can be overtaken from either side of the track. You can defend your position only 'once' by changing directions. Anything overly aggressive like sudden movements (when the overtaking car is about to pass and is very close) or deliberately squeezing the car beyond the edge of the track or any other unusual change of direction are strictly forbidden. This is considered illegal blocking and any driver found guilty of using such a method of driving should be reported to the Stewards.

Driving down a straight and placing your car off or opposite the driving line far in advance before the braking point, forcing your opponent to take the outside line or a different line in general, is considered a reasonable strategy for defending your position. This counts as 'one move' - pertaining to the 1st paragraph above. Any more sudden movements right after will be considered illegal blocking and should be reported to the Stewards.

IV. Track Contact
a) Drivers must always keep 2 wheels on (or vertically in line with) the track at all times
b) The edges of the track are marked with white lines and are considered to be a part of the track. Gray/Concrete cobbles are part of the tack.
c) The Rumble Strips are part of the track; however, all surfaces with green paint, either beside it or be the rumbles themselves, are not part of the track
d) Do not hit any objects visible or invisible (eg. cones, barriers, walls, etc.)

In a situation where the driver goes off the track, and without prejudice to part (e) below, he may rejoin, only when it is safe and without gaining any advantage.
Also, if a driver unintentionally or intentionally leaves the track and gains a spot, he must relinquish that spot or he will be penalized.

e) Drivers committing serious mistakes repeatedly or appearing to have a problem keeping the car on the track will be reported to the stewards which could result in penalties.

At any given time during the season, drivers are expected to follow these rules. Any driver who deliberately appears to break any of these rules to gain advantage at any stage in the race or the season could be penalized by the Stewards as in the case of 'Excistor' during the 2nd race of the preseason, when he deliberately collided with multiple cars, resulting into damaged cars and ruined races. 'Excistor' has now been banned from the series.

V. In Case Of Emergency
As long as you've not crossed the finishl ine, you can turn around to enter the Pits. This rule is to make it legit for a driver who suffered from bad luck entering the pits, but for some reason did not make it. If something happens to you, and you're turning around to re-enter the pit lane, you need to be aware of this:
1. Anything ending up in an incident (resulting in damage or not) while driving backwards will be viewed upon as "Causing avoidable damage", with a minimum penalty of 25 seconds. It's extremely important that you take it nice and slowly, making sure you don't interfere with anyone else and be very cautious.

::::: PENALTY SYSTEM :::::

Stewards have the power to impose various penalties on a driver if he commits an offence during a race. Offences include jumping the start, causing an avoidable accident, unfairly blocking another driver, impeding another driver when being lapped, or gaining an advantage by leaving the track. Penalties will vary depending on the severity of the offence. Stewards can impose time penalties, reprimand a driver, exclude him from the results and suspend him from the next race or the entire series.

I. Offences
  • Breach of the required vehicle specs and 'Race Rules' (minimum DQ)
  • Breach of the 'Gentleman's Rule' (minimum 10 second penalty)
  • Breach of Track Contact Rules (minimum 10 second penalty)
  • False Start (Passing before start finish of Rolling Start) (minimum 10 second penalty)
  • Avoidable contact resulting in damage (minimum 25 second penalty)
  • Hindering drivers from overtaking by changing direction more than once (minimum 10 second penalty)
  • Illegal blocking/forcing cars off track (minimum 10 second penalty)
  • Not relinquishing gained position/s after leaving track (minimum +25 second penalty)
  • Rejoining the track without regards to oncoming traffic (minimum +10 second penalty)
  • Overall aggressive driving (minimum warning)

Any of the above can add up together resulting to bigger timed penalties and/or Disqualification.

II. Penalties
Specifics
  • +10 seconds to Total Time
  • +25 seconds to Total Time
  • +40 seconds to Total Time
  • +5 spots down the grid for next race
  • Exclusion from Results (DQ)
  • Suspension for 1 Race + Probation for whole season
  • Exclusion from the whole Championship

Breach of Racing Code - IV. Track Contact
Three Strike System

Strike 1: Warning
Strike 2: +10 seconds
Strike 3: +25 seconds (May depend on steward deliberation)
Further track contact violations will result in bigger timed penalties and/or Disqualification.

III. Reporting an Incident
Issues must be first kept privately between the parties involved (through the PM system). If the said parties do not come to a mutual agreement, the issue must be escalated and reported to the Stewards within 24 hours of the race finishing, otherwise, thanks to the crap replay system, penalties will not be given out or considered unless it is noted by the Stewards (If you are involved, it is your responsibility to inform the Stewards of your side of the story within the 24 hour time limit). Furthermore, if a Steward/s is/are involved in an incident, he/she will be excluded temporarily from the Stewards Committee.

indy022-1.jpg

Please disclose important information about incidents along with your report.
  • Lap/Time when incident occurred
  • How long did incident occur (approx.)
  • How many were involved
  • Who was involved

Deliberation Process
  • An incident is reported and/or noted by Drivers/Stewards.
  • Stewards will contact driver/s who are porentially at fault.
  • After hearing both parties, the Stewards will review the replay and give suitable penalties.

Enforcing Penalties
Penalties will be strictly enforced. They can neither be appealed nor reversed.

I know that some of you want more Mixed Class races, and I'm totally up for it. But be sure to post here how YOU want it. The more of you who post, the better the outcome.

Suggested layout for the tables:

wsgtc2table-1-1.jpg

As you can see, this table is just a skiss. It will look better when round 1 is completed and our first official table is going in to the OP. 👍

I've already inserted the Key, and point system tables in the OP with this layout.

New thread is looking good denilson! looking forward to the season opener!

Wow yes the new thread is looking good, hvnt read over all of it but will do soon (just woke up lol)

Great work Denilson, very proffesional!!

Just been looking through the schedule and due to my commitments with the FIA Truck Racing Championship im set to miss 5 of the 11 races as it stands now. If the schedule could be shifted either 1 week earlier or 1 week later then that would mean i should only miss the 2 that can be dropped which would be a big help for me.

I will always make every effort to attend as many as i can and i will still participate in the championship even if i have to miss too many races to be in with a shout to make the final shootout. I obviously dont expect things to be changed for one person if it doesn't suit several others but just wanted to raise the question.

im sure we can move it a week early or later, i wud prefer early as i want to get it going but i dont want to rush anything hehe

Scanny_Flick: That's exactly the kind of info I need. Thank you. 👍
By setting the schedule this early, I hope that participation will increase. Since races are not schedueled to run for 12 straight Fridays, I hope that all of you can with some arrangement attend to 8 races over a 16 week period and still have the possibility to reach the finals. You know that we extended the season with one more race in combonation with the possibility to remove 3 instead of 2 races, to get more drivers to still be in the race also during the later part of the season. Adding the final round 12 Concept was also part of this strategy. And since the possibility to reach the finals is still there for anyone who attend to 8 races in 16 weeks, my hopes are that the fight for a spot among the top 4 will be huge! I've taken note of your standpoint about the schedule. 👍

Competizione: You can participate in any class. But since you've not yet decided, I'll keep you in GT300 for now.

Pagi: Yea, I also want to get going as soon as possible. Maybee the 22nd is a better date. But earlier than that will be tough since a lot of us go away during the summer. Especially July. Don't know exactly how it looks in GB, US, CAN, DEN, ITA etc, but in SWE, July is when Sweden stand still.

And you guys who got the energy to read the entire OP:
My english is far from perfect, and sometimes I can be a bit sloppy as well. I'd like you who got english as your native speach to pin point grammar fail and sentences that "sounds funny" in the OP for me to correct. Thanks in advance.

I will go through it for you over the next couple of days

We'll sort the cars out after the 2nd pre-season race. However, I am not 100% sure that I got the level of tunes spot on. And I would love to get some feedback from all of you ragarding this matter.

How we are going to hand out/pick cars is still pretty much up in the air.

Oh god. And I thought I had it tough to compete against Senninha and Aderrrm :P

Edit: I will not be able to make Rounds 1, 4 and 8 as it stands due to racing commitments, but I think that will be no problem with the ability to drop rounds etc 👍

Andil: How would it work out for you if we moved everything one week, starting on the 22nd?

Additional competition in the GT300 class:

Welcome akmuq (GTP_Akmuq)

quick idea, as people like mole and falcon, (maybe scanny) have race weekends and wont be around friday sat sun.

Why not race mid week? or do people like fridays

(might not be ideal for non europeans)

Also im not sure about the "Proposed Race Schedule" with gaps, im easy and dont really mind even tho i do like to go out on my weekends off (when i get them lol)

Plus welcome to new guys (unlucky gt300 guys, shud be interesting)

Welcome to GT300 tony and akmuq. :D

Personally I would only like Nurb 24h, Monaco and Tsukuba to be kept Same Class. Mixed Class is way more exciting!

If you move the race schedule back one week, that means I miss the first race, then miss the second race by a few days which means it will be 4 weeks from season start till my first season race. So obviously I'm against that - but if it suits more people then obviously it has to happen. It would be more ideal for me if we only moved the first race back a week, then I only miss 1 race.

I've probably already said it, but I also prefer if we just raced every week. It seems people always have something crop up, or they've forgotten they're going to a wedding or something stupid, so I don't really think it would advantage anyone to have a 1 week gap then a no week gap. The quicker the season, the more exciting it stays imo. 👍

I cant race midweek cause i go into school so my parents will not be happy about me racing in the evenings.........

completly agree with it about the shorter season and mixed class races:)

To chorda: I wouldnt worry about changing the dates, its fine, keep it as is imo - everyone will have to miss a round or two for other commitments so its no probs, the world doesnt revolve around me :P

I find it impossible to please every single one to 100%. But I really appritiate the input I get. Makes the planning so much easyer.
I'm pretty sure that we'll stick with format that gives us a few free Fridays. I totally understand that by racing every week, the Championship is more intence, kind of...
But I think that by setting the schedule now, and also leave a few fridays off in between will do the number of drivers in each race good.

So what if we move only the first race one week?

For me, Friday evening/night is pretty much my only day I can deticate to GT5. I also believe that it suits most of us in some way. Maybee not perfect, but as far as race days ans times goes, I think all of us have to strech out a bit.

Everything else can be (almost) perfect, but the days and times will probably be less perfect for all. Hence the possibility to drop 3 races.

Mixed class.. I like it, but I also like same class. I agree that it's an awsome twist to same class racing. And I also know that some of is prefer same class. I'm trying to come to the best compomize possible. 👍

I'm going to figure something out. I'll be back. ;)

My latest suggestion was:
Mixed class:
Fuji
Daytona
Indianapolis
La Sarthe
Suzuka
Laguna Seca (or was it nur gp/f?)

Same class
Monaco
Tsukuba
Nurburgring 24h
Nur gp/f ( or was it Seca?)
Monza

Is this ok?

Still have no clue what to go for between the Celica and Garaiya. I'll have to test them a bit more.

I'll PM you, Denilson, when I'm set. The split between same and mixed-class seems good to me (the one you have in the above post).

I think the best compromise for mixed v same class would be to make these changes to current proposed schedule:

- make Indy Road Mixed class
- make La Sarthe mixed class
- make Suzuka mixed class
- swap the end Suzuka enduro with the Nurb 24h enduro* (this means the last race will be same class, giving a better season finale as explained by Denilson)

*My reason in swapping Suzuka with Nurb 24h rather than La Sarthe is because it moves Nurb 24h away from the non-enduro Nurb GP/F.

That makes 7 mixed class, 4 same class. Same class would be Monza, Tsukuba, Monaco and Nurb 24h.

?

Yes, that's a good suggestion. BUT to make such big changes from the original suggestion, we need to come up with a new points table for the mixed class races. How about hand out same points for D2.1 and D1.6 instead of D2.1 and D1.5 as in the previous proposal?

I don't want to favour D2 as much as it will get if 7/11 races are mixed class. Make sence?
