WTCC | World Touring Car Championship | Super 2000 regs

Can only get 1.09s what other cars are up for grabs?

Its remains quite heavy after tuning but the Infiniti G35 can be tuned up to similar speeds, I've done 1.08s and 2.02s in it at GVE and Monza but I'm not sure whether it will go much faster as it is heavier than the other cars i've tried.

I can't remember the specs I used, I will look later and get back to you with them. I seem to recall being faster with the low rpm turbo and removing some other tuning parts compared to using an NA tune.

Just tried this and Ive just run a 2.00.742 at Monza, MUCH quicker than my previous best so thanks :). 👍

Managed a 1.07.8 (GVE) and 2.00.4 (Monza) with the 135i. The BMW has pace over one lap, but you really have to push hard to achieve it. It's not really sustainable over race distance.

Look at any of these series for ideas:

World Touring Car Championship
European Touring Car Championship
European Touring Car Cup
British Touring Car Championship
Scandinavian Touring Car Championship
Hong Kong Touring Car Championship
Asian Touring Car Series
China Touring Car Championship

I'm thinking of joining this with my friend, but two questions.
1) Can 2 teams run the same car?
2) What day of the week are you racing?

Not decided what car yet.
But intrested in the bmw touring car if it's available?
+ What's a competitive time around GVE? looking for a benchmark to compare against
Cheers :)

Dates are not yet decided

No, 1 car, 2 people for more variety, but I can tell you that there are many more hidden gems in the "standard" car class.

BMW tc not allowed to are they?

yes you are, but if it goes:
1140KG for normal, then 1155KG for 320 TC
1155KG for normal, then 1170KG for 320 TC
1170KG for normal, then 1185KG for 320 TC

Would you and johnboy like to change cars? have a look at the alfa's, golf's and the other bmw's for inspiration.

I did try the 135i but didn't like it will speak to johnboy tmw and see what he suggests

So many Touring Car Series have spawned on GTP since I created mine :D.

1st, Applaud you for not trying to copy me 👍

2nd, Toyota Altezza would require penalties otherwise it slaughters all.

3rd, Mazda is very quick, Honda is fast but kills tyres.

Good luck with this, oh and a final fun note... Ironically my Series will also be having Road Cars in future. Best of luck with this.

Does anyone want minimum weight change?
1170?

I would go with 1170kg. Some cars (Atenza, Focus) weigh over 1200kg with all weight reductions, so it would help make things a little more balanced. I reckon that the Civic & Integra would run away a little with 1155kg because they are among the very few which can be made light enough to meet the minimum weight.

After doing some testing and to create another team for series, I was wondering if I could change to the Integra R ('04) with Si?

GVE ~ 1:00+
Monza ~ 2:00+

Well,
1140 ~ real WTCC min. weight
1155 ~ good "in between" weight IMO
1170 ~ real HTCC min. weight

I knew people will ask for this car sooner or later...

Sorry, I know I have changed my car once already so if you intended to use it then I will stick with the Atenza....providing some changes to weight are made so it can be more competitive as after speaking with Si, he was getting the 1-2 seconds quicker in the Integra as opposed to the Mazda. So as no one else had confirmed it, I didnt know whether I would be able to choose it, but like I say I don't want to steal it away for someone, especially as I have already changed my car once.

No, not that I really wanted it, but the Integra is one of the few cars that have extremely high revs, and can be tuned to fit the regs perfectly. And it has never been considered a touring car due to it having 2 doors as opposed to 4/5 doors. It has also been a bit "overpowered" in other series like the BTCC one for example.

I will be testing this car over the weekend to deem if its overpowered with these regs. You and Si should look over other car choices in case its deemed OP.

If you want, I can gift you my BMW 330i tuned to race specs if you want:

Ok, well I'll keep both my Integra and Atenza for the time being and if you deem the Integra overpowered then I'll switch back to my Atenza I think as it seems to run competitive times with most of the cars within the specs as it is easy to drive consistently, but I will look for other cars as well incase.

In which case, it would also exclude the Focus ST, Volvo C30, Civic Type R hatchback amongst others, all of which are 3 door only on GT5.

The Civic Type R saloon is as easily tuned to the regs and is just as quick. I have more or less matched lap times with it. I didn't choose it because I don't like the styling.

If you decide to take out the Integra, I'll stick either with Matt and take the Atenza, or re-investigate the 135i

However, have you considered a 'gentlemans agreement' for the Integra via a weight penalty? This was the method used in the dmax btcc. Both Matt and I are looking for a close racing series, and would happily run a higher weight in order to balance things up.

Having said that, this is why I suggested the 1170kg weight, as it helps even things up. We could run 1200kg limit, which brings us closer to the heavier cars (eg. the Atenza at 1216kg), and should make it closer. It's purely the weight limit which is giving a slight advantage, straight line speed is pretty even between all the cars I tested.

Somebody, I appreciate this is your series, and that you call the shots, but I am interested in helping you make it as level and exciting as possible. Incidentally, how will you enforce the 300hp limit? You can set the power limit at 295 or 305 online, not 300.

Edit - times for Monza (online). All set using 300hp/ 1170kg.

Integra R - 1.59.9 (i think I cut a chicane a little too much)
Atenza - 2.00.4
Focus - 2.00.4

Here are my times from yesterday at GVE (online) using same rules

Integra R - 1.08.1
Civic R (saloon) 1.08.0
Atenza - 1.08.3
Focus 1.08.5

305 it is then. I just chose 300 because the old NA S2000 cars were 280~ and the new turbo S2000 cars were 320~

EDIT: weight in OP is updated.

Minimum weight for road cars 260 HP and under: 1140 KG
Minimum weight for road cars 261 HP and over: 1170 KG
Minimum weight for BMW 320i Touring Car: 1190 KG
Minimum weight for Honda Integra Type R DC5 04': 1200 KG

Just thought of something else. Matt was struggling with pace in the Atenza, and I suggested fitting the low rpm turbo and removing some other tuning parts to stay within the power limit. He was instantly much quicker.

I will do some testing, but the Integra could be slowed down by running it in an NA configuration?

integra with NA config can be tuned to 320 HP, 305 HP is no biggie.

BUT, I'm thinking of banning all turbos kits for cars that can reach 305~ in NA config, simply because the turbo can kick in @its RPM range and the person will just speed away. In other words, cars like alfa 147 06' and crz are allowed to use it, because with turbo they just fit in with 300 HP.

no, but tuned to 300bhp, the Atenza was much faster with the low rpm turbo than without. It required less intervention with the power limiter too.I'm wondering if the same would be the case with the Integra?

Also, with the 305hp limit, could the 135i be fitted with the sports exhaust?
