Cultural divide.

If some one say ... start Nazi bootmarching on Time Square they would also probably be arrested, if someone say ... march with KKK markings on LA they would be beat up, and so on and so forth.

Is all racist undertones when some cultures do not accept some of the cultural characteristics from others, NY times being racist in itself for not respecting the cultural divide by making an articles inflating a punishment against Iran's culture.

Heck even TG when they went to Alabama were physically assaulted, yet I don't see any of that making it into the front page.

I haven't read the article, but I will point out that you're failing to distinguish between government action and illegal action from the general public. Even government action can be divided into sanctioned and unsanctioned - all very different implications.

They violated Iran's dressing code, which in itself is a legal fault, build upon their laws so is not like is a government action but an illegal action.

Much like public nudity in the west.

Probably the best comparison you've made. There are definitely objective differences, but now you're comparing sanctioned government action to sanctioned government action.

It's strange that showing without a hijab on a video equals to showing on public... :odd: And that the men were arrested, too (for not reporting the girls to the police?).

Much like public nudity in the west.
Or gay parade in Russia. ;)

Yep, just as I'm sure OFSTED's problem with some of Birmingham's schools is because of a "cultural divide".

Nah, OFSTED do what they need to do, don't confuse teachers (which OFSTED inspectors mostly are) with the Education Department, whose knowledge of education is generally self-evident.

I think it'll turn out that there are some inappropriate curricula and methods in some places (true of lots of schools, its just that some of these are younger establishments) but I doubt the Big Conspiracy will be unveiled.

On main topic: Many societies now seem to feel that Iran's society should change. I certainly do. The law was correctly applied to those involved in the making of the video, it's the fact that the law exists (and that the testero-culture continues to enforce it) that needs to change.

So easy to say, of course.

Was under the impression it was the ED and OFSTED

OFSTED teams may have a leader who isn't a teacher (but they're generally doctors, lawyers or people of a similar professional standard to teachers) but almost all inspectors are ex-or-practicing teachers or heads. OFSTED inspections are stressful but they aren't unfair. I always scored pretty well so I was happy :D

The education department and OFSTED rarely see eye-to-eye and never has this seemed to be more so than under Gove, a man whose own presumably-horrific 1960s childhood of toasting and fagging seems to be the atmosphere he wants to recreate in a modern context.

I genuinely trust that OFSTEDs reports will reveal the facts, one of the difficulties they face in this case is that they aren't allowed to make statements while the red-top press are allowed to speculate about the Danger of Isla'am. Unusually I recall OFSTED did get permission to make a special statement recently to counter one of the more frenetic allegations from the tabloids.
