Your GT5: Prologue cars are transferable to the almighty Gran Turismo 5.

If it's possible to transfer all the GT PSP and Prologue cars on day one, then damn, you'll have probably over 75% of the rides.

I'm going to start from zero because I like to drive old, rubbish, 80's japanese cars, their suspension are always loose, they are weak on acceleration and their styling is....hmmm....you know what. Also, my heart won't be broken when I hit the wall at 140mph in my savannah-RX7, since I don't have any feeling for the car.....the same I can't say for the Enzo.

I don't see any problem in getting cars from GT5P or GTPSP, since I don't have a PSP ( I will buy it only to play MGS:Peacewalker )the maximum I can transfer are 71 cars from Prologue, so maybe there's a thousand remaining to collect.....

Semi-off topic but relevant...

Fact: GT PSP car collection will be transferrable to GT5
Assumption: GT PSP car collection will be transferrable to GT5 simulation mode
Fact: Cars in GT PSP do not have or register individual mileage

Look at GT4. Mileage is a big part of the game, and I'm sure we all really hope it's as big a part of GT5. Features like the used car lot, valuable low-mileage examples and chassis refresh for high-milers are just sweet.

So if the older model cars in GT5 are listed as used with high miles, then what happens when you introduce these same cars from PSP with no miles into GT5? Do the PSP transfer cars simply have zero miles but no special value? Are all the PSP cars that qualify as used assigned an arbitrary mileage? Will GT5 omit mileage? (Doubtful.) Will they only be unlocked only in arcade mode? I really hope not.

This one is bugging me. What do you think?

GT PSP car count= ~800

GT5: Prologue car count=~75

800
+75
875

GT5 expected car count= ~950

That, to me, seems crazy. (I know I'm assuming that all GT PSP cars are in GT5 which might skew this..but anyways). PD is smart, though. I'd like to think they'd put some emphasis on challenging gamers by putting a point limit on the cars upon transferring (say 1,000 PP). I understand some people don't have all the time in the world to play GT, but I don't think they'd dumb the game down so far as to give you the chance to transfer over a ridiculously high number of cars to GT Mode.

This worries me greatly. I really hope that there are not only like 75 new cars in GT5. That would be abominable. I really don't think that is the case though. I don't think that every car is GT PSP will be in GT5. It would be like GT4 1/2 if that's the case. Fingers crossed for something lost in translation.

Don't worry about that. GT PSP just needed cars to fill out its roster, and I'm sure many GT4 cars found in GT PSP will be cut from GT5's roster. I think the consensus here is that we'll see about 150-200 new cars never seen in a GT title. That's much more reasonable.

Why do so many assume if you transfer over cars/credits, you'll take a supercar to a Sunday Cup race (if possible).

I'll play GT5 just as I played previous GT games, only this time there will be no money worries, and I can partake in all events from the begining.

True, there's no reason for complain if PD put in the Performance Points system for all events, that's my only question.

BTW: I simply love this thread title, "the almighty Gran Turismo 5", it's perfect, accurate to represent GT...the almighty GT.....:)

I'll probably make two saves. One for transferring all my cars and stuff over, so I can use that for generally playing about with them and going online; and another for doing it the classic Gran Turismo way - buying an old japanese sports car for 10,000cr and going from there.

Why would they cut GT PSP cars from the GT5 roster? Because they're old? I'm 100% sure every car from GT PSP will make it to GT5. These cars plus those from GT5P still leave plenty of new cars to come in the "over 1000" which could easily end up being almost 1100.

For example, look at GT4 promotional literature - they said "over 700" everywhere and there were like 760 or 780 cars.

Check back to page 5 where I posted some figures about the car counts. I feel like GT PSP has a lot of cars in it because they were easy to add from GT4 and act as fillers to boost the car count. GT5's cars are, for the most part, shrouded in mystery, and I feel like they'd cut some GT PSP rides to accomodate the new ones n GT5. But then again, if you can transfer all the GT PSP cars to GT5, we may be seeing a smaller than hoped number of new rides in GT5.

I hear what you're saying, but I'm confident that PD won't let legacy cars (from previous GT's) get in the way of putting as many new cars as they want/can/are allowed into the game. And the more the merrier.

My gut feeling about this is that any cars on gt5p will be transferable to gt5 and if you have gtpsp you may qualify cash bonus at the start of the game, the same as when starting gt4 with gt3 data.
To me half the fun of a gt game is the tuning and buying of cars and, even if my gt5p cars are transfered to my garage, I shall still do this. Just because the Ferrari F1 car is sitting in your garage you don't have to use it!

I know that in past GTs, we had a small number of cars cut from the previous roster in order to make room for a few new cars in the new game. I hope this isn't the case in GT5, that we get all the past cars from all the past Gran Turismo games. I'm not sure that there are 200 new cars to put into GT5 anyway.

All we have to do is look at GT5: Prologue, GT PSP and the GT5 car wishlist and assume some information.

What I mean is take the cars in GT5: Prologue (apparently, all ~75 of them), and the ones we saw in GT PSP and then add car models from the wishlist (never before seen in any GT game) and assume they'll be in. Then we may have an idea of how many new rides we'll see. (I know, it's complicated).

I won't rest until I own every car, so starting with a few and being able to progress a bit faster will be good, instead of counting every penny before buying the first cars. Actually I hope even "repeated" cars can be transferred and sold, that way the 8 Ferrari F1 alone would make an excellent starting point :)

And you can always restart the game and do it "properly". I started GT4 3 times, and the last one was just to do it "properly" from scratch, reach 100% all golds, all cars, etc

In the times of the GT1 or GT2, I used to have time and play hours a week....Right now, for GT5P I have some weeks a few hours....

If The GT5 need 300 hours of play time to get decent cars and some nice play online (it's nice to have an on line race with good and fast cars...for a race with a GTI, I have one in the real life)....

I rather like to take the cars that I already have in GT5P to GT5...but if I'll have the time, I would not have problem to start from zero...

I think somehow the reason to start from 0 is to learn how to drive...I have the whole GT sries in my body...I think I have learn something on how to drive.

But this is my case and opinion. I would like to have the cars, but I don't have a problem to take all the races in the game....I can drive a crap once...but drive it all night soy next week I could drive a less crap car..no thank's

Lets get the facts straight. Playstation adverstised GT5 Prologue saying "Head Start on Gran Turismo 5 -- Get a jump on the competition. You can transfer your Gran Turismo 5 Prologue progress to Gran Turismo 5 when it releases." and you can see the page here were it describes this feature http://us.gran-turismo.com/us/products/gt5p/ Seeing that By April 30, 2008, Gran Turismo 5 Prologue had shipped 2.23 million worldwide according to Sony Computer Entertainment and Polyphony Digital, with 270,000 units in Japan, 550,000 in North America, 1.38 million in Europe, and 30,000 in Asia.[2] As of August 2009, Gran Turismo 5 Prologue has shipped 3.94 million copies worldwide, with 690,000 copies in Japan, 820,000 in North America, 2.33 million in Europe, and 100,000 in Southeast Asia.[59]

As of December 2010, the games has sold 5.09 million copies making it the second highest selling PlayStation 3 title of all time being beaten by its successor Gran Turismo 5.[60] You can see this on wikipediahttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gran_Turismo_5_Prologue

Personally I don't think this is a matter of weather or not I want to have an F1 car when I started playing GT5, its a matter of Playstation advertising GT5 Prologue for Playstation as something that would be transferable. And because of that I believe it was the single most compelling reason for the people who purchased Prologue to do so.

Seems like grounds for a huge lawsuit.

Sold! Put my name down for the class action lawsuit, see what the lawyers say, play the waiting game for 5yrs and then call me to tell me what my cut is.

At the least a deceptive trade practice on a Federal level...

Features subject to change without notice.. I'm sure you'll find this (or something meaning the same) somewhere within both games.

I was upset that you couldn't transfer anything from GT5P. Then again GT5P was like a very accurate foreshadow of GT5 and the level of commitment to 'detail(s)'.

Exactly. Good luck with that lawsuit...you pay that lawyer his $300/hr rate to look into it for you. Doubt you will be able to prove damages...but you will only need to spend a couple grand in attorney fees to get Sony to settle out of court and refund you the $29.99 you paid fot GT5P.
