What? Why would PD put WRC in GT5? I mean, they don't race each other directly, they just go out and drive by themselves. And WRC drivers suck, only crappy drivers need directions from someone! This is SO STUPID, I'M BUYING AN XBOX AND GETTING FORZA 3!!!

;)

Listen hear you tool, who do you think you are coming in here and saying crap like that?! If I was a moderator I would ban you for crap like that. Rally drivers are the most skilled in the world. How would you like to drive 100 miles an hour on a sheet of ice coming up to a hair pin? I could keep going on and saying more and more, but if you're just going to be ignorant of these facts then there's no speaking with you, and I'll have to take my leave of you.

Hmmm, I'm noticing the "Rally Toscana" (Rally of Tuscany) in those screenshots ... at first I thought it was just Citta di Aria, but Assisi is in Umbria, the next provence over. It could well be that Citta di Aria is a stage in the Rally of Tuscany, but I've never known PD to make an error in goegraphy like that.

If you notice there, in the subaru picture it has the Rally Japan logo on it. There's a little problem with that, I'm just going to blow my horn and toss in my two cents, one is that Rally Japan is all forest (like Finland) and the second is that I don't believe they have a Rally Japan in 2009.

It was a joke.

If you read the NASCAR thread it would make more sense.

;)

I dont think the WRC is licensed at all otherwise we would see the WRC logos stamped everywhere in the rally scenes pics and trailer. Also pay attention that the Subaru is not in the WRC anymore and that currently P.Solberg drives a private Citroen in WRC.Im also pretty sure we would be getting just the rally manufacturing cars and PD made rally circuits.

It could be from 2008. Some people more well-versed than I have claimed that some of the CoTs from NASCAR are 2008 liveries.

That's right... we should have expected PD to get the WRC into GT, right? (sarcasm) For those who say that rally racing in Gran Turismo is weak, this may be the saving grace. To what extent can we enjoy this style of action remains to be seen. We may have to wait until either the Leipzig (a Sister City of Houston) game show or the Tokyo Game Show for more specifics. My most recent blog entry (as of the date of this post) talks about my ideas regarding acquistion of the WRC for GT5. For the most part, epic win for PD.

We still need to learn more about what PD has planned for rally racing in this game. We may find out these answers and more at future game shows this year or next year.

When did Peter get the STI back? I thought Subie was outta the WRC. Still though, it's awesome to see the WRC in GT5. Hopefully we get all the courses (full length), cars and drivers. 👍

Listen hear you tool...
Some people just don't speak smiley. ;)

Let this be a lesson to you, kids. Smileys mean "It's a joke."

Anyway, back on course, I'm hoping that the WRC license means some exciting things for rallying in GT5 - almost typed "Prologue!" I have great expectations like many of you that GT5 is going to be the definitive PS3 racer for some time to come.

with world rally being my favorite sport in the whole world.

this is just awesome and would like to be a great thing to play right now.

I'm glad as it shows of the first interior of a race car (a closed one, not like the f2007), and it looks good. I was worried about this before, but not anymore.

Here's hoping the rallying physics are better than GT4. My Uncle does a bit of rallying, and he reckons there's not enough grip on the rallying on GT4. And I concur, mainly it was limitations in the system, but your tyres don#t physically dig into the surface like in the real world. They just ride over it like it's a smooth but extremeley slippy road. This is something RBR did perfectly, and PD really needs to aim to get the rallying on par with RBR.

@Ferrari Tifoso: All the cars are from the 2008 Season, in which Petter Solberg and Chris Atkinson drove the new hatch for the first time. It was also still the pre-faclift Focus WRC.

Just for fun, they should have shown a picture of Marcus Gronholm with his cold stare driving a rally course. I know Gronholm is no longer a full-time rally racer, but the in-car views of him are classic to me!

By far the most terrifying thing about the prospect of rally racing being taken more seriously in GT5 is whether it will handle well (like RBR) or atrociously (like CMR).

the town where the Focus is starting looks like San Gimignano

I think all rally fans need to be refreshed on amar's 3rd tale... it says someting about the skypaths not being solid and not being known for the first time. Relates strictly to rally, point to point, right?

He also says the game will be offered in several forms, I persnally think this mean a regular GT5 and then GT5 with NASCAR and WRC bcause they have to charge more for these series. anybody agree?

I hope it will be point to point. Also if I'm understanding Amar's tale maybe the rally track will be all new. I hope none of the rally tracks from gt4 return. Pikes Pike is a must and I sure it will be in GT5.

It's nice to see the WRC licences being used again! :D

From what I remember Evolution Studios used to make the WRC games, who are owned by Sony.
Perhaps that it why the shifting of the game to PD was kept so quiet, because it wasn't actually sold like the F1 licence was. 💡

I hope that do have a range of WRC cars, and perhaps mock seasons with cars from the era you are driving would be nice!

Thoughts?

The area aspect would be a great addtion and a range of wrc cars. Mock seasons would be down right bad, bad in a good way.

To make the WRC part of the game as good as possible, PD should as many others here say learn from RBR.
The physics for that game were outstanding, and are very accurate to reality.
In the previous GT games, the cars have felt too heavy and with a lack of grip on the loose, so hopefully they can cure this.
