Thanks for the interest, @Cpt. Disaster and @turbonator , your name is in!

Now that we have more than 16, I'm going to need to know who's going to race when, this week (you're allowed to pick both days!).

I'd hate to promise someone some racing and when they turn up, to have to tell them the grid is full already.

After Wednesday's race you can confirm which day you prefer (unless like @ccaranna, for example, you already made clear what your preference was). For your information, the preferred option for me would be Monday.

Oops, I almost forgot to add in NorthlanderGT...

That's good to know, @turbonator, thanks for the confirmation.

PS: @Logoncal21, I forgot to answer your question: yes it's perfectly fine not to have a mic, as long as you listen out for instructions whenever needed (mainly for the grid formation). I'm also more than happy to type whenever needed.

I'm just preparing the Megane , are an Oil change and custom wheels (Standard size) allowed ? Also which tires are we using ?
Looking forward to Monday !
Cheers

I will.

I've just taken the MR2 for a spin and ended up doing a lot... of spins... and very quickly I downgraded to the 'G-Limited' (45bhp less).

I don't know about you but I have to learn a lot when it comes to MRs on GT6. In the name of science, I put GT5 on for a few minutes and the difference is massive. On GT5, I was 5 sec quicker on a 70 or so seconds a lap (SSR5). I just had my foot down in the corners. On GT6, not so much.

So for those who, like me, are also discovering lift-off oversteer (or, worse, who don't know what I'm talking about), you will positively need to practice before we take the car out.

And it's something I really want to go through. Some are going to hate me for it but it's for the good of our skills. Then we'll go back to the GT-S... :)

Im looking forward to this, having been a regular in previous Zero Cups. I will be here for Mondays races, but Wednesday I've committed myself already to another event, hangover permitting.:ill::eek:

Hi Warrius, any idea what time of day the races will be in-game (morning, afternoon, dusk, night)? I'm practicing and wondering what settings you might choose.

For the Megane I'll use whatever default values come up in the lobby.
I'll let you know for the following events onwards.

Thinking about that, I'm wondering if we should actually use randomly selected time (and weather) conditions.

Just to make sure I'm up to speed (literally), I wanted to share my practice lap times for tomorrow's races.

13 laps on Deep Forest averaged around 1:39 (per lap), 17 laps on Silverstone National was 1:12, and 7 laps on Mount Panorama was in the 2:55 range.

Intrested to join, this looks and sounds fun :)

Random time might work, but knowing the actual race time ahead of the event might help us prepare instead of an unexpected night race. Just my opinion.

I'm all for random weather conditions at the start of the race as long as the weather variability setting is low for the actual race (like 0-2).

@Sparkz_360 I'm not sure exactly how many will turn up this week but we may already be full.
Please let me get back to you.

@ccaranna Good point, I can set the time in advance. And I agree, we don't want rain all the time and we want it to be realistic. Tomorrow I'll try to come up with something simple that works (not sure how yet). You'll know in advance if it's at night, though.

For the times I don't remember everything but you should be able to gain a few seconds in Bathurst. Maybe even up to 10. I'll do a few laps again to let you know.

Hey, expect me to enter Tommorow. I think i might manage to play it.
Also, am i allowed to do some engine tweaks on GTAuto? If i'm not... i might need to buy another Megane

If by tweaks you mean an oil change or engine overhaul, then it's perfectly fine, especially the oil change if you want the same amount of bhp as the rest of the pack.

If you mean anything else, then no, you can't. Reducing the power manually after doing some tuning is not good enough either.

So if i do those engine upgrades, i'm screwed right? Well, i just did the engine overhaul and oil change, and i might done some car wash on it.

So I've come up with a weather forecast idea.

Just before I load the track, I will generate a random weather.

My weather generator is going to pick a random number between 0 and 99.
Then depending on its value, it will pick the Weather at Race Start following this formula:
WeatherAtRaceStart = Int(Value² /1000 ) *10

After 50000 iterations, I get these probabilities:

Weather at race start Probability
0 22.9%
10 16.1%
20 11.9%
30 9.0%
40 7.9%
50 7.1%
60 6.2%
70 6.1%
80 5.7%
90 5.1%
100 1.9%

So while it's completely random, there's a bigger chance to get a dry weather rather than a wet one.
The chance to start the race on the dry is actually 75% (you only get rain at the start if you have 60% or more).

Note also that not all tracks have a variable weather so as an average, this value will be even higher.

I've also tested the evolution of the track with a fixed weather set at 60, 70, 80, 90 and 100%. So I know from the weather at start how to set up the surface water. I will use these values:

Weather at race start Surface water at race start
0 0
10 0
20 0
30 0
40 0
50 0
60 10
70 20
80 50
90 80
100 100

The surface water changes from these values but the change is minimal (when the weather is fixed, not variable, of course). I hope this make sense.

For the rest, I'm going to use these values:
Weather changeability: 10 (out of 60)
Time progression: 3 (out of 60)
Time: will be set in advance

Important note: I've changed the 2nd track for Wednesday so we can have a go at this system. Instead of Rome, we'll go to Matterhorn and use the Drisdelen layout with a 7am start. The weather will be random.

The only change I may do in the future is having a weather forecast (one forecast a week in advance, one 1 day in advance, for example) but I'd have to come up with an algorithm for that as well and I would need some time.

PS: Trust my integrity, I will find out about the weather at the same time as you!

@ccaranna Here are some references:

Deep Forest: 1:34.0
Bathhurst: 2:40.5
Siverstone national: 1:09.5

By all means, I'm not the quickest one.
Sorry I didn't get a chance to do it earlier.

Make sure you do at least some practice in an online lobby, that's where the times make sense. And I'm not sure yet how the offline and online physics compare.

I'm a little embarrassed, I was practicing with the Clio this whole time. I've got the Megane now. Not sure what I was thinking. Sorry about that. :boggled:

As long as the internet connection holds, I'm good to go.

:lol:I thought that you might tested with the wrong car , because I have nearly the same times as warrius .
