WTF moments in GT4!

I was doing the classic races in a Chevelle SS (I think) and I look behind me and the Ginetta G4 just goes off road and crashes straight into the wall right after the first hairpin.

Most american supercars (I'm looking at you Cien) have great trouble at long sweeping corners. At Apricot Hill I couldn't for the life of mine close the gap between the leading CTR.

When racing at Suzuka, the best place to catch up the AI, is at the second Degner corner. For some reason, they always fishtail through the corner, go off the track a bit and as a result, you could catch them at the hairpin.

So, I tuned the ZZII for a steering radius test, utillizing the motorland test track as my benchmark, basically finetuning for over-understeer. After all settings checked and double checked, I set off to the familly-cup, I prefer testing a car with others on the track. Basically enabling me to assess the manuverabillity of the car.

I'm off and running, a quick ten-lap test should do the trick. Thinking, I'll be able to check-out the replay once I'm finished. Lo 'n behold, when I go to check out the replay, which wasn't anything even remotely close to what happened during the test, the replay shows the car doing one lap, and on it's return to the outer loop swerved into the grass and smacked head-first into the retaining wall. At which time it is stuck there mimicking all my turning inputs for the following nine laps that I did.

This was my first time encountering a replay, that entirely botched the original run. I sat there dying with laughter the entire time, saying to myself, "wow". lol

The same happened to me. Once I drove a car at the Motegi Superspeedway, whose name I've forgotten. I was wall-riding in all of the corners. When I decided to watch the replay, I almost wet myself laughing. Apparently, according to the game, I went around in circles for the whole time. Maybe it was because I activated a "super turbo boost" code on my Action Replay MAX disc.

^... At first I thought it was something I did, maybe hit a button while checking the replay, but after stopping it and restarting it atleast three times, just to ensure it wasn't me. That thing looked so retarded, I darn near fellout. I couldn't breathe afterwards. lol

I'm doing Mission 23? (GT-R), and by now, I've spent over an hour doing this, because I forgot how to do it. So I'm slipstreaming and passing all the four GT-R's, and all of a sudden I feel a huge force on my wheel, and before I knew it, I was on the barrier, spinning front to back for about 30 seconds:scared:
I watched the replay, and I got bumped from behind like a criminal on the loose, and shot too far to imagine.
The funniest part was my DFP freaking out:tup:

I always found the Italian racing series under the European Hall to be hilarious. Particularly the race at Autumn Ring - everyone falls off the circuit on the first lap, every time. Maybe Polyphony modelled the AI on Italian drivers for the Italian races ...

Indeed. This also happens in the French championship at La Sarthe. It's hilarious to watch the replays and see all those cars strewn across the sand pits.

Yup! I think the race at Infineon is a riot, too.:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

my wtf moment is when i was in the europe car classics 25 laps of the ring and i was in a 1965 camaro. i had lapped this guy twice and the third time i lapped him he spun and i never touched him lol

So true, a friend of mine studied in Italy and tells me they are as reckless as Greeks. Immortal mediterranean spirit!

^and add to it there isnt one in gt4 even if it were real. My wtf moment is I was playing with the blue Daimler carriage and was try to climb a slight hill and could make it up the hill and started rolling backwards (I know Im lame) and as I reached the bottom of the hill I hit the brakes and didnt have much effect so I hit the e-brake 'cause I figured if Im gonna wreck I might as well make it look like i tried to stop. Well, I stopped and very abrubtly, actually enough so that the front wheels lifted about three feet off the ground.

I just had another WTF moment.. I was driving around Trial Mountain, very quickly, and on the straight, I picked up enough air to not be able to put the brakes on for the hair-pin at the end. I ended up going into the corner much faster then I wanted too, and the front of my car flipped up.

Much like what I did in GT5 when I did a triple barrel roll back-flip in the Lamborghini LP640 Chome Line.

My latest WTF moment was actually pretty embarassing, even though I was the only one who witnessed it. :embarrassed:

Whenever I'm testing a new car, I have a habit of letting Bob drive it around at x3 speed first, just to give him some Machine and Track points, then I'll take over. This gives me something to judge my driving by, but I also simply like destroying his lap time! So he's driving some slow car around Motorland...I think it's a Nissan Cube. By the time I got back to stop Bob, he had something like 48 laps done.

Which is not a problem. I'm always able to kill Bob within a lap or 2. But (I swear) I start doing laps around Motorland and I cannot beat his time!!! I'm up to 10, 11, 12 laps and I'm still like a half-second behind every time, even if I get a good lead early on! WTF? :ouch:

I finally got past his time, by a measly .2xx of a second! Something like that! :ill: It was pretty frightening.

Haha, that's funny. But could you explain to me who "Bob" is?

WTF = AI and any Subaru model, on any track. Darn road hogs. Felt like pulling them over and giving a ticket for reckless endangerment.

Parnelli, I am so fed up with the AI driving Subarus. Prime example though is PD Family Cup races.

Tune any average street car and take it to that event, just to trail that AI, and be prepared to repeat "WTF is wrong with this AI", the entire time.

Firstly, driving like a drunk, no driving line whatsoever, then lobs corners like a big mack truck.

The first race on Motegi is a riot, though. He generally starts in fourth place, it's a rolling start as you know, and keep your eyes peeled as you accelerate out of the first sweeping U. As he gets up to the second sweeping U, he clips the slower car ahead, and while every other car is making a left, he is galavanting off the track to right, all over the sandpit.

After a few seconds getting his bearings again, oh gosh, here he comes bulldozing everything in his path, as if he is trying to make up for losing his spot in the lineup.

Now I always try to stay behind of that Mad AI, until the last lap. If I can, I'll get ahead and move-out.

For a REAL WTF moment, attempt ANY kind of over-jump pass; You will bounce back in the air very abruptly!

It happened to me at the Polyphony Cup Seattle race in a RX-7 when I had a lead on the Ford GT and tried to show off by lapping with an over-jump to a Miata, I could swear I was like a meter higher than the Miata and going much faster. My car bounced backwards in the air. The Miata bounced in the other direction, very fast. I lost the race because of that.:grumpy:

Lol I did that too..

snip replay comment

This glitch is actually really common, I 1st encountered it in NFS3...but it was very common in ps1 days esp with EA racers, I also have encountered it in Driver 2 and 3 but ya its not rare, I have no seen it since Driver 3 thankfully.

DkLion3s is right about Subarus, but there like that in every race. Also not sure if this counts, but I was doing the 24 hour endurance at the ring with a Mercedes Benz 9 C Sauber, overkill I know. I am 8 hours into the race when my mom says to shovel the snow, so I pit and set it to B-spec. About an hour later I finished, made a hot chocolate and walked into my room, waited 20 minutes or so untill it would have been the 10 hours into the race. I put on the television to check sports scores then switch to input-2, with no picture. I then looked and saw that my PS2 was shut off! I threw an enraged fit, smashed my remote and almost cried. Turns out my 3 year old sister shut it off. :(
