Your Car's Exhaust

The TL's.

Def. starting to look for an exhaust that'll give it a mean growl without sounding ricey in high revs. A low-tone sound, in other words.

Yummy. I miss it.

Wow... I didn't know old 900s sounded like that. Some kind of performance exhaust is it? The newer ones (9-3s) my parents have had just kind of... whoosh, with the faintest of faint growls if you listen carefully. That 900 sounds really rorty, I like it a lot 👍

Here's what it sounds like on the inside, the speed limit was only 55mph so I only took it up to 60mph since excessive speed on film is a bad, bad, bad idea. Sorry for the weird angle, the only safe way to film it was to put the camera on my lap so I could use both hands to drive.

I love the sound of my 69 Camaro. 40 series Flowmasters custom exhaust I built myself designed after a Lamborghini Murcielago. 2 1/2" before the mufflers then 3" after the mufflers. Could be a little louder but I like it for sure.

This is a pretty good one of me chasing down a brand new EVO. http://www.adfabdesign.com/RaceEvents/Grattan_7-26-08/Grattan_7-26-08_Videos/Joe-lap10-evo-pass.wmv

You can see and hear 31 videos of it from my Grattan 7/26/08 event. The Joe and Aaron ones are the best. http://www.adfabdesign.com/RaceEvents/Grattan_7-26-08/Grattan-7-26-08-videos.html

On the other hand I dont like the way Heathers 67 Fastback mustang sounds at all. Its a 200 straight 6 with no muffler so it sounds like a tractor. We will hopefully be dropping in a V8 302 next year.

I was waiting for you to pop into this thread! God, I love the sound of that Camaro! Also, where's Venari? His Cougar sounds bloody awesome as well!

No, it's stock.

'07 Mazda 3
2.3L 4-Cylinder
Exhaust: Mazdaspeed

Wet asphalt + pine needles = no grip. I couldn't use full throttle on the launch, but you get the idea :).

In-Car:

Getting on I-5. Sorry, but I had to put the camera down to shift, so the last five seconds are a shot of my leg :dopey:.

This one is mine. It's more engine than exhaust, the exhaust is that small puttering sound on the first rev.

EDIT: I've never noticed that much at how much quicker my car revs and drops revs since I've installed the flywheel, but after watching Kylehnat's videos, I have to say the difference is quite noticable.

That was one of my only gripes about the 3: the stock flywheel weighs as much as a house. The lightweight flywheel in there now is much, much better. At low RPMs, it doesn't help much, since the engine doesn't like to live there. 3-6K goes by in a blink. That on-ramp is also steeply uphill, so the in-car appears pokey ;).

Even better! It's a really nice sounding car then 👍

What engine has yours got PB? All the Civics sound pretty good IMO, I watched a vid on youtube a few days back of the basic 1.4 and even that sounded pretty good.

Not my actual car, but the same model running standard exhaust;

I'll try and get one of my actual car at some point, to see if it's any different.

Here you go HKS T51R!

HEY! thanks buickgnx!! how did you get it to work? because it wouldn't for me

Matt

edit: heres a better one! as you can see the stock muffler is in place but its still really loud =]

This video may not quite be ready as i JUST uploaded it!

I've got the stock d16y7, but with a intake manifold from a y8.

Ah, cheers, so *does research* the 106bhp one then. We didn't get that engine in the UK but we did get the D16Y8, which I'm presuming is the single-cam VTEC. We got the B16A2 above that, then a 1.4 (pretty common) and 1.5 (bit rarer) of some description below it as far as the 3dr hatch was concerned.

But as I mentioned, they all sound pretty nice.
