Qualifying took place back in February (which you can re-watch below), with two 40 minutes sessions for the TCN-1 class, and a 20 minute shootout for the GT3 PRO pole. 25 driver took to the track and very close time were recorded in the midfield.
Team Redline GT set the early pace and ultimately recorded a 2:00.889 on @RacingLine‘s 6th lap. Audi teams went on to lock out the first 3 positions on the grid with Top Notch Racing (last year’s winners) in second, and Avalerion Racing in third. In TCN-1 Dragon Razor Racing lead the pack with a combined average time of 2:13.709 set by @Whitetail and @Sinyster. Locally networked team Weil Racing Limited line up beside them.
Last year’s event saw uninterrupted green flag conditions throughout the 12 hours with Top Notch Racing recording 339 laps, finishing just over 2 minutes ahead of Reaper Online Racing who fought off an assault for 2nd place by Bitter Rivals Racing in the sites Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 by 30 seconds.
This year we have a different class dynamic, with GT3 PRO and TCN-1 taking part. The GT drivers will have to be patient with traffic across the top of the mountain and make the most of their top speed advantage up and down Mountain and Conrod Straights.
@MINT_GTR, aka 2015 NISMO GT Academy International Champion Matt Simmons makes a return appearance at his home race, after a mammoth total of 6 hours at the wheel last year, in what will be his final sim-race before he heads over to Europe for preparations for his debut in the Blancpain Endurance Series with Nissan. he will be part of the #1 NISMO RaceOnOZ crew who will be aiming to emulate the success of Chiyo, Wolfie, and Florian in 2015 and guide their NISMO GT Academy NISSAN GT-R GT3 to victory! Team Redline GT will be looking to deny them as the successful PC racing team make their eSports debut on Gran Turismo.
As always GTPlanet’s Youtube channel will be broadcasting the entire race live, which you can catch up top. In the commentary box, you’ll be hearing from these five voices, as well as plenty of guests from around the Series;
@andrewsufc91 – Andrew M
@Fallen_log – David F
@FutureF1 – Rishav
@StigsTC – Adrian
@Tom – Tom
Good luck to all of the drivers, and we hope you enjoy the race!

Statement on Abandonment / Postponement of the Race
PSN’s network infrastructure is currently performing very poorly. We believe that the issues we are facing today are more serious that those we have experienced in the past and are likely being exasperated by the ‘Free Multiplayer Weekend’ promotion being run this weekend.
Under these conditions we do not have confidence in our ability to run the event the the standards we uphold or ensure fairness of competition.
After consulting the Team Managers, a decision has been made to abandon the race, and reschedule for another date (likely in April), maintaining the results from QP, but allowing changes to driver lineups.
Were are extremely disappointed to have to make this decision, one that we have not had to take before, but feel it is in everyone’s best interest to make it sooner rather then later.
Thank you to all our competitors and viewers, and we hope to bring your further news in the coming days.
Can’t believe these players are so good and dedicated at the game! Amazing!
Well that actually shows how close the GT3 laptimes are in GT6 compared to reality and how far off they are in project cars. In Pcars a lap is 10 secs longer. Have to try Forza 6.
These cars are BoP’d to be close to the GT3 times. If they were running with default horsepower I’d be inclined to be believe they’d be a lot faster than the times they ran.
Sweet! Not everyday you see your name in a GTPlanet Article! Looking forward to watching the race and bringing live coverage to everyone interested in watching!
2 years ago, if you had told me that I would be competing against some of the top Sim Racers in the world, I wouldn’t have believed you. This is definitely going to be an exciting race.
Really looking forward to this race. Can’t wait to be in the commentary box again.
I am looking forward to this race and cannot wait to get on track! See you all there and best of luck!
