Not exactly, he didn't talk about how he got them, just that he had them.

Well, even though I'm an interface dork, that's actually not the main reason. It mostly stems down to small things... Safari's download manager is much better implemented, scrolling is much smoother, it has better CSS 2 support (nearly perfect CSS 2 support, in fact), and uses Aqua resources for form buttons instead of the horribly garish ones that Firefox brings along. Also, Safari's WebKit rendering engine is built into the system, so when it's updated, it also updates the way that Mail and the Help Center render pages.

I'll concede that Firefox has a better implementation of Bookmarks/History viewing (using the sidebar), but everywhere else I find Safari to just be much more polished. :)
