Would you pay for Cars/Tracks in GT5p?

I can not believe that so many resist payable extra-content. Very old-fashioned thinking IMO.

That is the one great opportunity what PS3 and DSL gives us, and people are moaning against it. Wake up for today!

Only reason why this kind of things are coming now, is that is was not possible in earlier versions of GT's. I'm so glad if in future PD will release new things between GT-series, and I will be ready to pay about them ofcourse. It's not free for them to produce those.

I would like in future, that PD would not do so 'overbig' full versions like now, that it takes many years them to build it. Most of GT5 'boring-cars' I will probably never drive anyway, like I havent drive those in GT3 and GT4 either. Simple 'cheaper' starting-pack with basic GT-tracks and 150 cars would be enough, and after that hardcore-users could download their game to so big that they want.

So many would buy 'cheaper-Gran Turismo' rather than more expensive NFS or Burnout etc etc... and time between new Full Versions would not be so many years.

I assume many of you is shouting for courier-mode, and because that, want so big GT5 as possible. Come on... that is yesterday. Online and racing with other real persons is the thing. Arcade-mode should die away. It only delays whole process, and it's so boring to play alone.

I'm missing the option 'I would buy some cars and some tracks'. :) Personally I wouldn't mind paying for EXTRA content, but I sure as hell will not pay for content that should have been in there in the first place (e.g. developers holding back on initial content to get more cash). That said, I think the price/content ratio for GT5P is very good, so I wouldn't mind paying for extra content. Ofcourse I'd rather have them for free if given the choice. ;)

People need to think long and hard before they buy downloadable content, especially overpriced ones, I except that I too would probably buy some, (it does have its good points), as the more popular it becomes the more expensive it will become and it won't be long before game modes are taken out, online would be the first to go. They will say, we couldn't get it in to the game as it wasn't working properly, the demand was too great for the servers, but we will solve it and then a week later, we had to upgrade the server and as such the online service is now available for £££££. Also never state what you will pay, as then they will look at it and think, right he said he would pay £1.99 per track so lets charge £2.99 and they know you will still buy it, you know you would. It doesn't take much for a great idea in principal, to become a very bad idea.

I think our good friend, 'a free market economy' will take care of prices to stay in right level. Many years it's been very quiet in console racing-sims, but now it finally looks that many developers has noticed that there is big crowds of adult peoples who dont want to spend their free-time with killing-games or childish arcade racing games.

Sony knows that, if they charge too much per track, they will sell it non, but if they demand nominal price like 2$, it will sell millions. For game itself, it's always better to have full online, so it will increase sailing even more.

RacePro for Xbox might be our best friend in future... it really puts Sony and PD to think about their customer politics again. So many will buy that combo, if it turns out be so good as PC-versions what SimBin has done.

I aint brainwashed to being lojalty to any trademarks, I only want fair, good racing online, and I will buy RacePro immediately when I read trusty review about it being good sim. Bye bye Sony after that.

I dont care much about 'perfect graphics'. My priority list is:

1. Game-engine, realistic physics.
2. Online structure.
3. Racecars from WTCC to JGTC
4. Wheel supports
5. Graphics

Arcade mode I dont need at all.

I understand that it should work like that, but it rarely does. For instance England is supposed to be "a free country" but it is definitely not, but thats another story. As I have said in other threads, I am not against downloadable content, that adds extra to a game, just companies who abuse it.

i give an example..

try to imagine the release of gt5..
there's porsche ok.....
after 1 month they release the lamborghini pack with 9 lamborghini in it....
the cost is 39.90!!!!

would you pay such a cost for lamborghini?????

i would pay, and many people would pay for me...

and for me this will be the funny idea that PD will do...

As much as I love Lamborghini, I'm not paying $40 just to race them in a video game. I'd rather put that $40 towards owning one....

You thinking to extreme, say 6 months after GT5 comes out they realese a 15 car parck for 7 pounds with some 10 road cars and 5 race cars in it, thats is worth it but no company has ever charged 40 quid for DLC and never will.

Just to clear this: We are talking about PROLOGUE DLCs!

And my answer is NO. I did my fair share of beta testing to PD, now it's them that have to get their job done.

So, I'll wait the release of GT5.

Meanwhile, I have other games to play, and other games still to buy. If GT5 takes long to be released, I'm sure other racing games will nicely fill the gap.

I'm a patient fellow. :D

Why need to go unrealistic... 3.99$ would keep your post more seriously.

I would not buy it. I dont like Lambos. Bodydesign is quite ugly IMO.

I wouldn't pay for anything extra for prologue, seeing as all the cars and tracks currently created will be in gt5. I would however pay for addons to gt5 such as new model years, updated track layouts or specialty car and or track sets. I could easily see myself paying $10-$15 for the 1969 Trans-Am race series complete with cars, tracks and maybe a couple of new off-line races or the 1959 f1 season with cars and tracks, etc. This kind of pricing seems a little more reasonable considering what will be available in the initial release.

I would like that kind of continuum with GT5 too. It would be good to game, keeping it fresh many years, rather than release massive new part every 5 year.

Now when you mention about 'race-series' packages, that would really be good option... and ofcourse update packages every year to some other series too, like JGTC etc etc. Then PD would have something to do all the time, and they could have some incomes continuously.

I dont ever need GT6 to PS3. I'd more like to have small improves/features to GT5 for next many years, and tracks+cars packages between few months. That way GT5 would grow to huge game in the end, and it would not hurt to spend few dollars there, and few dollars there.

Your nuts... Would they release a car pack with 9 cars that is going to cost as much as the game.... Nope!

I would pay for it in GT5:P and later GT's. I think this is now the way PD will operate and keep GT5 fresh when it comes out. Has worked well with Forza and the car packs werent to expensive.

Yes such a constant update system would mean only one GT game per console but for sure the first thing some people will say when GT5 comes out will be "Whens GT6 coming out?"

I would pay for the Nissan GT500R race car. It looks savage!

i'm speaking about gt5 not prologue...

I would not buy anything for GT5P because I would assume it would be in the final game when it does come out. Also since we are basically a giant beta pool cars and tracks for Prologue should be free.

When GT5 proper comes out I might buy cars and tracks, with cars being more of a likely purchase. The one thing I will not do is buy DLC right after the release of the game or if they are trying to pass something off that should have been in the game in the first place. But ya, new models that have come out I probably won't have a problem buying as long as they are of interest to me. I probably would not buy things like concept cars or race cars though as I've never had much interest in them.

I will not buy any DLC if it was clearly destined for the retail release of the game and was just held back to sell a week later. If the DLC is released a fair bit later and is of a good quality then yeah I might consider it. I would probably be more inclined to buy cars rather than tracks but firstly I want GT5 to have a lot to begin with!

0.99 would be a very reasonable price for cars.

Robin.

I would buy some car and tracks.

I would be willing to pay for more obscure/interesting/important cars (classic Escort/Sierra Cosworth/Cortinas, especially in BTCC spec for example) that would otherwise be low priority for PD. I would definitely not be willing to pay for manufacturer's latest models and prototypes (i.e. Ferrari California, Nissan GT-R, GTbyCitroen, etc.). The manufacturers are getting a lot of bang for their marketing buck having their cars in the game (especially if PD gives them a generous PP rating), and the manufacturers should be the ones paying for them. I especially don't want to pay for a bunch of special edition Mustangs or GT-Rs.

I would be willing to pay for most new tracks, but I'd probably skip stuff like London.

One thing I worry about though is what will happen if one of the DLC cars has an advantage and is the clear front-runner for one of the online events (i.e. if you could only get the GT-R via DLC). Then I'd sort of be forced to buy it, or be uncompetitive. Both choices are pretty unappealing.

Yes, I want to pay for new cars and tracks.
i'm just tired of all that waiting.
If receiving money would be a boost for PD, why not...
I'm willing to give them money for their efforts.. But then they just need to come more regularly. And maybe if more money would pay, they can hire more people so that they're able to work faster.

I'm willing to pay for expansions, but I'm not going to give PD $600.

The game should come with a huge amount of content out of the box for regular price. Add ons should only be new car (Cars released after the game) or things PD didn't have time to work on pre-launch (I see tracks in this category).

I think $1 for 1 car is good if you just want one car, but they MUST release packs like 10 cars for $5 because I'd likely want to buy a lot, and I WILL NOT spend $600 like I said above.

$5 a track other than Nurburgring or maybe Sarthe is too much, and both of those tracks better be in GT5 at release. I'd pay $2 for a track, but again I expect packs if they add more than 5 tracks to the game in total.

To avoid accusations of holding back content that should be in the game when released, maybe all content that has already been in a GT game will be included with the game or made available as a free download.

Then they can charge for new stuff to the series and keep the game fresh with constant updates through the lifetime of the game.
