Hi there, fellow GTP Producers.

What's your latest remix? Like, which song are you remixing?

Remember, always give credit, and completely change the song, somehow.

^^ If you don't, you're liable.

I (DJ Melancholic Angel) am planning on running with a few samples of "Vampires Will Never Hurt You" by My Chemical Romance, but REALLY, REALLY changing it. I'll still give credit, but, you shouldn't be able to recognize the original song. I mean, it's only like 200 notes that I have to find, and then change...

"Like ghosts in the snow."

Post yours!

A remix is supposed to be (in my opinion at least) a new take on the idea behind the creation of the original tune. It should still be somewhat easy to tell what the original was, not just creating an original and then throwing in a few samples from the tune you were "remixing".

Yes, but, it's also not just deleting the drum track, and making a new one. Some of the smaller "dubstep" producers just take a song that already exists and play with the drums.

This is why I'm taking an opportunity to add a new bassline and a new melody in a break, as part of my possible My Chemical Romance remix. It will be a future garage track, with a future garage bassline & melody.

However, I understand and agree with your point. But, if you only change the drum track, or make small changes to someone else's song, it's called an "edit," not a "remix."

I have nothing against those who make "edits," but I'd prefer to hear new remixes, with songs that have been entirely changed, one way or another, to sound different, but noticeably similar.
