Well, at the moment it's not too bad. It's not really too much pain, it just feels like someone is pressing down there constantly and it's driving me insane. That said, it does hurt now when I bite down, and it's feeling swollen.

So I don't know, hopefully like you say it just hurts while it's coming out of the gum then it will just sit and be awesome. If not, I'll guess I'll have to live with the pain, I can't risk missing a week of WRS :sly:

In fact you'll have more time for the WRS 💡 , cause the op. is like 1 hour, it's a morning (few hours), that's all. And after that you can only like eat soft stuff, like ice-cream, yoghurt etc. and stay at home and play WRS !

Yip, some people have no problem ... while others do, luck of the draw I guess ... but if they come out not perfectly upright, they're going to squash you other teeth into each other

Good luck buddy, it's not that bad

At least you guys get completely knocked out, before tooth removal takes place.

My two bottom ones were growing sideways. The left one was almost horizontal and growing forward, pushing against the molar in front of it.

I had them removed two Summers ago.

With only local anesthesia - in other words I was WIDE AWAKE for the whole entire time. I could hear my jaw making crackling sounds, while my beloved dentist was digging into my gums and pulling and pushing.

Oh, and by the way, the local anesthesia is applied with a siringe, with the needle directly inserted into the tooth nerves.

And you guys are afraid to have all this done, while you are completely asleep and when, after you wake up, you don't even remember you had it done?

Pllleeease... :D

The Wizard.

Amen, to that!

I had a filled molar crack in half about 4 years back, (probably shouldn't have been eating what I was eating at the time- pork scratchings) and the dentist had to use 4 syringes of novacaine to numb it. And then he had 5 goes at extracting it, during which it continued to crumble!

On the 5th go, he got it out, I was awake during the whole time, and could hear everything!

Horrible experience!

Be thank-full for being knocked out!
(bloody NHS dentists)

haha, I was not afraid, I quite like being knocked out with that stuff haha. I had my 4 removed while I was totally out, so it was a breeze ...

And that's what's happening to me 👍. Went to the dentist's today, she took a 10 second look and said "You need to get all 4 of them surgically removed". She said she could do them with a local, but it would take over 2 hrs, hurt like all hell, and risk pinching a nerve that would make my mouth numb forever.

The good news is, aparently you need at least a week off after the surgery. WRS TIME! :dopey:

A few days ago - Monday - I interviewed for a programming position at a small company here in Portland. It was with the human resources lady and two programmers, who proceeded to ask me a series of programming questions ... most of which I snotted. Of course :P

They obviously liked what happened, because they called me back the next day for interview #2, this time with HR and the owner of the business. I impressed them so much, that part way through the interview the boss ... who described herself as having a "**** eating grin" (she liked me that much) asked me to apply for a Project Managers position instead.

I told them that was their call, wherever they best felt my talents lay, and agreed to complete a small written discussion last night outlining a Project Managers role.

So this must have gone over okay, but I just got a call back ... but here's where I now beging to wonder about the wisdom of shifting from one application to another.

They have confirmed that they want me to apply as a Project Manager, and after sending them my 4 hour dissertation on what a Project Manager is last night I guess that this is a vote of confidence. I mean, why ask me to step up a notch if they didn't like what they saw?

So the call today outlined the fact that they'll be sending me *ANOTHER* written test to be completed over the course of next week: It's an entire project management scope of development for a mock client.

*AND* there will be another job interview on Saturday 11th.

That will be 2 sets of written documents and 3 job interviews, and because I'll still be interviewing alongside other candidates, there's no guarantee here that I'll end up with nothing.

They like me so much, I could walk into the programmers job right now, so this Project Manager thing, aside from being a lot more work to even present for the interview, suddenly becomes more of a shot in the dark.

I don't know whether to be happy with their invitation to interview for this position, or wary at the prospect of getting no job form a company that is obviously impressed with me. Shifting gears like this from one application to another is not my style.

Opinions? Is this sounding good, or bad? Am I getting greedy and likely to end up with nothing?

I'd suspect the company would like the fact you were happy to step up positions and were a "go-getter" rather than settling for a job that you were over-qualified for. The fact you have to go through another set of interviews doesn't mean too much, I'd guess they have a responsibility to advertide and interview for the position you're going for, my job had to do that despite the fact they already knew I was getting the position, it was just a matter of jumping through the right hoops. In your new interview you'll have the opportunity to name drop and discuss your situation and I'm sure it'll go down well 👍

Nat,
It sounds to me like the owner has the 'hots' for you, and the extra written stuff/interview is really to see the size of your 'sphericals' and to see how 'hungry' you are!

Go for it!

At the very worst it will be an experience, at the best you get a bloody good job with all the bells and whistles!

Good points MrW. I didn't even think of the "go getter" angle ... I like that! You're also right about the interview process and because yesterday's went so well, I am not too worried about that aspect ... I think it can be made or broken on the presentation now. I think I'm more worried about that than anything else!

And here we have the perfect example of how an articulate and sensible Aussie, and an articulate and sensible Scouser differ!

Same sentiment, same message, lots fewer words!

Had an interesting evening.

My parents invited me round for dinner tonight and so I went along. While my dad was getting stuff for dinner I thought I'd check out how he was going with GT4. He got it for Christmas and I hadn't seen his progress since he got it. So I had a look through some of his achievements. He had finished mission 23 which I was impressed with, he had a 7:05 lap around the ring in the Mercedes from S16 and he's generally not doing too bad.

Anyway he gets home and shows me some of the things he's struggling with. The first is from the professional hall, the very last race. The best car in his garage so far is a Mercedes CLK GTR, about 1000kw and the best he'd done so far was a 4th. So he jumps into the race and shows me why he's struggling. Gotta say the car has really crappy brakes and your brake point is like 2 miles before you'd think so that was already tough work but it also understeered terribly and I could see why dad was struggling.

So I promptly gave him a whirlwind tour of the settings window and put on some settings to help out a bit and then I jumped in the race to show him. Within 2 laps I was in first and I had put down some seriously awesome drifts and corners and I saw my old man's eyes light up.

It was really neat to see how my skills had improved and to also show dad a few things, he's normally the one teaching me and it was good for the roles to be reversed for a change (albeit for a computer game!)

My old man recently purchased an AC Cobra and one of the main reasons he got GT was simply to race the Cobra around...he cracks me up. I'm gonna take over some of holl01's replays to show him tomorrow, if he reckons I was good, that ought to blow his mind

That must be awesome Mr. W ... I can't imagine playing with my dad, but when I see Brad (my b/f) putting in times I didn't expect, it always fills me with a levle of pride!!!

Wow Weary! Wish my dad was into GT. :(
Glad to see you've got that relationship going. 👍
Same for you Koly. 👍

As for me, the best I've managed to do is entertain the old man with Resident Evil 4.

Right after Hurricane Katrina hit the upstairs of my house was about 95 degrees (since the AC was destroyed by a fallen tree).

So I moved all my stuff down stairs (had to get my GT and RE fix).

I played some GT and it was as if nothing was going on, anyone walking by just walked on by.
However, when I put in RE4 (on the gamecube), my mom would avoid the room (scared her) and my dad would sit there watching me play through the mercenaries missions.
He loved it!
I know he wanted to play but wouldn't try since he's only got the gaming skills for online hearts (the card game).

Oddly though, he would just sit there and watch perfectly content and really paying attention. As chessy as it sounds, I was really happy to have it happening. He's my step-father and I don't get to "bond" with him too much so having him sit around with me while I played RE was awesome.

He really loved it too, the graphics are amazing and the game play is good enough that I think he viewed it like a horror movie more than anything else.
It was some good fun. 👍
I got to play the game and achieve my in-game goals while he got to watch and enjoy something other than the same old news cast (since the cable was out from the hurricane).

All in all I would say it was a real blast.

Unfortunately it was a one week thing.
once the GC went back upstairs we never had a time like that again. :(

Oh well. :indiff:
I'm going to get some "bonding" time this weekend when I go to buy a car.
That's a story for the "WRS'ers and their rides" thread though. :sly:

Ah man. How long have I been unconscience? :ouch:

I know I've been gone for a while. I've been going through a really tough time lately. Things are still far from normal but I feel like I need some good ole' WRS competition. I'll join the races next week.

Woohoo! Just ordered a DFP over the weekend. Hopefully it'll come tomorrow or Wednesday in time for the next race. I just hope they're as good as people say. Also waiting for a guy to get back to me about a 2005 WRX STi seat he's got for sale. Then all i need to do is find a suitably sized table and i'm good to go. Shame i'll probably suck for a good few weeks, maybe even months :scared: before i get the hang of it. So just thought i'd let you know you can expect piss poor times from me for the foreseeable future.

ok, i just had to share my frustration here...

since december i´ve had inumerous excuses for not playing GT. here´s the deal:

i work in a university, on a radio. lets call it city A. my parents and my real home is in city B, 300km away from city A. so, i rent an apartment to live in city A.

problem is, city A is a beautiful beach, lots of tourists and students... well its all great and stuff, but the renting system here its kind of akward... since my father lost dozens of opportunities to buy an apartment here in city A, every year (first during college, now working) i have to rent a different apartment.

but, they are only avaliable in march, the month the classes begin... while i was a student, it wasn´t a problem, because i went home to spend december, january and february in city B.

but now, working, i have to stay here most of the year... i only had 20 days of vacation this season... full time apartaments are way too expensive, because during the summer season, they work on a daily system for rentals. so my place last year, which i rented for 500k a month, is rented at 100k A DAY!!!

so, with all that been said, i have to wait every year until march, after carnival to get to my place (this time i´ll rent the one i was last year, it was good:dopey: )

and what does that have to do with GT???

well, lets put it this way, right now, i´m homeless 👎

my rental expired on december 15, but my vacation only started a few days later, so in that period, i stayed over a friends house.

no GT for me in those days (it was the week with the zonda)

then i get to city B. and i stayed there until the end of my vacation... january 15 i had to get back to work, but if you guys remember, my apartment is only avaliable in march, so...:grumpy:

since then i moved 4 times, packing my things from one place to another... my dad has some firends in city A, so i´m staying in the house of one of his friends...

with all that drama, my flat screen TV is in city B, my directv is also there, my PC, my CD´s, all stuff... the only thing i´m carrying over is the basics, things i got to have to survive, like clothes, toothbrush, cellphone, and of course, my PS2 with GT4 in it:D :dopey:

whenever i get the chance, i play, but sometimes i´m without a TV, or the person that owns the place i´m in, is using the TV. this sucks.:yuck:

i want to play, have spare time, but i don´t have a TV:grumpy:

also, at work i´m only here because i have a 8 hour shift (is that the word?) everyday... but there´s nothing to do.

so with basically nothing to do at work or at home, i still can´t play GT:banghead: i guess i just have to wait until march to settle my life... until there i try to play when TV is free, not on 🤬 shows that old people like to see, like soap operas:mad:

sorry for the rant, since i have nothing to do right now, i just wanted to share my frustration with someone... but i´ll be back full time in march:tup:

Did you check the prices of small LCD TV sets ? You can find 7" or 10" flat screens that you could carry along with you so that you can play when no other TV is available.

oh yes, technology:)

the flat screen TV i bought is a regular one, cost me 690k here... 21 inch, but its not LCD or HDTV...

in this subject, Brazil sucks:tdown:

the smallest LCD i found was a 14 inch sony, with cost "only" 2000k. just for the record, i earn 800k a month, so no way for me... a regular pocket TV would cost me 350 or 400k, so still too expensive... but thanks for the solution... one day i will be playing GT in a LCD TV with a DFP... i just have to wait until that becomes old, and therefore there´s a pice drop that enables me to buy it:tup:

...or a used one on e-bay.

i got curious, so i went to check: found a model that i loved:

TRINITY PORTABLE 7 IN LCD COLOR TV
82,21 U$

you guys in europe, australia or north america are lucky... its very affordable... here, it would be 200K after changing for the local money... but with shipping would cost a lot...

and one little problem: i don´t have a credit card!:dunce: (i´m feeling a little poor right now:crazy: )

but nice idea cyril, at least now looking at those things on ebay i found something to do this morning:dopey:

Don't look for too long, you might get an addiction!

There was a story a couple of weeks back on the news about some girl getting addicted to eBay, so much that everything she left the computer she thought someone would outbid her and had panic attacks.

Took a selection of replays over to my Dad's place today to show him how Dan the man drives. I took all the missions, a few select license tests and a few random replays including Dan's new Nurburgring lap of 4'44.469  Needless to say my old man was stunned!

It was ironic cos when I got there he was already playing and he was battling S14 (Peugeot around Chamonix) and it just so happened that I brought Dan's replay of that over...so we sat and watched a few. I started with one of Dan going round Citta di Aria with the Minolta and the first thing Dad said was "play it at normal speed"...... ummm......I am ?!? :D

We then went through a few more and Dad was pretty silent, then when we watched the Nurb lap he was just in awe.....Dan you are on the EDGE in that lap, near the end around T8 - T9 there are some really hairy moments that make it incredible you still held the lap together...unbelievable! Can't wait to see you tame the F1.

Anyway just thought I'd post that, I'm bored :D While I was there I got my SingStar game save cos my high score was achieved while battling my sis, here's a screen shot for any SingStar fans out there:

copyofnew18wd.jpg

My sister put my name in and called me cobble for some reason :) But I'm happy with the score, I reckon a Div 1 SingStar effort :sly:

And lastly in my random post, I was watching the Nurb lap of the RUF that ROB 256R posted last week (can be downloaded here) and I took note of where all the split times would be. I was thinking of having a crack at beating his lap in a car with the same settings, to at least see how hard he was driving, here are his splits (in brackets are Dan's splits from his Nurb lap):

T1: 0'47.000 (0'30.xxx)
T2: 1'27.000 (0'52.xxx)
T3: 2'00.000 (1'12.xxx)
T4: 3'03.000 (1'46.xxx)
T5: 3'50.000 (2'11.xxx)
T6: 4'21.000 (2'28.xxx)
T7: 5'19.000 (3'03.xxx)
T8: 6'12.000 (3'31.xxx)
T9: 6'38.000 (3'45.xxx)
T10: 7'31.000 (4'12.xxx)
T11: 7'53.000 (4'28.xxx)
FIN: 8'21.000 (4'44.469)

Any ideas how I should set up the Yellowbird to do a similar lap???

Anyway that's my brain emptied of it's random content :)

The Minolta goes so fast in the hands of the aliens that it does seem like the replay is playing at 3x speed, indeed :D

Just wondering guys, how many PS2 games do you guys own? How many do you play? Unoffical pole!

Just wondering guys, how many PS2 games do you guys own? How many do you play? Unoffical pole!

I haven't touched my ps2 for like 2 or 3 months, I'm addicted to Return to Castle Wolfenstein...old game but I love it :)

I'll start with the ps2 again when my copy of Winning Eleven 9 arrives, now that will be hours and hours of gameplay :sly:

Games I own on the ps2:
Gran Turismo 3 and 4
Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3
Smackdown vs Raw 2006 and Here Comes the Pain
Tony Hawk Pro Skater 4
Need for Speed Underground
Fifa Football 2004 and 2005
Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith
Soul Reaver 2

Games I play on my PS2:
Ace Combat 5 (though 4 had better music and story, the combat isn't nearly as intense!)
Final Fantasy VII
MGS 3
GT4
Soul Calibur 2
VF4:Evolution (Tekken's better but I lost it)
MechWarrior 2: Arcade Combat Edition
And though not games, I watch various DVDs, too. Last one was Reservoir Dogs and I know this because it was next to the TV yesterday. lol I'm lazy.

I used to own a lot of games but I loan them out a lot so I'm not sure which ones I've sold and which ones are just lent out.

Good poll, by the way.
