That IndyCar doesn't even look bad.
But that's not the real one. This is the real one.

Fluorescent colors on anything other than white backgrounds, do not belong on professional racing cars, period.

I swear some of these teams are getting their ideas from pCARS. That Indycar, and that black, white & green Viper both look like one of the Renault Clio TC1 liveries.

I'm going to correct some of the mistakes in this thread. All opinions of course.

Team Vodafone's 2012 livery is pretty horrible:

Mostly because it's a politically-motivated design. The over-use of red coincides with Holden directing more and more money towards the team; it's a clear statement that Triple Eight is "theirs". It couldn't be any less subtle if it showed a picture of Simon McNamara - Holden's motorsport director - lifting his leg against the car to mark his territory.

It's just one color. How is that a livery?

Far too many colours and messy patterns:

Red completely ruins it:

Ugly car, ugly livery..again could probably do without the red:

Toyota's F1 liveries were all very lazy (their test car had a great livery though):

The Red on the throwback livery looks nice. I actually think it looks better than the original. It gives it a nice contrast.

Very nice Mazda.

I raise you, Mastercard Lola.

Lol, my boss is driving in this very picture

I utterly hate the post-West liveried chrome McLarens.

You're right, silver doesn't often work well when it comes to sponsored liveries. However;

Silver being used well

Those McLarens look a heck of a lot better than this years piece of crap.

Its similar to Tony Stewart's Home Depot car from a long time ago.

Again, it's all Orange. How is this a livery?

I actually like or at least don't mind many of the liveries posted in here. "Worst liveries" should be things like horrible color combinations (like orange and purple), unfitting colors like hot pink (not terribly motorsports-y), generic liveries (solid color or near-solid, perhaps with just a basic sponsor/team name printed blandly on there), or maybe liveries with humiliating sponsors.

Here's an excellent example of an atrocious livery:
-center-brawn-bgp001-rubens-barrichello-australian-gp-2009-1-43-15209-p.jpg

It's just a bland, white car. Not only is it just nearly solid, but it's the most boring color that could ever be painted to a car. The only actual color splashed on there is the urine-yellow stripe. It's like a blank sheet of paper onto which someone made a quick streak with a yellow highlighter.

This was great.

Simply put, hideous. :yuck:

This was a great livery! It looks a heck of a lot better than what they ran in 2007... which still didn't really look all that bad.

I like the car but sorry, stained glass windows are better seen in churches. To make it worse, the blue has like a purplish hue in GT5, makes it look even more mismatched.

It's not pretty, but it's certainly not ugly.

I'll agree it was different, just... too different in my taste. If there was a halfway point between that and the R18's massive dullness I'd be on with that.

I'd like this one if it had more design to it, it comes off as too "in your face", in true Jäger style I guess.

It's just orange. I don't really think it's a livery.

GoDaddy liveries all look great! The name on the car is the only issue I see with it.

Congratulations Citroen for sticking some white bits and stickers on primer...

Looks great.

Sometimes a color change make a beautiful livery look wrong, the Aston Martin from this years Daytona 24 is a example of that.
I thought it looked great in both colors.

That looks good ^

As for a bad scheme...

It looks like their logo they ordered was too large so they just slapped it on the side of the car. Euhg.

The mountain dew livery looks better than the US Army one.

I'm very sorry, but the LMP1s were just boring (from the livery point of view)

And Porsche's 2015 Livery...
It's basicly a white car with 3 big letters: "PIP" for Porsche Intelligent Performance.
The livery is a mess.

There's nothing wrong with these really. They aren't pretty, but they aren't ugly either.

What's wrong with this? It doesn't look good, but it doesn't look bad...

Kyle Larson running this horror at Dover right now.

I don't mind this either. I actually kind of like it.

I thought it looked great in both colors.

The original Gulf version used at Le Mans had a great "daylight to dusk" theme that the dark blue and orange fitted perfectly for. While the Rolex 24 car with the Valero colors of light green and yellow just didn't look right with that certain livery.

Just my personal opinion on that Aston. 👍

Although the car itself is badass, the 1996 Porsche 911 GT1 livery was just a complete mess.

An overrated cartoon sponsoring a car for an overrated racing series? No. Just NO.

It just looks like a typical Vodafone livery to me, what's so politically incorrect about that?
That particular shade of red is commonly associated with the Holden Racing Team. The livery was introduced at a time when Holden effectively bought the team. They deliberately redirected funds from all of their smaller customer teams to pay for it, and a lot of the merchandise and paraphernalia produced at the time claimed credit for the previous year's championship, even though it had been won with a different manufacturer.

Love the restaurant, hate the livery.

I kinda dig the cheesiness of the livery, its kinda fits the era is from :P

You haven't seen anything until you watched the race it was in. BTW, that's just one.

Here, let me assist you in ridding of your eyesight by showing you the cars from the race itself:

I've reconsidered Kubica's 2016 livery. It's still completely hideous, but I think that the bigger issue is that it looks incomplete - like the team ran out of money halfway through the design. It reminds me of a Pozzi Racing Ferrari 308 model that my dad and I made when I was a kid that was supposed to look like this:

images

You had to add the transfer decals on by hand, and this one had lots of really fine lines that wrapped around the body of the car. Dad did most of the decals for all of the cars we built because it was really difficult, delicate work, but this Pozzi Ferrari was too much. We did what we could, but it was only ever half-finished. Kubica's livery reminds me of that model.

To be fair, the Vodafone red is pretty much the same anyway, and the the full red 2012 livery was the 3rd year T8 had run Holden's. They didn't even keep it the whole season, they had that chrome livery post-Bathurst (if I recall correctly).

Chrome livery was for Sydney only, as a send off for Vodafone. In my opinion, the full red was the best they ever ran.

I'm looking through this thread, and I actually don't mind some of these liveries. The gumball rally on the other hand brings out some pretty awful looking paints. I'm sorry if you like this, but what a way to ruin a Subaru.

Yeah, it's basically the "bring your supercar down, wrap it in terrible vinyl's, drive like an arse for a few hundred kilometres and objectify women for a weekend" weekend
I just remember seeing some coverage of it on television once where Kim Schmidt - the guy who created Megaupload - showed a pretty blatant disregard for the law or the safety of other drivers as he raced down a Spanish highway.

And if course, there was that accident back in 2007 that killed two people.
