Interesting. I haven't seen anything or times, but I saw this on twitter, got a laugh out of it. Literally back to back.

Wow, it's really shaping up as a rally of attrition ... and this is just day one. Maybe we'll see all the WRC cars retire ...

They're showing a review of Day 2 on a local network at the moment. One of the day's stages was Urunga 1. I love the way the presenter completely mis-pronounces it: "Ooh-roong-ha". It's actually pronounced "Ewe-run-gah".

got a link?

No, because it was only just broadcast twenty minutes ago. Keep an eye on YouTube, maybe. It was just the presenter - Paul King - trying to get the name right, probably because it sounds Aboriginal. And it is; it's a Gumbaynggir word. But there's no fancy European rolling of vowels to it. Like Russian surnames, a lot of Aboriginal words are pronounced the way they're written, because Aboriginal languages do not contain a written component. When Europeans settled here, they transcribed Aboriginal words phonetically.

not too worry...

We've got live coverage here from 2pm local time. However, I wonder how much of the rallying we'll actually see. Hate to say it but I'm shuddering at the thought of 3 hours of local commentary...

I'd like to see Jari shove the team orders but being the sweeper today, Hirvonen looks the likely but would dearly like to see Petter have a win :)

Between mistakes and their numerous equipment failures, doesn't surprise me.

I know I haven't been a big Block fan in WRC, but after this interview, I kind of feel he has knowingly thrown himself into the lions den, an he accepts that so hats off to him:

I really enjoyed the Loeb vid of his driving (before he rolled - didnt enjoy that). He is such a joy to watch drive. 7 consecutive titles (8th most likely on the way, and could have been 1 more if Citroen hadnt ordered him to back off in the Welsh WRC when Solberg became champ), I really wish he were mentioned in the same breath as Schumi and Rossi more often in motorsport.

Also, 👎 👎 to the Aussie media for giving next to no coverage to WRC Australia!

There was a one-hour summary of Day 2 at 11pm last night. I imagine there would have been one on Friday night as well. And they have three hours of coverage this afternoon from 2pm.

Count yourselves lucky guys, in the states we have zero coverage until 2 weeks after the event, Discovery channel only air it here, so we rely on YouTube and forums...

Same kind of thing in the UK, its just on ESPN (I'm not gonna pay lol) so I watch the live timing on the WRC site, then hope somebody uploads the highlights on youtube, then in the weeks after keep an eye on the official wrc youtube channel because they put full onboard stages on from each rally.

True mate, usually its the half hour daily we get. Don't get me wrong, I'm enjoying the interviews, especially the frankness from Ken Block. I'm just not a fan of the Aussie commentary team...
The 3 hour show today I hope is better than the last time WRC was here. Sweet bugger all as far as seeing cars running and plenty of useless commentary.

EDIT: Oh damn, I'd have thought something like SPEED would have some coverage... I'll stop my rant now!! :)

Well, the three-hour show is on. They've got John Smailes dumbing it down (I thought he was dead) and the hosts explaining who Ken Block is ...

I would dearly love John Smails to just go away and stay away...

I'm hoping 10/OneHD sort their sound out soon. Reckon I've got time now to watch gymkhana 4 before they show any actual rallying ;)

We might not get full in-depth coverage but at least we get something. I think what we get is pretty decent and I don't think it's fair to expect anymore, WRC simply doesn't have a huge following here. I'm very thankful for the motorsport (F1, MotoGP, NASCAR, Grand AM and BTCC keeps me very happy) coverage Ten/One deliver us. 👍
